Vince and Bruce on keys together. Fantastic.

First time I ever heard Bruce, he made me think of Jerry's flowing style. I think he and Vince have to be my favorite key players for the band. I know they were mostly interim but their communication with the band and each other really clicked. You can see Jerry loved it too. They had some greats over the years but having keys and organ so well represented at one time really added a lot to the Read's free flowing style.

Hornsby / Welnick combo worked. On a good night it worked, on a great night it was beautiful.

I was a Brent fan, band was never quite the same for me after he passed. That being said I liked both Bruce AND Vince, as individuals AND as keystrokers for the GD. I'm Grateful for every minute I got to see them.

They are fantastic together. Really appreciate the acoustic piano, which was sorely missing during the Brent era.

I always felt bad for Vinny, he was an amazing player but sometimes sounds just don't work together,. I went to Highschool with his (Vince Welnick's) niece in Pittsburgh PA actually lol 😂. When I was 15 she knew I like the dead and got me backstage at a 21 and over show (at 15 this was the coolest thing ever) Matt abts sp? (gov mule) & a bunch of other people were all there for a little celebration of George Harrison after his passing. Anyway all night Vince told people I was his nephew and that's why I was good to be in the show, slamming beers, running around backstage getting into trouble lol. He was such a solid guy to me, here's this 15yr old deadhead asking him about the tubes and instead of dismissing me we talked about music, smoked, bullshit about life. He was just really decent to me and seemed to be a genuinely good person, I know he has troubles but we all do. Anyway just a random story thought I'd share..
One last thing that always makes chuckle about that night. After the show closed out, a bunch of guys were trying to go to the bar. I remember them talking like it was the most natural conclusion that his niece and I and probably some other teenager would go with them when it dawned on me that I had to be in homeroom in 4 hrs lol

good story...I was at this show, I worked right across the street...got off work and was inside the Shoreline in 5 minutes...at the bar before the show, Welnick and a woman came and sat at the table with us...I did not say anything about him or he to me, we just hung out...I could see he was fascinated by the entire scene..he was like a fan

I was in High School in San Diego when my friends & I flew up for this run. Every show was fantastic. The 'New Speedway' this night was a killer. Night #3 (5/12/91) was extremely special. The "C.C. Rider" > "Train To Cry" breakout. One of only two "El Paso"'s I caught outta almost 80 shows. Superb "B.T. Wind".
    Set 2 was divine.

Jerry sounds great, instrumentals overall are spot-on. Harmony during chorus sounds a little rough and uninspired, though. Not sure why Bruce looks confused when it's his turn, but he ends up killing it.

Sometimes focus can have a somber outside look to it. My father was a trumpet player in a great funk/rock band and he would often look straight up irritated or furious even, as I watched from below. He always explained it was just the face of undivided focus in the face of loud sounds and lights and adrenaline.

Brent often appeared manic. Never cared for his raspy voice, especially when he went into falsetto for the high notes.
