@bryanoconnor3510 thanks mate!! It came up good with the green paint, only made it just in time for the car show haha 🍻
Every 60 series Landcruiser needs saving
@@grantlee2975 all of them do haha
Hi mate, did you take the fuel tank out while repairs being done?
@shro73 hi mate, hmm... for small rust repairs.. no I don't. But I do remove the battery. If it's a big repair, or heaps of rust to be done, yes I take out the tank, or at least drain it. But generally it's pretty safe, unless you have a leak!
showing what went wrong is the best way to learn i reckon.. wonder what happens to that dribbling nozzle, i've had a few lately that started out ok, but ended up like that.
@deankdx I do agree with you Dean! Plus I like being transparent about stuff, I'm not perfect haha, but I DO learn from my mistakes, and hopefully others can see why things don't work, I asked SCA and they said there was a batch apparently that had faulty nozzles. I must have got that batch 😕 haha
What's YOUR best rattle can hack? Tip or trick?
Did he say $15,000 dollar paints job. Holy smokes
@charlesescarria3726 yeah man, AUD. The average price nowdays
I used metallic gold and spray base first smick
@chrisriley3828 hey Chris, do you use metallic gold as a base? Or you tried the metallic gold paint? How was it, did it come up ok?
Hey buddy have you seen the plastic clip on trigger tool helps you paint like a pro without getting a sore finger paint clog runs from the tip and an even flow of paint like using a gun. not blaming you as you are brilliant in all you do buddy
@russelblackwell6041 hey Russ, its probably the first "how to" video on youtube with a shitty result haha, but I'm honest and straight up as you probably know, so I wasn't going to hide the terrible job haha. Yeah I have seen and used them when I was a kid, I honestly didn't think I needed it, I just shouldn't have used the first spot can but oh well, the process I showed still has merit, just couldn't deliver a good job in the end 😅🤣, but yeah great tip mate, I should have mentioned that in the video too actually , cheers for the comment mate, appreciate it!! 🍻
Can pierce the top of the can and tip into spray gun cup
yeah that's a good idea mate, i didn't have my air compressor or guns there unfortunately but definitely a great tip!
mate it is looking fantastic and i am learning heaps. sadly i cant use a welder with my pacemaker :( I think I missed where you applied the seam sealer. or is that still to come?
Hi Craig, glad that you are picking up a few things from the channel mate! Ah ok well hopefully you know someone that can help out with the welding part, i applied the seam sealer between any lap joins but probably didn't record it sorry, ill be doing some more work on the XW next week so hopefully i can cover it in more detail for you mate, cheers for the comment and for following the channel 🍻
Hi bud how you getting on with this build 🎉😀 any progress or problems as im thinking of doing the same thing
@aprilgeordi8969 hey mate!, the current status is the 440 motor is ready, but problem is I want a tkx 5 speed box to put behind it, but it comes to $13k with everything needed to install, so basically I'm just broke and don't have a gearbox, I have a TF727 auto, but need to change the spline to a slip yolk haha, that's all that's stopping me at this point
BTW you can get Fertan from mitre 10
@craigoz62 oooh, this is good knowledge! Cheers man very handy
fantastic mate, your work is an inspiration to me!! thank you for being so thorough and generous with you information
@craigoz62 thanks for the nice comment mate! When the new workshop has been built I'll go back into higher detail builds and information on upcoming videos 🍻
First of all you’re slightly mad second of all, you’ve got a great woman. I can’t believe she was out there helping you at nightlife she’s a legend and number three. Your dad would be looking down at ya smiling he’d be happy as for you . You-crazy man.
Hi Charlie, i really appreciate this comment thank you! yeah i am a little crazy, and lucky to have her that's for sure! cheers mate 🍻
Keep powering mate 🚀 Well done on your kool build 👍🏻😎
Thanks for watching and the positive feedback, I'm loving working on this build!
G’day Twisty, Awesome video mate, It really shows how much work you put into her, to make the car show. You can see it in your eyes, just how tired you were, especially in the last couple of days. When I caught up with you on the day, you really looked like death warmed up haha!! You’ve done well mate, keen to see what is next for the jailbar. Cheers mouse
@@ChrisArmstrong-ir3fg hahahaha thanks mouse, yeah I agree I was buggered 😄, was good to catch up 🍻
Love the Ute mate. The colour is awesome. Just wondering how you deal with the heavily pitted rust? If you can’t sand blast it what do you do instead?
@nathanmacready872 depends on what level of restoration you want, for my rat rod where I couldn't sand in the pitted surfaces, treated it with Fertan, a rust converter. But for a high quality restoration it's best just to get it blasted or maybe acid wash? If it's a small area then I use my hand held sand blaster tool
Was very hard to watch with that music but great creativity mate you have an incredible brain
cheers mate, i appreciate the feedback and good to know what works and doesn't 🍻👍
Sick I love it
The biggest issue I have is, hoses and leeds on the floor. The second biggest is storage, being able to have parts accessible near the vehicle you are working on. Another is being able to keep dust etc from migrating around the entire shed, especially metal shavings. The question here is what is more hassle having to clean or protect each vehicle or having to move them from one bay to another. But at the end of the day more space is everything .
