@jamesreardon8585 nope haha, can't see you in the group, can you send me an email via my website and I'll send back the invite link haha 😆, we will get there eventually 😄
I've just finished doing 2 inner & outer sills on my xy big job inner $150 each outer $420 each retail. you can get from rare spares a full length of the piece you just made but no ends on it pretty cheap.
Ah thanks Craig! I ordered just the outer skin, luckily for me the inner was repairable. Wow 2 X full sills on you'd xy! Well done, how is the rest of the car looking? Much rust in the rest of yours?
@@TwistedMetalCustoms re doing old rust repairs that i think were done early 90's but doing high quality repairs takes time. started last august should be ready for paint end of year
Ahh beauty then! hopefully that was enough information to get you on your way, otherwise just hit me up in the our Community when more info might be needed 🍻👌
Great video mate, a lot of car mods, especially on a budget, I find that you have to have options. I can tell with your skills that you could easily make your own sills. But sometimes being ‘time poor’ makes certain options a lot more viable. Haha!! Mouse
Hey Mouse, thanks buddy! I could make the sills, but the bigger the panel the more chance for differences I reckon, especially when I found out it was only 130 bucks haha 😄, yeah being time poor is definitely my biggest challenge, cheers 🍻
Waste of time and effort better results putting a new sill panel on while it’s off repair the inner sill panel .. and any other issues new sill panels are definitely worth it in the long run 🎉
yeah.. you are not wrong haha.. in fact its exactly what i ended up doing in the next episode, i got my wires crossed and didnt realise how cheap the skins were, but you are spot on mate! but at least now i know i can shape a replacement piece if ever needed for a small patch 🍻🍻
@@TwistedMetalCustoms Ive been a panel beater spray painter since I was 15 years old I’m about to turn 50 soon and I’ve retired and brought my own place and only want to work on and finish my own cars one EH Ute .3 xh falcon Utes one 75 ford TD cortina and maybe one other car a HR Ute after that I just wanna drive them up the Goldcoast Cruze around go to car shows and Summernats live life out before I all ends
@michaelbyrnes7944 mate that sounds like such a good idea, I'm a carpenter by trade... so I'm working on all my own projects with that exact same plan in mind, I want to be able to enjoy and drive my cars, I'd rather do that then have one in "project" status for 15 years and then be too scared to drive it in case of a scratch haha.. well I think you have a good plan, hope to see you about on the road or at a car show one day mate 👍
Sill patches can be really simple , provided you dont overthink it. I have made a short video specifically for you, please watch to the end. What I forgot to mention is , before making a bender I used to clamp the tin between two pieces of timber / metal and hammer form the bend. th-cam.com/video/8FcaeLfgHew/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pAuCq9BL12q_UzqL. It would still be easier and cheaper to make a panel to replace the whole damaged area, in one piece, than to replace the whole sill.
Thanks Bruce, I had a watch, I know what you mean. Believe it or not, I actually didn't have any round scrap pipe, except that small peice I used, 130 dollars for a full outer sill is pretty cheap, for me to make a roller bender even out of scrap is still not viable as yet, definitely something I want to make so very helpful having this info mate so that's great!! Another reason is I also want to make parts with as little as possible for other folks that may not have all the home made gear too. But exactly like you said, even timber and some clamps will work, all good information matey! Good on ya for making a video! That beetle looks pretty cool, is it one of your past restorations?
😄 yeah exactly, yes it would. In short I wanted to try and make a replacement piece, once I seen how long it took, also how cheap it was to buy.. then yes 100% yeah definitely going to replace with a new piece 😄 🍻
great video mate!

Thanks Russel! They are a good old classic, practice makes perfect on the panel repairs too! Cheers 🍻

@craigjones6887 well done mate, pretty keen to see your progress someday! What drivetrain have you got planned?
Check out the videos on a gene winfield pipe anvil. That would have probably helped for this job
Well done 👍
