@@alfonsedente9679 Personally I disagree. we've had mostly good metas, the game is fun, and the game's mechanics work very well for a competitive game. IMO Splatoon 3 is the best Splatoon game and the second best competitive game I've ever played.
@@StarWagi ahhh... "The Meta" I like to call that: "The Crutch" How does having a small pre-set selection of weapons that will statistically improve the teams performance... make a game better? Example: my team is 4 aeosprays (pros). If we have to struggle against a "meta" team of (good) players, that kinda shows that the concept of "meta" removes a bit of the randomness to the final outcome of the match. Opinions?
@@alfonsedente9679 meta is generally what you expect to be good in a specific context. Competitive players tend to use options that are considered good for consistency. A bad meta is unfun. That's it. Balance can play into it, but imo a fun meta is a good meta. Plain and simple. Splat 2 final meta was bad because the game was too special heavy and the specials that were good were not fun to play against. Sorry for the overcomplicated explanation, but basically the meta is what you expect to play against and if what you play against isn't fun then the meta is bad. Also I don't agree that the meta is a crutch. Good players will beat worse players no matter what they use. It might be harder to win depending on the situation, but it just makes sense that if you want to win using what is good can be good.
"Dying" is a huge overstatement. Every game has an initial period of hype thar quickly quiets. Games are only "dying" when the player base is too small to find games and that's definitely not the case. I would expect Splatoon 3 to live for years to come!
This makes sense. That's probably what the game is experiencing at this point. I had felt that the community just wasn't as active as it was during release. Thanks for the input
This! Even Splatoon 1 isn't technically "dead" cause I can still boot it up and find a match within roughly 5 minutes or so. It's slow, sure, but not unplayable! Sadly, it'll be gone forever(the online multiplayer) in the spring😭
@@sethfeldpausch4337 Hopefully they don't fully take away the multiplayer modes in the spring- I'd imagine it'd be something similar to what they did in Splatoon 2. Left the servers open but there weren't any more updates
Well, it's "dead" to a lot of people, like me. A lot of people overplayed this game for the first 8 months of it being out. (couldn't be me) and put out the spark they had for the game. I don't see how it's an overstatement if it's dead to people. When the game dies to too many people, then it starts "dying," and it has been dying to a lot of people
@@Joyconic Yeah, that's not happening. There's a difference between shutting down online services and not updating the game. Splatoon 1 is on a different console. It uses different servers than Splatoon 2/3. They will be shutting down the servers for the Wii U and 3DS meaning you will no longer be able to play any online modes no matter what the game is. In the case of Splatoon 2, it's on the switch along with Splatoon 3. They won't shut down those servers because it uses the same as Splatoon 3. So basically, Splatoon 2 will only shut down if Splatoon 3 shuts down. Splatoon 2 has a lot more time
I kinda want to see a story where you are a inkling siding with the octatarians. And do levels to help with the underground cites. It's something that is definitely off but it would be a good way to see the state octatarians are in.
That's true. Plus, Hisashi Nogami (the producer of Splatoon franchise) confirmed that Splatoon 3 will be the last Splatoon game of inklings vs octarians saga.
That sounds kind of dumb in the sense that in that idea, we should just play as an Octarian/Octoling for it. Octavio isn't letting any Inkling join in. Callie is about as close to that as we'll get and it's more because he wanted to use her as leverage against her will.
@@Freelancer837 Hey new games are for new ideas, as long as it's explained (maybe he had somewhat of a change of heart after being on the winning side of Calamari Inkantation, maybe he's just decided it's worth the extra squidpower) I don't see any problems with it. Personally I love the idea of getting to be part of Octarian society, a hushed underground society would be a nice change of pace from Inkopolis and the Splatlands and it's make for some great worldbuilding and potentially some unique idols.
One of the main issues I have with this game is the relatively new ranking system, and as a result, matchmaking. They’ve been ranking people down each season recently and because of this, it’s incredibly common to have x rank players in c rank lobbies, making matches one sided. I personally wouldn’t have minded if they never lowered peoples’ ranks each season because I feel like things would even out better over time, but because of this, it’s not looking like we’ll have balanced matches for the foreseeable future. Because of this, I mainly play salmon run, because I’d rather not go up against a x rank clan team on vc while my team is made up of two gold aerosprays and a brush. And it’s not just in ranked, turf is like this as well. Or at least this has been what I’ve been seeing in almost every match since they made the change
You only go down one rank a season. I don't even think it's possible for someone in X to have gone all the way to C rank. 1 season is 3 months of time.
This is totally false. You lose one rank per season total. For an x rank player to be in c tier then that means they stopped playing since launch, deranked and never played back up. Sorry you just suck.
The medal system is horrible i agree, but i havent played for like 2 and / or 3 seasons at most and the lowest that i was ranked down to was S, maybe they werent as actively playing the game anymore? As in playing the game and going online but only doing Turf and / or Salmon Run as a result. Ik for a fact that you can only get de-ranked down just 1ce as a result of not going online at all, which otherwise just wouldnt explains why im still S Rank even after 2 and / or 3 seasons of not playing the game lol, but regardless i highly suspect and / or believe that those players that youve encountered in C-Ranks lobbies are either just bad players who somehow managed to rank-up thx to luck or good friends with Anarchy Opens grinds (unlikely if u ask me imho), or mostly likely just trolls and sad people who intentionally throw and rank down to ruin other peoples games, its especially bad in league lol but i honestly dk and / or cant tell in Splatoon cuz ive mostly havent met any throwers in S/S+/X Ranks lobbies if at all, so the most likely scenario is probably just that of that those players managed to rank up for 1ce at 1 point in their lives as of Splatooners playing carriers and then just ranked down and always stayed there in those ranks lol, 1ce you unlock the spill its yours forever and ive seen many people complain about this same “issue” as you do but pls trust me when i say that theres no way that theres X Ranks players down there in C-Ranks lobbies, unless you can upload a replay and / or show me that those guys are playing WAY too insanely well for their rank youre probably just having a bias situation.
I have a good feeling that when side order is finally released the popularity will spike up again but since side order is coming in Fresh season 2024 and there will only be one more season after that unless Nintendo announces more seasons I think the popularity will drop off very quickly Great video!
Thank you for talking about some of the main issues in the game and pointing out some that i and prolly many other people can relate to many other youtuberswill only talk about stuff theyre experiencing and its nice to see someone who talks about the stuff every player can relate to your So far i can see this channel going places keep uo the good work man!
