You get a higher score for not killing enemies in the game and it's my favorite game, I live my life by this game and I think killing is wrong unless you're using self defense. I would so much love an episode about 80s ilm shots like the iconic trench run sequence in sw with someone that actually worked on shots like these taking about the technology they used and invented like software for controlling the camera and witch hardware it ran on. Also you have talked so often about comping technology on film. But it would be really nice to actually see that done and the problems that can occur with it. Maybe you could try to do it yourself!
Been watching Prehistoric Planet and I think there's tonnes of effects for you guys to dissect. Especially the opening scene with the trex interacting with water.
Kinda always been curious about people going back and using old methods of visual effects from way back in the day. Just for the charm and artistry in it.
Maybe it's just me, but I'd love to see you look at old model work and practical effects. I'm thinking stuff like Star Trek, Lost in Space, Thunderbirds are Go, etc (also, just Godzilla). Maybe you can find a person that did model work, Adam Savage probably knows someone😅. It's always sort of laughable to see the bad, but impressive to see the good.
Still can't believe these lads on TH-cam created something so cool, it has the biggest industry experts in a bunch of different fields wanting to be involved.
5:50 - That is SUPER smart that they had one animator work just on gollumn and one just on smeagol when they were talking to each other in that scene. Whoever made that decision, not sure if it was the guy on the couch or not, but whoever it was, they are smart as hell lol
I would love to hear more on a subject yall hit on around Alita at like 9:50. Its that uncanny valley space. Its weird, but Gollum always looked so perfect though the OG trilogy, but the hobbit and Alita both hit something uncomfortable in me. Its akin to how cable and basic tv looks too clear on a good number of HD tvs. My eyes dont see as well as those TV's present their subject. I dont know, Id like to know more on what yall think. As tech and method get more advanced, is there a point at which it out paces the viewer? Does it change the nature of the film from "filmed" to "animated"?
This is actually a really great episode for the uncanny valley discussion, showing both Gollum and Alita. For me, Gollum and his large eyes doesn't really mess with me as much as Alita with hers. My brain recognizes that Gollum, while having some human like features, isn't quite human enough that his eyes don't really make me feel all that uneasy. Alita on the other hand, with very human features besides the large eyes, does make me feel uncomfortable to the point where I can't watch the movie.
Fot the next time WETA come to visit - give them a big hug from me. The very last sequence of Avatar2 - of the giant fish leaping for joy in the sunset - man... I don't have superlatives to describe how impresive that was… just.. just... thank you Weta.
I was recently watching BBC's Sherlock and they have some really cool scenes where the camera moves through a frozen scene(sometimes with objects frozen mid air), and I'd love for you to break that down
It's truly incredible to see how your work has evolved over the years... words cannot express the talent you showcase with your craft. As someone who is routinely put off by Sci-fi and Fantasy characters, from LOTR to Star Wars, and everything in between (practical and cgi) it was so incredible to see Alita and finally be able to appreciate your work, in such a wholesome film. Outside of the first trailer, the eyes aren't creepy. I've no idea what movie the haters watched, but you and your team did a phenomenal job! Only thing I can figure, is whatever my head does to creep me out about Golum, ET, and literally every sci-fi / fantasy creature in existence... except Alita and Avatar... theirs must do the opposite... or they're just haters (pretty obvious for anyone resorting to blatant insults, calling it a wifu/weeb film)... at which point, we can carry on enjoying this beautiful, technical craft. Keep up the great work, and I hope to see more in the future. Take care my friend!
The comment about lighting the background is interesting. On many movies, the special effects jump out on a screen to me from differences in lighting, contrast, or saturation. It tends to be a bigger issue with smaller screens where my peripheral is seeing a larger portion of the scene. When I saw movies in a cinema, I generally did not notice as much.
I agree. He was actually a really good compliment to Alita, in terms of cgi. Alita has the high-detail face, while Zapan has the high-detail body. To see all the engravings, plus every actuator, servo, cable, mechanism, is just stunning. Few films go to that level of detail.
When they were talking about making light-hearted films vs ones with people getting heads chopped off and Niko said “Or the references they have to look at” I totally lost my smile. I didn’t even think about it 😮

@@Vandius24 sounds to me like you just like blood and guts... judging by your other comments... but that's fine, you do you. I personally enjoy films that aren't a showcase of Gore... but that's no reason to resort to insult.