@bruceaskin9645 very good points mate, leads will be hard, I was thinking of running air line along the walls, dust and dirty stuff... I was going to dedicate a bay for rust repairs and sanding, have dust extraction and maybe a partition wall?? Or curtain??
Plan for the minimising of unproductive time, cleaning, packing/ unpacking and moving stuff around. Pay special attention to your spray booth, light position and various air connections. Dragging hoses around the floor creates dust.
@bruceaskin9645 yeah good idea, I needed better lighting in my last booth, hopefully my new plan is better, I wonder if LED or fluro lights are better 🤔
My current and final garage is the culmination of years of planning. For me the best advice is use a good quality insulation, air cell before the sheet metal on the roof and walls. I added more insulation and double skinned the inside as well
@pangaute thanks mate, good advice! I definitely wanted to insulated it, aircell is pretty dear but, but I think it's probably still the cheapest option for the roof. The walls I wanted to sheet, and I'll probably insulate them with batts too, what do you mean double skinned? The sheeting inside and the iron on outside?
Looking forward to watching the shed evolve Twisty
All the best with it mate make sure they finish the whole job watch Yanies Garage thats one mighty shed
@russelblackwell6041 will do mate, been looking for good videos to watch on sheds actually 👍
@russelblackwell6041 can't find the video you mean mate, has it got another name or handle?
Yarnies garage solid guy with a beard his cars are also amazing Xy ute with 260 boss chassis
@russelblackwell6041 oh ok, I'll try find it cheers mate !
Awesome Twisty, That’s going to be one big ass shed. TMC HQ - rust to resto
Yeah absolutely! ill make sure there is a chair there for you around the fire when the beers are on!
Don’t forget to future proof your shed when you do the slab. Incorporate thick enough concrete for a minimum of 2 hoists even if you only fit one. Give yourself some options. I tip my hat to you and your better half for taking such a big leap to improve your lives.
thanks Ant! yeah great idea, ive gone extra 25mm thicker on the slab for that reason, hopefully it is enough and thank you very much mate, it is a huge leap of faith but at least live will be more enjoyable! cheers matey
@@TwistedMetalCustoms before settling on your concrete thickness just do a bit of research on what is recommended by the manufacturer or hoists. I say this as my brother in law didn’t check this and when he purchased a hoist he found his concrete to be just 25mm to thin and had to abandon the ideas
Mate, exiting times for you eh. Man i'd love a big shed like that but i live in the suburbs and you have to make do with the space available. There are a couple of things I have that are a must, I think, a toilet and a fire( I live in NZ and it can get cold in the shed) . Cant wait to see the finished product. Cheers from NZ, Phil.
Cheers Phil! i reckon you are spot on... i love my fire places, probably wont heat up much but a good place to warm the hands up and have a beer!! and the toilet.. well.. i too like to be civilised sometimes haha
Big congrats mate New shed will be awesome Our shed is 11m x8.2m x4m high wall With 2 roller doors and a PA door Ours is a great shed but being on the coast in Tassie we cop some big winds that actually ripped my PA door off its hinges They’re not strong so rebuilding that atm The other thing add way more power points than you think you’ll need we have a double every 2 metres And I’ve used every one of them with welders grinder 4 post hoist etc The more the better With this I’ve set up a charging station wall under the mezzanine stairs so all my battery stuff is charged in one place we put 2 four outlet power points side by side for this And I’m using all bar one currently Looking forward to more videos Cheers
oh wow really! that must have been hectic wind! Yeah high quantity of power points is a great idea, and a charge station to, all in one place, i like that ! safe to say I've added to the build!
@@TwistedMetalCustoms cheers mate You can’t go wrong with stuff all in one place Been a game changer for me Yeah we get some strong wind gusts and this one grabbed the door that was pinned open with a car tyre and ripped it clean off
@@michaelharrison500 holy moly, hopefully i dont have the same weather at this place haha , cheers matey
the thing about shed's, I've never heard anyone ever say "gee I wish we'd built that a bit smaller!", that looks awesome mate!