Yeah I tried to throw stuff in there that everyone could relate to. Once again, I really appreciate the positive comment! Hope to see you in future videos!
splatoon was never dying though, 1 was hella active till 2, 2 was hella active till 3 even if there were no new updates, in my experience the game is even more alive rn, i can't stop playing since i came back
One issue I mainly have with Splatoon 3 is the lack of content we get. Pushing events like Big Run, Eggstra work and Splatfest into the first month of each season, another splatfest would happen in the last month of the season.Challenges exist but with limited time. Other than that great video as well as great editing. Keep up the good work my guy👍
@maplemiles3381 Okay first of all, I'm not one of those toxic people/weak-minded people. Second of all, I'm becoming a indie game developer. And third of all, I love girls with big titties.
Getting king salmonids is so hard, I never play long enough during one rotation to get one. And even when I get one, I almost never manage to defeat it because I have no clue I can't train enough to find good techniques :((
Things will probably pick back up when Side Order drops. I stopped playing, but once Side Order comes out, I'll jump right back into the game. Less than a month!
I think the most major contributing factor is actually *not* a fault of the game, but a global trend - multiplayer games in general are on a downswing in favor of single-player ones. Also, keep in mind that Google trends doesn't give anywhere *near* the full story. The existing playerbase tends to know where to get information they need, and doesn't Google it anymore.
The disconnects that cause me to lose exp and currency I earned during the match thus wasting my time, along with the sweat matches and bad maps is why I just can’t bring myself back to S3.
Hello, I want to buy the switch and don't sure about Splatoon parts so does this video means that splatoon 1-2 are better? Or everything is ok, but the game is not the same popular as then?
Honestly splatoon is one of my HUGEE hyperfixtations and if i dont get to talk to anybody about it im going to explode. Im glad that i found friends with my same interests but im sad that splatoon is getting less popular D:
The first point you made was the entire reason I didn't buy Splatoon 3. Didn't feel like a big enough jump like 1 to 2 did. Too much recycled stuff not enough new.
While I don’t exactly think “dying” is the right term to use (it’s almost click bait, IMHO), the points you raise are valid indeed. However, it all a matter of keeping a steady player base in the long run that counts. And even if the numbers aren’t hugely high, they are managing to keep a long term mean stability, with peaks and valleys. Besides, Nintendo has announced from the start that there would be two years of updates. And my guess is that once all is said and done, we’ll be able to collect all missing content from past catalogues.
I personally love splatoon and always have ever since it came out in 2015 but im not gonna lie that i dislike the desert setting of splatoon 3 and wouldve loved to see a beach/ocean setting kinda like project splatoon 3 by alexis pflaum. Just my opinion tho would like to see others’ opinion on this.
@@JoyconicIm wondering whether if you are interested in a collab since our channels are really similar and I think it would be fun. Let me know if youre interested!
great editing man! i love when people talk about the state of splatoon and honestly i predict the game will peak again once side order comes out and maybe nintendo will look into giving the game more life such as better quality of life updates now that the team is working on the main game
I think splatfests are not interesting enough for most casual players. The splatfest music, themes and Deep cut influence are really cool. But from a gameplay perspective, its just playing splat battle a few hundred times within a splatfest weekend. I love splatoon 3, and every idol + splatfest get cooler ideas every year. But splatfest splat battle gets old real quick, they really need to make sure splatoon 4 splatfests have interesting modes other than splat battles, or at least make splatfest splat battles different from regular splat battles
Another massive issue I have is that Nintendo isn’t listening to what the community is begging for. They just assume that because they made the game, and not the community, the fans shouldn’t have to have any input on the decision makings for the game
I actually disagree with the idea that the hero mode was an upgrade with Splatoon 3. It's just a poor man's version of Octo Expansion. OE was just way better. Deep Cut's role in the story felt forced and unimportant, they just showed up to show up. The levels make no sense and have no reason for being done this time around. The whole mammalian goo thing and mamalians were hyped up before release, but I quite literally forgot it was a thing until the finality. And even then, it didn't really play in why all of it was happening either, I simply just remembered it existed on my own randomly. It played next to no role in the story, besides just being a small thing Grizz would use in his final plan. The final level (which is just a simplified OE final level) was the only real level of Splatoon 3 that mattered. Even getting the treasure from fightin Deep Cut didn't really matter and was just tact on so that they had a place. Splatoon 3 was sadly as a whole just a "one step forward, two steps back" game.
Honestly i didnt spend that much time on splatoon 2 (i mostly played hero mode and played turf war a few times) but i can say that every time i played it i never once got a single communication error, and in 3 i stuggled to even get to play my 1st game of turf so i could change my name, hopefully they will change the connection system or give pkayers the option to switch from p2p and servers so that the game can be more fun and less frustrating to play sometimes and i feel like its worth mentioning that i got a 70 minute ban oce cause of disconnections in the last 30 seconds of the game But other than my villain rant id like to say that your videos so far are very good and informative hope to see this channel grow a lot
I totally relate to that, rarely ever got communication errors in 2. Honestly feels like they downgraded in this game. 70 MINUTES?? Oh my goodness that's horrible- RIP. Thanks for dropping a comment and for the kind words! it means a lot!
Games naturally always see a drop off in player interest and active players that play say, more than three days a week. Perhaps the FOMO and Catalog has helped keep player interest up. Curious which one is better, the slow drip every week or two from Splatoon 2 or seasons like 3. Couldn’t agree more with Splatfests from 2 being more engaging and interesting with Shifty Stations. The Tri-Color concept just doesn’t work as well imo. Nintendo hasn’t forgotten Splatoon. They aren’t marketing it as hard as Pikmin 4 and Mario Wonder here in Osaka, Japan. They did however release new merch based on Salmon Run in stores. So they are likely saving the marketing campaign for when Side Order gets a release date.
Agree with everything you said here. Personally I enjoyed logging on and every couple of weeks seeing a few new weapons or maps added in 2. Ahh sounds interesting, thanks for the insight!
It's funny! I just started playing Splatoon 2 again and I had way more fun with it than I've had for the last couple of seasons in 3. I'm hoping the 4th installment takes a lot of good from three, but also takes a helping of inspiration from 2. Especially regarding how ranked is handled now, I wish it would go back to the previous formula.
Yeah, makes sense honestly. Splatoon 2 was so much more fresh than Splatoon 3. Also, there were less communication errors, so that probably made it more fun lol.
