I had one of these at my last house - PA zone 6b - and it did great. One winter it died down to the ground, but grew back. Planted one last fall at my current place 6b/7a. It bloomed a little last winter and has some buds on it now, but it snowed today so I don't expect the flowers to open for at least another month. I have it near the edge of a tree line, in a not too windy spot that gets good moisture when it rains. Cool and unusual plant.
Edgeworthia is one of those plants that creates a great deal of zone envy. I contend this is not fair to flaunt this plant to those of us in the deep freeze.
I love this plant. Mine is going into its third winter and is heavily budded however it has not bloomed the last two years. By end of winter the buds start turning blackish, like moldy and fail to open. The foliage continues to grow and it looks great all season. Why do you think it’s failing to bloom? I would like to put an end to this trend.
Really great 12 season plant? Lol, here in Texas we only have 2 seasons. I'm so jealous. (I don't mean to make fun of you saying the wrong word, I just thought it was cute 😊)
The three largest of mine have spread more than 20 feet in part sun. Two others flower in shade, but growth is much less dense. All are overdue for a haircut. Flower buds are damaged below 5F, and they suffered considerable dieback at -5F but recovered fully in 2 years. Autumn foliage color is so-so, and unfortunately, I can barely smell any flower.

I bought a Edgeworthia chrysantha Snow Cream two years ago is a one gallon can and it is already four feet. One of my favorite plants in the garden.
We killed one once a long time ago 😏 but you've inspired me to try again! Great info. All our best wishes to you and Steph!!
Beautiful shrub!

Try it, mine lasted through multiple days of 10-20 here in central KY last winter. I’ve got it covered though for a zero degree forecast this Wed!!
That's funny, Erin. Sorry!
Looks beautiful with the daffodils. 👍

I couldn’t find it at my zone 10 garden centers.
Hi. Thanks for video. Anyone know how we protect against winter? Is it enough to drape a fleece over it when it's below 32º.
I have never needed to protect mine for any reason. Very cold tolerant within its zone.
@ thank you.