Drifting it beats a burnout in my book. Well done on getting to the show. Looking forward to more episodes on this

Waste of time and effort better results putting a new sill panel on while it’s off repair the inner sill panel .. and any other issues new sill panels are definitely worth it in the long run 🎉
yeah.. you are not wrong haha.. in fact its exactly what i ended up doing in the next episode, i got my wires crossed and didnt realise how cheap the skins were, but you are spot on mate! but at least now i know i can shape a replacement piece if ever needed for a small patch 🍻🍻
@@TwistedMetalCustoms Ive been a panel beater spray painter since I was 15 years old I’m about to turn 50 soon and I’ve retired and brought my own place and only want to work on and finish my own cars one EH Ute .3 xh falcon Utes one 75 ford TD cortina and maybe one other car a HR Ute after that I just wanna drive them up the Goldcoast Cruze around go to car shows and Summernats live life out before I all ends
@michaelbyrnes7944 mate that sounds like such a good idea, I'm a carpenter by trade... so I'm working on all my own projects with that exact same plan in mind, I want to be able to enjoy and drive my cars, I'd rather do that then have one in "project" status for 15 years and then be too scared to drive it in case of a scratch haha.. well I think you have a good plan, hope to see you about on the road or at a car show one day mate 👍
Hello from Canada . Great video . Nice build very creative . Best wishes
Hello from Australia! thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed it, cheers 🍻
I love that colour! Nice one
cheers mate, it turned out much better than i expected to be honest !
Just found your channel. It's right up my alley. I'm doing two,1Tonners atm and don't want great bodywork or paint. Will have to watch your previous vids. Cheers. And the burny in the shed.😆. Looked sketchy as. Yikes.
Cheers Benny! glad you found TMC, welcome aboard! oh i like the 1 tonners, 2 at once wow good stuff! plenty of everyday tips and "how to" in previous videos mate, and yep.. pretty terrible burnout attempt haha, i will get some tyres ordered and tailshaft and redeem myself i swear 🤣🍻
Well buddy I just found your channel this morning, I'm quite impressed. I pretty much got all the parts figured out but what boxes on it? I guess if I go back and watch the rest of the videos I find out huh. Good job, love the color.
@ronaldlingle8766 this is where I won't tell you so you watch more of my video haha, joking! 👌 glad you found my channel Ron, the engine and gearbox combo are factory. It's from a 2001 AU falcon, v8 EFI, has a T5 manual box, thanks for the comment and hope to hear from you again 🍻
@@TwistedMetalCustoms oh you will I got content icon beeping at me for your channel right now. Talk later

I'm doing a build my doner was a 99 mercury mountaineer AWD into a 99 ranger 2wd with mustang 5-speed. I pulled every bit of wiring from the front bumper to the back doors and am in the middle of transferring to the ranger my dilemma is I'm also fabricating an intermediate intake to mount a lightning supercharger. Would this type of set up support that? I've asked around about the Holley Terminator but all the Ford stuff seems to be for a distributor (foxbody) and like you I don't have one. awesome build ya got there. Definite subscription
@ernestchapman1194 ooh cool project mate! I am pretty sure the J3 chip can support most extra add ons, safest way would email or call TI Performance (or Facebook message ) and let them know your plan and to see if they can supply a J3 chip tuned for your purpose, The J3 chip primarily is to just bypass the security and BCM stuff, so all you will need is a ECU, like me. Then you do whatever you want to the engine, then go get it tuned, as if you would any other motor I believe , cheers for the sub mate! 🍻
@@TwistedMetalCustoms thanks for the info just got done checking out their website and seems as though the stage 3 chip and complete tuning kit is what the doctor ordered. Ironically enough I happened to have a second 99 ranger ext cab that is kinda going the same route as your build except for a351 cleavor and the cab off an old Studebaker truck (basically just windshield frame and firewall) the rest will be a custom Woody wagon 33 Willy's nose and fenders
@@ernestchapman1194 thats awesome mate, that would be a complex build too! also glad that the J3 chip is hopefully what you were after, cheers 🍻🍻
You're awesome Twisty! Great video, epic job man!
Cheers buddy! looking forward to see Ruby completed too!
Killer job mate!
My opinion is don't Patina it. Looks better as is, even with the rough paint job. Just leave it in the aqua until you have time, or just leave it as is and enjoy it. Great job in 7 days.
@darf26 thanks Darf, I would really love to leave it, but as a semi buisness I can't have poor paintwork on my own car as It leaves a bad message haha, either I do it all properly (I'm actually leaning towards this now) or make it faded style, not sure yet though haha, cheers 🍻

What do you do to get that rust off the surface and how do you prep that for paint and undercoat? What undercoat or primer do you recommend? i’m in the same boat here with a 36 Dodge in South Africa and not sure what to do? Any advice appreciated thank you. Barry
@barrygriggs4099 lots of steps to be honest, best way is to get it sand blasted, if not use that disc I show in the previous episode, it needs to go back to clean metal using that , it's the quickest way, then sand metal with 120g, then apply an epoxy primer to the metal, you can bog over an epoxy primer
@@TwistedMetalCustoms Thanks a stack man, i have my work cut out for me then definitely. I thought as much but am not experienced