I love how just 1 TH-cam shorts video of Squid School (a well known Splatoon TH-camr) tears down pretty much everything said here (still very good editing and I hope you do well on TH-cam)
Another thing that the game is getting right (but could do better) are the maps. Like you said initially, many maps are boring and plain, following a simple tetris-shape layout. But Splatoon has actually come out with some really great original maps recently, such as Shipshape Cargo Co. and Robo ROM-en having INCREDIBLE layouts, especially ROM-en, and them actually redesigning Manta Maria to a more diverse stage instead of its previous baren design; it could still be BETTER, don't get me wrong, Manta Mairo is Splat 1 was AMAZING but it's a huge step in the right direction. I think that the best way to save splatoon is fix the online issue, fix the map issue, SERIOUSLY improve on the matchmaking, and bring more flair into the game because right now, yeah it's very similar to Splat 2. If they would only add a new game mode and keep it consistent then it would seriously diversify it from Splat 2, like a new ranked mode or even the Challenges they have going on right now, but change their limited time to being available 24/7. Idk, this is my favorite Nintendo series by far and I really want them to go far instead of just slowly fade into obscurity, its an amazing game, it just needs a few more quirks.
i just want to voice my annoyances as just a casual splatoon fan that splatoon REALLY should've been a "once per console" type game. ik core fans will disagree but i've only been playing this game as of like yesterday after not touching it since launch, i feel like i've missed out on everything. especially with nintendo's "oh we'll do updates for 2 years and then we're done" thing that i hate. i would've played so much more of this game if it was a year 1 title on switch 2, instead of releasing in late 2022 where the entire next year it was competing for my interest with totk, metroid prime remastered, pikmin 4 and super mario bros wonder. yes splatoon 2 had issues, but i still think, could they have not waited at least another 2 and a half years to release this at a time that made more sense. especially because of how terrible the support for acnh (the 2nd highest selling game on nintendo switch) has been, and the fact they're developed by the same studio in nintendo epd, i feel it was kind of a waste to release it on switch. i desperately hope nintendo changes their strategy with long term support because it's ruined a lot of their games like mario maker and animal crossing. hell smash bros doesnt even get patches anymore and that's honestly a bit annoying, like i dont expect any new smash characters, but can you at least fix the issues plaguing the comp scene?
I feel like a big part of getting into any game is the community, and as of right now, the Splatoon community feels very toxic. There are a lot of people getting mad over things like Splatfest results, idols, and even things like whether or not someone uses motion controls. Toxicity can be very prominent and forefront in a community even if its just a small part simply due to how fast it spreads and just how prominent negative things tend to be over positive things. Seeing so much negativity in a community about a game of overevolved cephalopods having nerf gun battles can really turn someone away from getting into a game or series.
I’d have to agree with you, and that’s exactly why i haven’t been playing as often. I just hate the current state of the fandom, be it the discourse around Frye’s loss streak, the straight out online bullying surrounding the game, and just how unfriendly the game can be in total. Sure, I’ll still participate in ranked every once in a while, and also do Splatfest, but as the toxicity has grown, I’ve just turned away from the game. I love the game, I just hate the toxicity.
I totally agree with you. Toxic af. Add the brutal spawn camping, the horrible matchmaking system and the well known connection issues and you have the perfect recipe for frustration. The only ranked mode I do is splat zones. A few turf war to advance in my catalog and some salmon run to get chunks. I really appreciated story mode tho
@@--spiritofthehawk3997 Story mode was definitely fun, unlike the spawn camping. I’ve gotten backlash from people who do it saying, “well, there’s nothing left to do”, or “just get good”, rather than seeing how it’s not fair that the game isn’t progressing as it should. It’s why if I’m on a team that’s spawncamping, I stay back to paint rather than splat.
@@dusk__phoenix I'd also rather paint than splat if I'm in a winning team, is not a coincidence that my main weapon is golden airbrush. The "just get good" advice always pisses me of... it's like to say "get a well paid job" to a temporary worker. Seriously I preferred defeating all those octolings in After Alterna than facing these toxic players...
Great points! For me, this game was just the tipping point for me to realize I don't like Splatoon's map rotation system. I play a lot of plat 2 and 3, but once everything lost the appeal of being new and I found my favorite maps and game modes it became annoying that I had to wait for a lucky rotation to play what I want. Manta Maria is my favorite stage and I haven't been able to play it for weeks because I'm not on when it's in rotation and that's annoying. I pretty much now just play rainmaker and splat zones. If there's a rotation without those or the maps aren't fun I'll just play something else and not waste time dealing with it. I'll be back for side order but besides that I'm not going back to splatoon often nowadays. Too many unfun maps and modes for me.
Me just casually playing Splatoon 2, a game I haven’t actually put time into, just to hear Splatoon 3 came out already after thay had that bow and arrow demo. Man time is passing by like a missile…
A few of my own points: Splatoon 3's improvements are almost 100% back-end improvements. Complete graphics overhaul Major Salmon Run rework New Engine (for better or worse) Reworked Update Cycle. Frankly, it's impressive to see how far they are pushing the Switch with the upgrades they made, but it came at the cost of any REAL new content that isn't just remixed old stuff (challenges, Tri-Color, Etc) On the plus side, the single player modes both appear to be pushing new ways of playing the game that weren't done yet. I will say that there are things which were just flat-put bad decisions that actively harmed the playerbase. Every "new" mode aside from Hero Mode is time-locked. If it was just one or two, it'd be understandable, but out of the 4 "new" modes introduced, all 4 are time locked, and one of them replaced a previously permanent mode. Big Run is the only one I'd consider to use the "limited time" thing right. The Catalog System is actually a really smart idea, but isn't utilized to it's fullest. (You're telling me that NO-ONE thought to give some weapons skins based on each season's theme exclusive to catalogs?!?). The new update cycle is horrid and actively pushes players away from consistantly playing. I won't delve much into the map/second kit issues (I am a Bamboozler main so the urge is strong), but the New or Heavily Reworked stages really need more to make them stand out from eachother, and Support Subs remain in desperate need of reworks. This last point isn't technically because of Splat3, but... The lack of any spinoff games kinda hurts the series at this point. I'd kill for a JRPG that takes place during the Great Turf War, or a 2D platformer where certain weapon classes can be used to platform. This isn't a issue with Splatoon3, but moreso an issue with the franchise currently.
@@maplemiles3381 Hard disagree. 3 months instead of the 1 month cycle is terrible. Less overall content per update and it's a longer wait between content drops, causing the game to stagnate and lose players.
Stagnant means it levels off and recently splatoon 3 is gaining more and more players per update the updates offer a lot which is each season is gaining more positive feedback and it's not because "people are accepting the fact that splatoon 3 is a lost cause" like most of you say on reddit.
Honestly, the biggest thing I want Splatoon 4 to change is that I want its story mode to actually take place somewhere. Splatoon levels are almost all just "We made a random level of floating geometry that doesn't really make sense how or why it exists, but these are the levels you need to play, so you play them." It needs more levels like the final level of Splatoon 3 or OE, where it's level design but in an actual place in the setting. Instead of just Agent 4 hopping into a grate and fighting Octarians on random geometry that has no reason to exist, you should be fighting them throughout an actual Octarian base or something. I love this game and series, but the devs just keep it half-baked. Not to mention the obvious problem that this team does not have enough employees to support Splatoon and Animal Crossing at the same time, so it's just ruining both series instead.
