That noise that Nova is trying to work out was just an ‘acid house’ sound that was very common in rave and eurodance back in the 90’s it’s in so so so many songs just in different variations. I don’t actually know the official name of the sound is tho

In reference to europapa, I've seen so many people claiming the song is somehow enhanced by his sad backstory. "Oh, he wrote it for xyz reasons" somehow translates to "this song deserves to win" for some people. Also, it somehow makes the song immune to criticism. The last time I checked, it was the eurovision song contest, not the eurovision saddest backstory contest.

Same as when people on X-factor used to be prompted to say they really wanted to win because they'd been through a lot because their gran was dead and their dad was ill or something. Like, sorry you're having a rough time, but those things are gonna happen to almost everyone at some point, and in no way make you more deserving of doing well in a singing contest.

I love love love “We Will Rave”! I can see the whole crowd at Malmö chanting along with the RAVE part. The drum and bass is delicious and sounds real good in the car. This is my number 5.

That intro was gold ! This song couldn't sound (and look) more 90's, I guess it's intentional, but we had the 90's, they were great, but yeah just using all the samples of that era does make it sound cheap and easy. Also the song doesn't scream raving does it, wearing a BDSM suit talking bovy sounds in an empty garage with the top models from Germany screams something entirely different

Guess I'll just be in the minority here lol, this song is sooooo not my cup of tea. I can see how it can be appealing to other people though. It's anthemic and perhaps nostalgic for some. But it just sounds so dated and not in a good way to my ears, perhaps because I don't exactly enjoy the techno rave sounds of that era. Oh well, you can't like everything. But man am I going to be annoyed by this song for the next couple of months because I know it is going to be everywhere. 😅

Prodigy's Smack My Bitch Up might be the song that you're thinking of for the the drum break. Reminiscent of Madonna's Girl Gone Wild and Lady Gaga's Applause in parts.
We still need to see if she can actually sing it. The vocal on the track is VERY produced and being able to dance & mime is all very well… but she has yet to prove her vocal ability.
I remain sceptic for now but would be happy to be pleasantly surprised if it turns that she can actually carry a tune. I suspect she’s more of a dancer/entertainer though.

I watched this video because I like you two, but I do not like this song at all. I want to hear it as little as possible, while holding on to some happiness for people who love to rave and will enjoy this song, and realizing I will probably enjoy the dancing part of the performance in May.

this song is 30 years late. but so do most eurovision entries. i wish that eurovision gets more modern with good quality music. especially in the singer songwriter field which is always rare. instead we get generic dance tracks ala 2001 still. Those cheap dance tracks will never die in eurovision. 2020 and 2021 gave me hope cause it had more quality songs (bulgaria, switzerland, italy, france, romania, belgium, netherlands, ukraine) now we are back in 2001.

It's not reinventing the wheel but its a very cunty tire. It reminds you to the acid samples in music, specially on the vibe of revival acid songs like that one by calvin harris that was very popular.

I guess most of the audience weren't old enough but in the 90's this type of song were a dime a dozen. It would have been completely lost in a sea of identical tunes. Utterly forgettable.

I haven't been able to get into this one and I'm not sure why. I think it sounds dated in a bad way, maybe it's just the vocal effect (which might be mitigated live). I don't really get the hype for it but maybe it'll click, this one should be up my alley.
I feel like there's alot of dance tracks this year and I'm not sure if that corner is a bit oversaturated at this point. Regardless I enjoyed it, nothing amazing but nice.
Also regarding the criticism you got. I don't think you should have to read the lyrics to appreciate a song 🤷♀️. Sure it can be something you love about it and all of that but I think that as a criticism in this context is a bit over the top. Because like you said most people watching aren't going to do that, especially if it's in a language they don't speak. At the end of the day art/music is subjective. Being salty over someone not liking a song you like is pretty childish.
I think this song is SUCH a bop, but if you asked me to guess what year it came from I would not have said 2024. Its sound is very 2009 core to me, which isn’t a bad thing but does date it a little bit. Its reminds me of J-Lo’s ‘On The Floor’. I don’t think it’ll win but it will be bloody good fun to watch!!
