Every ryu should be using it. His pressure is pretty lackluster otherwise

All hashogekis involve risk. L is jab punishable, M is -6 and full combo fodder if someone has a decent starter. H is +2, but without charge it’s so slow it can be jump punished.

For everyone that says he jumps a lot….. u gotta ck him. If they let him do it u can’t be doggin him out about it. He has great ground game and mixups too. It’s like boxing and not cking a overcommitted puncher. They will do what u let them. He’s not running thru people just cause he’s not getting ckd on jump ins. Watch his other videos.
Reminds me of when I played SF5 years ago and played against a Ryu that seemed to have an answer for literally everything I did. Then he would hit me with that target combo over and over again.

Some of Ryu's buttons are so good. I have a really hard time playing the footsie game against him with ken.

The amount of jump ins is crazy. I don't play sf much but it is fun to watch, but even i can tell this ryu uses jump ins a tremendous amount. How is this not punished more often?
First thing I noticed. Title says "SOLID fundamentals" when jumping that often is the complete opposite. Aggressive Ryu? Yes. Fundamentals? Not so much...
Well if you aren’t punished for it and it’s free jump city , why stop?
Of course, I can see why he keeps doing it. The point is that the title isn't very accurate. The ryu is really good, but I wouldn't say he's "solid fundamentals" with that much jumping. Either way he'd shit on all of us in the comments including me sooo 😶
Paladin is the #1 Ryu. He definitely knows what he’s doing. In general, yes jumping in a lot is bad. Predictability is the real issue. At this high level of play, jump-ins are less expected because its considered predictable. Which is why they aren’t expecting it. Not only that, but predictability can be used as an offensive tool for conditioning your opponent to expect a certain move (like a jump in) at a certain time and then doing something different to catch them off guard.

Thing about ranked and pro play is just the level of understanding the game, fundamentally as shown. There's always gonna be a playstyle that's different than the last player and I can see that most of these players that Paladin has fought probabky doesn't know how to play against his Ryu's style of pressure. (I don't think I've ever seen Paladin in tourneys). What I'm saying is just off personal experience and what I see.

Tournament pro play is another world. I'm used to watch pros like Nemo and Broski absolutely steamroll online but pale in comparrison to guys like Tokido or Gachikun on tournaments.

@@TheGamingLegionnaire No, only wins is not boring. I come to see a character beat down everyone they come across, not lose. Showing losses changes the pacing of the video and is not congruent with the theme.

there are no trash characters in this game, ryu is fine, he's just not overtuned like ken or luke
No character is trash tier if you can use him properly
@@fwef7445 As a Lily main, she has way less options than the rest of the roster and most of her pressure isn't even true... So yeah, there is atleast one trash character, I believe she can be very good now only bc a lot of people don't have experience against her and therefore it's easy to not know when or how to punish her even at high level

not everyone cares about tiers as much as you.
Believe it or not, Ryu is kind of fun to play. Probably the most fun version of Ryu (at least to me).
Despite what people say about him, he and every other character still has to play by the games rules, and if the Ryu player can understand and play those rules better. He can still win.
Plus he hits like a truck.

they play very differently, ryu is still a good character. Ken is likely to get nerfed anyway