Heya, completely outside perspective here. (Quit at the first season, planning on returning for side order.) I'll be honest here, the reason why i quit was it got boring to some degree. I really enjoyed singleplayer, but the other modes got repetitive, so i ended up just... not playing (also the tenta missile meta happening at the time didn't help lol.)
I didn’t actually know there was a downturn. Couldn’t tell when playing it but I must admit while I still play it, I don’t AS much as I did Splatoon 2. I think part of that is the irritation from the intense grinding you gotta do to get anywhere in it. It starts feeling like work.
no idea if anyone pointed this out, has anyone noticed the "hammer" Nintendo drops when you dc is now just flat out ten minutes? when did that happen?? didn't it use to be five for one dc? my wifi's good before anyone says it isn't, but I've also gotten that wait time before the matches even started, how's that possible man? like bro😂
Big run is now a little too easy. It used to be top 5% which is an impressive achievement. They could’ve at least made separate badges for the golden trophy and top 5%. That’s how it is for x rank.
The game is still very active online. Most of the people who would have bought it bought it by now but it is still a popular seller. There are still a lot of matches. Not a game on the level of Fortnite but it is not a violent game so I can play the game around my kids.
I stoped playing a year ago, I refuse to pay for p2p online when I can play free online games on my pc, if they actually spent the money on dedicated servers, then I would be happy to give them my money. My switch is currently collecting dust on my shelf, with a drained battery
You make great points but I would say that it’s still alive. Obviously there’s gonna be some stats going down because people have lives. When Splatoon 3 came out it was the end of summer and people were just settling in. On top of that when it first came out it was hype. Once side order comes out then it will go up again
If Splatoon is dying, its becuz we havent gotten a good story mode since splatoon 2’s story mode. The DLC was an abomination. Splatoon 3’s story mode was very lame. And side order is most likely just as awful as octo expansion. Splatoon 1 and 2’s story modes are actually Splatoon like and well loved by me.
This is a really simple answer to me. No permanent new mode. The only new modes and features they have brought into Splatoon 3 have been time-limited events that not everyone can play for a number of reasons. Big Runs, Challenges, Eggstra Work and even the Fizzabang feature all COULD’VE been new permanent anarchy modes but Nintendo chose to exploit FOMO instead. I play the game almost every week (and have had the game since launch) and STILL haven’t had the chance to play any Eggstra work. The most disappointing part is no new permanent anarchy mode. I really expected that we’d have AT LEAST one before the end of the game’s update cycle (I even expected one to be revealed before the launch of the whole game in the Direct!) but that’s not going to happen. Even modes like Big Run, I thought they’d make these into permanent modes after new ones stopped but it doesn’t look like this is happening either when it could, and would improve the game.
They’re supposed to be “hard” if you aren’t in eggsecutive VP it’s going to be impossible to get them… it only took me the first day to get the “gold” egg last big run. There’s a known bug that they’re struggling to fix where everyone got the wrong trophy.
Idk i barely expearienced any problems with matchmaking or anything, it might be directed towards where people live, but i did notice that they improved the Communication error before, so i guess its based around luck.....
One thing that will bring me back to the game is if they added rank battles to splatfest. Game has gotten pretty boring because of bad players being everywhere. I don’t have a problem getting them, but I always seem to get the dumb ones every time.
i absolutely love the splatoon series and everything they did to improve 3 (most notably aesthetics wise, as im an artist). the gameplay is so fun but i saw myself in the exact same cycle as splatoon 2. get insanely hyped on release, experience the spectacular world building and addictive multiplayer, basically indulge myself in the game, then quit after a few months playing it daily out of frustration that i can never get better or play competitively because of how bad the connection is. man, this game is so good but i just cant get over the frustration of dcing 3 or 4 times an hour or having no precision because everyones playing on different timelines.
2:30 i dont think it should be easier to get catalog lvls as someone who doesnt grind just plays like 2-3h a day on weekends and like 1-2h on the work days and i average lvl 300
Ngl been waiting for DLC, gets stale between splatfests and even the splatfests feel like they have no life because themes RARELY matter anymore because its a popularity contest that usually favors Shiver. Its not fun anymore
Yeah, makes sense. Splatfests are heavily rigged in favor of shiver. Fortunately, I don't think she'll take the win this time, they're basically GIVING it to Frye.
Personnaly I stoped playing because I was not performing well, the other players were much stronger than me, I was getting destroyed again and again and I was not having fun anymore, so I decided to just stop trying (for those wondering yeah this count as a massive skill issue). Also the community on social media is unbearable but that another topic
how can you call this game "dead" if you're only focusing on US states, i have followed the splatoon franchise in central america, and im sure a ton of players come from Japan as well.. please dont centralize the USA as the only region in the world that matters!!
Haven't touched this game in many months, maybe even a year but I am willing to play side order the first minute it releases like ovto expansion. I hope it will be as fun and at least as long (Octo Ex took me about 3 hours for a normal run )
I think everyone just doesn't are about anything except side order right now and just set the hame down for now until side order comes out its not dying its on a break
This game is NOT dying. Yes, it’s not at its PPC because the hype died down, but if I still get into lobbies in A+, then I’m pretty sure it’s not dead. Yes, you explained the issues, but the game isn’t dead. Wait for SO to release, THEN people will (probably?) not say the game is dead. edit: The video was good though, keep it up!
The peer to peer issue is the most glaring issue with the appeal of splatoon. If you barely play the game enough to complete the catalog why do you expect to be in the top 20% of players in big run? The catalog issue is addressed in recent catalogs with repeated gear.
I have to disagree with the catalog, it is absolutely disgusting to have repeats and insulting to us who play regularly. After a reason the gear should just be added in the store. The catalogs should ONLY have new stuff. Splatoon 3, outside of the main story, is a massively lazily made pos
Splatoon 3 is keeping the vast majority ofnplayers engaged to the game and the current content isn't getting stale so youe reason is 100% factually invalid
@@maplemiles3381 its not factually invalid they didnt add a new mode like how they added salmon run to splatoon 2 since splatoon 1 didnt have any oddball modes like that

for me, i religiously played splatoon 1 and 2, like i played enough to be in x rank in all 4 modes. But when 3 came out, not only was I busy with college, but they didnt really add anything super new to keep me coming back. Specifically, some more ranked modes and several more vastly different weapon types wouldve kept me playing. I love the game, but I dont feel the need to make time for it basically.
Simple Answer, Rollers, Chargers and tryhards. Splatoon 1 was completely balanced. The skill floor for beginning is already on the fucking moon. nobody can beat these annoying tryhards. i have already attempted to attach a mouse and keyboard to mitigate the skillgap. I dont even suck. the weapons are pure garbage. The weapon you received as a beginner in Splatoon 1 wasnt as underpowered as that shit you have now. Actually Splatoon 3 combat is at least 5 times more complex than that of battlefield. If it was more like the combat of Tf2 it wouldnt be dieing. I can play Splatoon 1 without dieing 10 times per match. But i die over ten times in 3. Splatoon 3 Multiplayer is garbage. just stick around for single player.
