Like people are saying, cost of the jaws would put DIY'ers like me off, but, having said that, we all know that the cheap Chinese shrinker/stretchers are just crap and don't even work straight out of the box, so £175 for something that works is good value really.

    • @Metal_shaper_tom
      @Metal_shaper_tom  ปีที่แล้ว

      Did consider stainless but it is cheap Chinese metal so not that great quality. Once I’d tacked the bits in place and the tacks hadn’t shrunk/cracked that was good enough for me to continue using the mild wire.

      @@Metal_shaper_tom nether the less you did produce wonderful product.

    • @Metal_shaper_tom
      @Metal_shaper_tom  ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely the new math thing. So as you would know from watching it I’d already purchased the new replacement set a few week before as I’d already been using them then I decided to make the video. Then at the end of the video I state if you have a foot operated shrinker then you can use the dies from there to make it. The whole point of the video is to show using a cheap set of bolt cutters you can make a shrinking tool. I’m Assuming you do metal work then you would know that shrinking dies aren’t cheap? Come on Steve that’s like saying let’s wheel up this panel it’s really easy all you need is this 10k English wheel to start . Like I’ve said in other comments. It’s about turning a £13 pound tool that would cost normally £500 plus . You can use your existing shrinking dies or you can buy these ones for £99 from stakesy’s. The price of the welder is irrelevant as I’ve just brought one for £200 that would do what I just done in this video. Thanks for the comment though 👍