@@justafan5179 That's nothing like me! I don't even like "slasher" movies. Scream, F13, Halloween, all bad movies. I generally don't watch many movies like those at all. I'm a big fan of Korean and Japanese movies at the moment, Parasite, Hanabe, The Eel, and so on but some of those movies have some gore but you judged me sooo off base. Look at my icon, it's a character from a game about NOT KILLING! You get a higher score for not killing enemies in the game and it's my favorite game, I live my life by this game and I think killing is wrong unless you're using self defense. I never implied I like those movies but you're pulling from the eather.
The eye geometry is incredible
I would so much love an episode about 80s ilm shots like the iconic trench run sequence in sw with someone that actually worked on shots like these taking about the technology they used and invented like software for controlling the camera and witch hardware it ran on. Also you have talked so often about comping technology on film. But it would be really nice to actually see that done and the problems that can occur with it. Maybe you could try to do it yourself!
This sponsored segment was probably the first one I wanted to watch lol
Lol same. 😂
😳🔥🔥🔥
Been watching Prehistoric Planet and I think there's tonnes of effects for you guys to dissect. Especially the opening scene with the trex interacting with water.
Alita Battle Angel was really awesome!!!!!! i hope they make a new one
I have one question. At 14:37 what is a DP?
Alita Battle Angle was a good film! I hope they make the sequel soon!
14:00 I loved that:
"hahahaha *help I've seen things I'll never forget* hahahaha"
I’ve been waiting for a sequel of Alita battle angle for a long time’! One of my favorites(:
“The audience is always skipping our ad reads.”
Jordan: I got this.
I can't believe it's been 97 episodes of VFX React. All I can ever think about when I finish an episode is how I can't wait for the next one.
Still can't believe these lads on TH-cam created something so cool, it has the biggest industry experts in a bunch of different fields wanting to be involved.
Good stuff as always fellas.
Gollum was perfected in the Hobbit, far superior to how he looked and moved in Lord of the Rings.
Starship Troopers, time 1:43:40 when the huge spaceship splits in half. Always thought it looked very detailed for the time is was made.
I always skip sponsored segments, but not today…
"Most Replayed" currently is the sponsored segment lol.
Hunger Games: How the FX improved with each movie (especially the scenes with horses)
Alita honestly disgusts me. I can't even watch clips without having to look away. I've never had that experience before.
Fot the next time WETA come to visit - give them a big hug from me. The very last sequence of Avatar2 - of the giant fish leaping for joy in the sunset - man... I don't have superlatives to describe how impresive that was… just.. just... thank you Weta.
i think the gollum vfx have aged very very well :)
I was recently watching BBC's Sherlock and they have some really cool scenes where the camera moves through a frozen scene(sometimes with objects frozen mid air), and I'd love for you to break that down
Majora’s Mask - Terrible Fate please react to this its ssooooooooo goooood
THIS
Jordan looking good. The tone is incredible. Kinda makes me wanna get CoPilot to look that good. Damn
Avatar 2 was amazing visually with 3D but the story was dollar tree level.
Love your React videos!
Can you guys make a react to the DnD movie? Maybe comparing the old and the new one?
With all the innuendo. The repeated use of "DP" near the end was the cherry on top for me 😂
Alita
The comment about lighting the background is interesting. On many movies, the special effects jump out on a screen to me from differences in lighting, contrast, or saturation. It tends to be a bigger issue with smaller screens where my peripheral is seeing a larger portion of the scene. When I saw movies in a cinema, I generally did not notice as much.
sheesh wasn't expecting to see Jordan like that.
To me Ed Skrein was the most impressive visually character in Alita. That combination of face and robot body looked dope.
I agree. He was actually a really good compliment to Alita, in terms of cgi. Alita has the high-detail face, while Zapan has the high-detail body. To see all the engravings, plus every actuator, servo, cable, mechanism, is just stunning. Few films go to that level of detail.
Sorry but Jordan fine as hell
First sponsor segment I've watch more than once.
Holy crap she's a babe
When they were talking about making light-hearted films vs ones with people getting heads chopped off and Niko said “Or the references they have to look at” I totally lost my smile. I didn’t even think about it 😮
12:58 the noise the editor put in is perfect 😂