The reason I don't play it is the control. I can't put a finger on it but there us just something about the control mechanism I can't quite "get". It doesn't feel snappy enough.
Eh, I've played since Splatoon 1 testfire all the way to current Splatoon 3. I think Splatoon 3 is the best game. My issues with the game is just there's no Hero Charger Replica, not every single player level has a charger and you can't use a charger in the overworld of single player like Splatoon 2, and the specials aren't really designed around the latency this game has., they're too fast and instant, you can't really react to them. As for the catalog, Big Run, etc. I think they're perfectly fair to get. I just didn't like that Big Run should be competitive in the first place, even if I could get top 5%.
Theres no hero weapons i haven't finished the story i usually save it for when i completely have no Internet but i see people with the hero shot replica so i assumed there were more? Also how did they get that weapon then?
Shifty Stations absolutely needs to come back in the next game. Splatfests needs to go back to being two teams, we've all seen what three teams is doing so far and how two of the hosts are barely getting any Splatfests wins.
Salmon run definitly needs some more tweaks, like better customization IE choosing your own weapons so those not interested in competitive play have a PVE mode to enjoy
As a new comer, I think I am facing players with 1000 hrs experience. I had no chance. I wanted to play this game but it’s just hard. Edit. So I just gave up
Splatoon just isn’t the same anymore. I remember the first time I played splatoon 2, it was a magical experience, I wasn’t one of the people who had been into splatoon since the first game no I first got splatoon mid splatoon 2 era never played splatoon 1 and I hate that. Yet despite not having experienced the magic of splatoon 1 and only having experienced half the splatoon 2 splatfests, it still felt amazing every second playing that game. I didn’t experience the extreme difference and upgrade with splatoon 1 and 2, so how come splatoon 3 still feels like too little to me?? Side order was a flop imo, tableturf was a flop no matter who u ask, deep cut was also a flop imo, everything in this game was just a flop. Don’t get me wrong tho I love splatoon, when splatoon 3 got announced I was going crazy with excitement, and every announcement from that moment on got me more and more hyped, splatoon helped me find a friend group who have become my favorite people ever, splatoon helped me in so many ways, yet it’s also dragging me down with disappointment and broken nostalgia. I’ll never be who I was then, and splatoon will never be what it was then either. Time goes by too fast. My nostalgia has stopped growing, now only pieces of it remain, nothing new feels special anymore and I hate that because old things die, and when old things die my nostalgia dies, and there won’t be anything left to make me happy anymore
“There’s no question splatoon 3 is dying right now” Yes there is. I’m questioning it right now. How can you even remotely claim the game is dying when it’s alive and functional right now? Games happen quickly and the core community remains hyped, and engaged in all the various community activities. How does USA based Google searches for “splatoon 3” in anyway show how or if a multiplayer game is “dying”??? All it shows is less people search its name, not less people play it Which even besides the point, of course less people play it 18 months later than they did at launch. This is true of every game ever. What matters is if enough players play it to keep it active, which they do. Tournaments are still regularly attended and popular. Splatoon creators get tens of thousands of views. It’s still white hot in Japan. Dumb video. Typical of the American splatoon creator to be in their own bubble though.
I enjoyed Splatoon so much for a long time but then the matchmaking kept getting worse and worse, and then they did something to the spawn rates in Salmon Run too and it's just unplayable and unfun anymore to me, so I don't play much now. Not to mention the stupid communication errors, like you mentioned. Every time something is good for once, I get screwed over. Splatoon became more of a source of anger and frustration than fun to me.
These are good, though the catalog is VERY easy to complete even if you only played a little bit each day. I myself have olayed every single day even if it was just a little bit. But the true honest reasons why Splatoon 3 multiplayer is dying is mostly due to overpowered weapons/specials, as you stated major bad map designs, and matchmaking. I can tell you after playing nearly every day since 2022 that the weapons and specials are the biggest reason players leave. The thing I've noticed is the devs have a bad habit of taking an overpowered weapon and making it stronger or making another weapon overpowered to compete with it. The same is true with specials. The best solution would be massive nerfs across the board or to go all out and make every weapon overpowered to balance. Long Range, Accuracy, and Rate of Fire are the top most powerful dominant traits in this game and are almost unstoppable if a weapon has 1 or all of them. The list of weapon traits is most but those 3 rule uncontested. Part of the reason Long Range is king in Splat3 is due to the maps, as said the Tetris Block design is no joke and is a HUGE issue. The problem lies with almost every map being a bottle neck with no side routes, or barely any at all. Specials are the same, some either need nerfs or reworkings, some that were fine are either too powerful now or ones that were op are now even stronger. I've been in S+ for many seasons now, and many who only play Turf might not agree with all I say but trust me when I tell you that when you play Rank these issues will show themselves asap. Hitboxes are another HUGE issue with weapons, yes we can chalk up a few deaths in game because of the net connection but the hitboxes of projectiles and of splatanas/brushes/rollers is ridiculous. There is a very big reason the top 10 to 15 weapons are picked most, they all share 2 or more major traits and issues. Matchmaking really needs upgrading, your Rank level, playtime, and player level should REALLY matter more. You either get matched against chumps or against a 4 man team with mics. I've read so many stories of players dealing with these issues, quitting and even returning the game because of how unbalanced it is. I 100% agree with them, I love the series but the problems in Splat3 are unacceptable. Better multiplayer netcode could be a great improvement and might even alleviate some issues but it's the fundamental game itself that is the problem.
Ngl, ik this is a dumb take and I have a massive skill issue, but maybe getting rid of motion controls would be better, cause casual genuinely feels like ranked with how EVERYONE is able to just do a 180 and one shot me. Kinda just... ruins the fun of a console game. The main deal with those kinda games is the fact you DONT use mouse and keyboard, but with motion controls if you didn't use them day one of playing you're always at a disadvantage
Hey! Great video. I agree with almost all of your points. However, I don’t think using Google search popularity to see how well the game is doing, is the right approach. I am a HUGE fan of the series, yet I’ve hardly ever Googled anything about it. I am also really excited for side order. Again, great video.
Splatoon 4 with "4 v 4 v 4 v 4" with 4 idols and 4 theme splatfests is gonna be off the chain on Switch 2. Imagine team survival mode like Apex Legends Splatoon.
