Bike looks great. I am looking at getting a Roscoe 9. I love riding the advanced rock and wood features, rolling slabs and sending medium size drops. I don’t have the funds to get a full suspension bike that is under 30 pounds. So I am gleaning towards buying a well speced hard tail. If I do, bashguard is getting installed.
Awesome content on your new Roscoe 9 / bash Guard. Off subject on your Marlin 5 what did you use to for 11 x1 cassette cuz I was told I couldn’t change from 2x7 to 1x11 I have a Marlin 5 2021 model Again great content I’m learning a lot from your site
Well, unfortunately, you have to change your rear hub to except 11 speed I had a full video how to make a super marlin. It has the most views on modifying a trek marlin five and it was token down about a year ago for copyright that video is what got me recognized in trek bikes
It looks like that particular bash guard - while protecting the chain ring - eliminates quite a bit of clearance when traversing drops or hopping over rocks. Is the amount of space it takes up after installation normal, or are there guards that stick out less that perform the same function and still optimize clearance?
@hardtailrider7172 any time was a long time hard trek marlin 7 and then got nuckproof scout they mega started riding parks and more I jumped faster I got more wanted full suspension plus I am not in my 20s anymore easier on my legs
Yes, they protect the chain ring, crank set and bottom bracket. I had a bottom bracket fail once because I kept hitting a root without a bash guard. The shock going through the chain ring screwed up the bearings. So yes always have a bash guard.

Do you guys think a Hardtail needs a bash guard?

Yes, in my opinion. I bang my chainring on rocks / rock features all the time.
Yes