I find it strange that theres players out there who aren't able to complete the catalog, but then there's me, a dude who works 60hr weeks and plays maybe like 2-3 1hour sessions on weekends and still be able to finish the catalog. I play SR mostly, and I need to convince myself to play turf. I dont touch Anarchy. I honestly hope the game can probide some joy from here on out, but I personally don't think I'll be playing anymore after Side Order. This game caters only to the players who are consistently top 500 and they ruin the online experience imo. I know it's pointless complaining about getting wrecked by sweaty gamers who probably contribute nothing to society, but sometimes I feel like I can't get better because I'm constantly dumped on, giving me no experience to learn from mistakes. What am I supposed to do when all 4 are at spawn? How do I prevent spawn camping? Can I have a chance to breathe? Unfortunately, the answer will always be "skill issue" according to the "cOmMunItY" So, may Splatoon last, but I'm not gonna stick around to see it end
I don't post much, as I find it to be a effort in futility most of the time, but I have to address some of what you wrote here. Note, I'm not trying to be argumentative. I just want to help you with a change of mind, that may help you enjoy the game more in the long run. But it might not. Who knows, so I thought I might as well give it a try. It will be quite the read, but please, if you would, hear me out. "This game caters only to the players who are consistently top 500 and they ruin the online experience" "sweaty gamers who probably contribute nothing to society" I'm a working adult as well, office job, 9-5, all that jazz. I also put in but a few hours after work, but I exclusively only play ranked. I've made it to S+ 10 every season and complete the catalog no problem. Granted, I've played every game in the series, so I do have a lot of experience.(Got to S rank S1, and made it to X rank in all modes on S2.) I know you didn't ask, but allow me to say that the statements I singled out are no good for anyone, especially not you. Don't talk about how toxic the community is, then turn around and do the same thing by using such reductive statements. Shaming people for being good at the game by insulting them doesn't change anything, and just makes enemies for no reason and bad habits. I want to help you avoid that, if I can. Which leads me to... "I feel like I can't get better because I'm constantly dumped on, giving me no experience to learn from mistakes." "I dont touch Anarchy." Let me be the first to tell you that Turf Wars is the worst mode in the game. There is little to no room for mistakes, as the only part that matters is the last 30 seconds. To be competitive at Turf Wars means team coordination that really can't be pulled off by a bunch of solo queuers.(Especially a bunch of solo queuers going up against a team, which can happen.) It involves shutting down the map and guarding all entry points to effectively stop the opposing team from gaining ground.(Yep, spawn camping. That's the way to success in that mode, as horrible as that sounds.) Since the entire map is the objective, it can be hard to know where you need to be, which can lead to early leads and late defeats. It's frustrating. And to top it all off, it's the only mode that doesn't have(or at least seems it doesn't have) Skill based match making, so you can end up with anyone as your opponent. This is why I don't take it seriously, as the amount of chaos and randomness of it just makes you feel like you aren't contributing or are in any type of control, which leads to not knowing what you are doing wrong or right. To that, I say: I implore you, please, touch Anarchy battles. Specifically series. Why series? It's all solo queuers, no teams. Since the objectives are more condensed and not the entire map, it's easier to understand and process the match and what's going on. It matches you with people of your rank.(With the exception of A+ being thrown in with S and low S+ for reasons that baffle me.) Meaning, you'll be around people of your skill level, generally. Are there smurfs? Probably, but that isn't exclusive to Splatoon. Are you still going to get absolutely destroyed sometimes and may even get spawn camped? Yeah, it happens to all of us. In fact, that's the first bit of advice I'll give. Learn to lose and be okay with it. It stinks right? Nobody likes to lose. But the more it doesn't effect you, the better you'll become. Not succumbing to tilt will put you leagues above everyone.(Including me, btw. Though I've come a long way. Still shout the odd "What?! How?!" of "What are you doing?!" Heh.) Next, don't make solo queue plays, or "heroing" as some put it. Basically, running in blind, or at the opposing team head on, expecting a good result. Instead, try to stick with at least one teammate, or help a teammate out if they are in a 1v1. Stuff like that. If at first you don't succeed, try something else. Is the path you take out of spawn the same one every time? Does it end in you getting splatted? Take another route. Do you keep throwing yourself at an opponent to get 'revenge' and they keep one upping you? Stop feeding yourself to them.(This one is tough, I do it more than I'm willing to admit.) Do you always super jump in only to get splatted? Grab Drop Roller or Stealth Jump for your build or restrain yourself and hoof it. Find a single weapon you like and main it till you get 5 stars. Don't change out if you lose. Stick with it and learn that bad boy till you know how to use it in all situations. Also, it'll help you figure out what match ups are good and bad for you. Don't be "that guy" and not use a top tier weapon. It's up there for a reason. You don't have to, but don't avoid them just to make a statement, ya feel me? Coordinate your special. You'd be surprised at how much a match can turn around if you hold onto it and us it in conjunction with another teammate or teammates. Are there times when the game is just against you? Yes. You get on a team of nothing but frontlines while the opposing team has variety. But don't give up. Never give up. Keep fighting. Make them earn that victory, or steal it from 'em by force! And whatever you do. Never. Become. A. Thrower. What's a thrower? The guy that got splatted in the first minute, then proceeds to sit and spawn spamming "This way!". The person that believes their team is beyond help and just jumps off the map repeatedly. The one that squashes all hopes of comeback, since they've taken themselves out of the game and made it a 4v3. Never become this. Throwers are scum. Well, I've typed enough. This is just scratching the surface, and a ton to read, heh. But I hope this solo queuer could help light a helpful fire under ya. TL:DR Turf War is terrible for getting better and for judging skill.(Even top 500's can get their booty handed to them in TW.) Touch Anarchy Series battles. It's nothing but solo queuers, so no teams to worry about. Objectives are more condensed making it easy to understand what's going on. Lose with grace. You're not the main character, stick with your teammates. Something not working on the battlefield? Change it up. Stick with a single weapon and learn it till your purple. Coordinate your specials with your team. Sometimes the games unfair, but not unwinnable. Don't be a Thrower. Thrower's are scum and ruin everything for everyone. Now get out there and raise to the top! I'm rootin' for ya champ!
@sanjuromitsu5893 this was a compelling read. Granted, with my personal experience, I have counters to your advice, but it really is all naysay. Going by your tips, I'm confident I can find improvement in time, but I am stubborn, set in my ways, and truly looking to retire from Splatoon all together. I don't mean to bash on players who are better, if anything, good for them. Everyone deserves to enjoy their passions. I just give in to weakness because I can't keep up, but in no way do I believe in my negative statements. I appreciate your reply, truly. It was a good read
@@kalbex9376 I'm glad you received my comment with good cheer. Truth be told, when I hit that send button I was like "What did you just do?" Heh. Well, I'm not going to force you to keep playing if you'd rather bail. Only you can make decisions for yourself. Though I will say, if you are looking for a way out, the best advice is to... Well, head out. If you've got the physical copy, sell it. Download? Delete it. Make sure to get that save data too. It's kinda tough to find it on the Switch, since they tucked back in a bunch of menus. The quicker and faster you distance yourself the better. It'll stop you from going "But...". Can't hold onto something if it isn't there, right? But again, that's just my 2 scents. Whatever you do, I hope it's the right thing for ya!
It’s even worse because of Splat 1 ending soon, and 2 being dead because of 3. But, it may bring some people to the two games on switch. I do think most will just stick to hero mode, though, and I don’t blame them. I love splat 1, favorite game to ever exist and I haven’t even played, I’ve never had a Wii U, and even though TotK came out ON my birthday, splat 1 just feels more like my game, it feels like my “turf”, y’know? I can’t help but cry at the thought of losing the most precious thing to me. I almost got a little of track there, sorry, I’m just going to go cry now.
Again, this video is NOT meant to tear down anything. Hope you guys enjoy :3
Thank goodness I got recommended your channel.
Nintendo dropped the ball on this one.
This could have been an awesome adult competative game.
"The Meta"
I like to call that: "The Crutch"
How does having a small pre-set selection of weapons that will statistically improve the teams performance... make a game better?
Yeah that'd be super cool! Personally, I've always wanted a co-op story mode, I think that would be fun lol

Reminds me of when people say that Smash is dying. Always an overreaction
Makes sense. Matchmaking does feel quite unbalanced.
@@eonstarI dont remember but 1 things for sure, if you dont go online you dont get de-ranked at all lol, source: me.
I have a good feeling that when side order is finally released the popularity will spike up again but since side order is coming in Fresh season 2024 and there will only be one more season after that unless Nintendo announces more seasons I think the popularity will drop off very quickly

@@Ige-Lano Probably not due to Switch 2 in the coming months.
One issue I mainly have with Splatoon 3 is the lack of content we get. Pushing events like Big Run, Eggstra work and Splatfest into the first month of each season, another splatfest would happen in the last month of the season.Challenges exist but with limited time.
Other than that great video as well as great editing.

@maplemiles3381 Okay first of all, I'm not one of those toxic people/weak-minded people.
Second of all, I'm becoming a indie game developer.
And third of all, I love girls with big titties.
Getting king salmonids is so hard, I never play long enough during one rotation to get one. And even when I get one, I almost never manage to defeat it because I have no clue I can't train enough to find good techniques :((
Frrr tho. Same here 😭
Things will probably pick back up when Side Order drops.
S3 netcode is the reason why i don't even bother playing ranked.
The first point you made was the entire reason I didn't buy Splatoon 3. Didn't feel like a big enough jump like 1 to 2 did. Too much recycled stuff not enough new.
I stopped playing for months.
Found another game interests?
Being bored about the game?
Sweats?
Being a bad player?
All of them and more
Awww im sorry you had a bad time :(
I barely played at launch due to other games and a loss of interest in the series.
The game is keeping a vast majority hooked to the game and this season is fire
I personally love splatoon and always have ever since it came out in 2015 but im not gonna lie that i dislike the desert setting of splatoon 3 and wouldve loved to see a beach/ocean setting kinda like project splatoon 3 by alexis pflaum. Thanks! Honestly I hope we see in influx of popularity with the DLC, and I really think we will.
@Joyconic Me too.
Sometimes, Nintendo listen to criticism, and the more we criticize Nintendo, the sooner Nintendo will address those issues.
@cookis3326 Splatoon 3 is doing amazing in it's current state
I think splatfests are not interesting enough for most casual players.
I completely agree with that 👍🏻
They choose what to nerf and buff based on who wins a Turf War tournament, Koshien. That’s why most weapons get strange buffs and nerfs.

Honestly i didnt spend that much time on splatoon 2 (i mostly played hero mode and played turf war a few times) but i can say that every time i played it i never once got a single communication error, and in 3 i stuggled to even get to play my 1st game of turf so i could change my name, hopefully they will change the connection system or give pkayers the option to switch from p2p and servers so that the game can be more fun and less frustrating to play sometimes and i feel like its worth mentioning that i got a 70 minute ban oce cause of disconnections in the last 30 seconds of the game
But other than my villain rant id like to say that your videos so far are very good and informative hope to see this channel grow a lot
Ahh sounds interesting, thanks for the insight!
the killer is the marketing. always has been.
This series is going far and not going into obscurity this games current season is aging like whisky and living up to it's hype
i just want to voice my annoyances as just a casual splatoon fan that splatoon REALLY should've been a "once per console" type game. ik core fans will disagree but i've only been playing this game as of like yesterday after not touching it since launch, i feel like i've missed out on everything. especially with nintendo's "oh we'll do updates for 2 years and then we're done" thing that i hate. i would've played so much more of this game if it was a year 1 title on switch 2, instead of releasing in late 2022 where the entire next year it was competing for my interest with totk, metroid prime remastered, pikmin 4 and super mario bros wonder.
yes splatoon 2 had issues, but i still think, could they have not waited at least another 2 and a half years to release this at a time that made more sense.
especially because of how terrible the support for acnh (the 2nd highest selling game on nintendo switch) has been, and the fact they're developed by the same studio in nintendo epd, i feel it was kind of a waste to release it on switch.
i desperately hope nintendo changes their strategy with long term support because it's ruined a lot of their games like mario maker and animal crossing. hell smash bros doesnt even get patches anymore and that's honestly a bit annoying, like i dont expect any new smash characters, but can you at least fix the issues plaguing the comp scene?
@@--spiritofthehawk3997 I’d prefer girl power station over bozos that make this community toxic-
Great points!
Maps were one of the bigger issues for me too. They kinda feel stale at this point.
Yeah the maps are so bad even the salmon run maps are stupid except one stockeye station
I never like the octo expansion because of how hard it was to beat the entire dlc
Hahaha man i feel you i remember i was like i have to beat this i paid for this. some of those levels i won by pure chance 😭
Me just casually playing Splatoon 2, a game I haven’t actually put time into, just to hear Splatoon 3 came out already after thay had that bow and arrow demo. Man time is passing by like a missile…
The thanks to the unbalanced turf war!
GAME IS NOT BEGINNER FRIENDLY !!!
A few of my own points:
Splatoon 3's improvements are almost 100% back-end improvements.
Complete graphics overhaul
Major Salmon Run rework
New Engine (for better or worse)
Reworked Update Cycle.
The new update cycle is keeping players hooked
Splatoon levels are almost all just "We made a random level of floating geometry that doesn't really make sense how or why it exists, but these are the levels you need to play, so you play them."
It needs more levels like the final level of Splatoon 3 or OE, where it's level design but in an actual place in the setting.
Splatoon 3 is not being half baked
Heya, completely outside perspective here. (Quit at the first season, planning on returning for side order.)
I'll be honest here, the reason why i quit was it got boring to some degree.
Great video. It was awesome. I liked how you explained it 🎉🙌👏
Cheers! So glad you liked it! Thanks for the kind comment :3
Ive definitely been falling out of splatoon 3, its getting boring and frustrating tbh
Fair
If Splatoon is dying, its becuz we havent gotten a good story mode since splatoon 2’s story mode.
The DLC was an abomination. Splatoon 3’s story mode was very lame. And side order is most likely just as awful as octo expansion. Splatoon 1 and 2’s story modes are actually Splatoon like and well loved by me.
i get matched in seconds i dont think its dying dude
Honestly, I basically stopped playing when I saw Story Mode of Splat 3. It literally just felt like octo expansion all over again and I dont like it.
I physically said out loud “that’s what I’m saying!” When you said that gold badges for big run were really hard to get in solo queue.
lol 😂 Yeah it’s so unnecessary how hard it is to get
They’re supposed to be “hard” if you aren’t in eggsecutive VP it’s going to be impossible to get them… it only took me the first day to get the “gold” egg last big run. There’s a known bug that they’re struggling to fix where everyone got the wrong trophy.
I got it first try somehow it was way too easy then as i got into vp 200 it felt impossible to get a higher score
*20$ a year*
lolll ikr?
The only reason i quit was because of Nintendo Online
Idk i barely expearienced any problems with matchmaking or anything, it might be directed towards where people live, but i did notice that they improved the Communication error before, so i guess its based around luck.....
One thing that will bring me back to the game is if they added rank battles to splatfest. Game has gotten pretty boring because of bad players being everywhere. I don’t have a problem getting them, but I always seem to get the dumb ones every time.
2:44 my instant reaction “AAAAAAA”
Screaming in pain
i absolutely love the splatoon series and everything they did to improve 3 (most notably aesthetics wise, as im an artist). the gameplay is so fun but i saw myself in the exact same cycle as splatoon 2. get insanely hyped on release, experience the spectacular world building and addictive multiplayer, basically indulge myself in the game, then quit after a few months playing it daily out of frustration that i can never get better or play competitively because of how bad the connection is. man, this game is so good but i just cant get over the frustration of dcing 3 or 4 times an hour or having no precision because everyones playing on different timelines.
In my eyes the main problem really is their poor marketing and lack of publicity anywhere that isn't Japan

Personnaly I stoped playing because I was not performing well, the other players were much stronger than me, I was getting destroyed again and again and I was not having fun anymore, so I decided to just stop trying (for those wondering yeah this count as a massive skill issue). how can you call this game "dead" if you're only focusing on US states, i have followed the splatoon franchise in central america, and im sure a ton of players come from Japan as well.. please dont centralize the USA as the only region in the world that matters!!
You do realize that Europian players exist aswell + good comment
Haven't touched this game in many months, maybe even a year but I am willing to play side order the first minute it releases like ovto expansion. I hope it will be as fun and at least as long (Octo Ex took me about 3 hours for a normal run )
I wanna see what it was like during the Great Turf War
I think everyone just doesn't are about anything except side order right now and just set the hame down for now until side order comes out its not dying its on a break
This game is NOT dying. Yes, it’s not at its PPC because the hype died down, but if I still get into lobbies in A+, then I’m pretty sure it’s not dead. Yes, you explained the issues, but the game isn’t dead. Wait for SO to release, THEN people will (probably?) not say the game is dead.
edit: The video was good though, keep it up!
Fair. I do think Side Order will really bring back some activity to the community. Thanks! I'll try to address better points in my next video
I’m bad at the game so I stopped playing 😔
The peer to peer issue is the most glaring issue with the appeal of splatoon.
If you barely play the game enough to complete the catalog why do you expect to be in the top 20% of players in big run? The catalog issue is addressed in recent catalogs with repeated gear.
I have to disagree with the catalog, it is absolutely disgusting to have repeats and insulting to us who play regularly. After a reason the gear should just be added in the store. The catalogs should ONLY have new stuff. Splatoon 3, outside of the main story, is a massively lazily made pos

for me, i religiously played splatoon 1 and 2, like i played enough to be in x rank in all 4 modes. But when 3 came out, not only was I busy with college, but they didnt really add anything super new to keep me coming back. Specifically, some more ranked modes and several more vastly different weapon types wouldve kept me playing. I love the game, but I dont feel the need to make time for it basically.
In terms of main stream gaming popularity, S3 has definitely fell off
The game is very very popular in Japan and the third game is still very popular on a global scale.
Splatoon 3 Multiplayer is garbage. just stick around for single player.
new splatfest just dropped
Who's haters have the biggest skill issue?
Shiver: Rollers
Frye: Chargers
Big Man: Tryhards
Agreed
I actually don't remember the last time I've gotten DCed lol
Literally how??? lol I can't go a session without getting DC'ed
Me neither. Some people just have poor Internet I guess
Wow, all the way from the testfire huh? That's crazy. I missed the Hero weapons too lol
Salmon run feels like it's lacking. I think those would be a great addition.
I stopped playing due to me being a rage player
Oh no- yeah Splatoon can be quite frustrating at times lol
“There’s no question splatoon 3 is dying right now”
Yes there is. All it shows is less people search its name, not less people play it
Which even besides the point, of course less people play it 18 months later than they did at launch.
At least this game did not meet the same fate as Redfall, Concord, Suicide Squad, or Skull & Bones.
The game is growing not dying for a matter of fact
Ngl, ik this is a dumb take and I have a massive skill issue, but maybe getting rid of motion controls would be better, cause casual genuinely feels like ranked with how EVERYONE is able to just do a 180 and one shot me.
Kinda just... ruins the fun of a console game. The main deal with those kinda games is the fact you DONT use mouse and keyboard, but with motion controls if you didn't use them day one of playing you're always at a disadvantage
Bro reading this actually made my day thanks man

The problem is Nintendo.
Unfortunately, the answer will always be "skill issue" according to the "cOmMunItY"
So, may Splatoon last, but I'm not gonna stick around to see it end
Wow, that's surely a lot to manage. Good on you man. I might find myself making the same decision, but I'll see the state of the game at the time.
"This game caters only to the players who are consistently top 500 and they ruin the online experience"
"sweaty gamers who probably contribute nothing to society"
I'm a working adult as well, office job, 9-5, all that jazz.
"I feel like I can't get better because I'm constantly dumped on, giving me no experience to learn from mistakes."
"I dont touch Anarchy."
Let me be the first to tell you that Turf Wars is the worst mode in the game.
How?!" of "What are you doing?!" Heh.)
Next, don't make solo queue plays, or "heroing" as some put it.
Ikkk I'm so sad about that too. I literally grew up on splatoon 1, and it's gonna *hurt* to watch it go. That was my game too :(
I heard more go to salmon run so Splatoon 3 is not a dead game your just here to gloat because of the title
Bro if the devs hired me I’d crack down on everything content wise. idek where to start with all my ideas
