Could you imagine dropping that bad boy off on a porch in the early 1900's? I dare say, it would have scared even the most stout-hearted trick or treater right back to their homes and possibly changed how Hallowe'en is viewed today/
You'd be surprised to see how some people carved their pumpkins back then.
I saw some old photos of carved pumpkins that looked rather grotesque.
My father's carved pumpkins would fit right in. 😆
It is like watching a terrifying Bob Ross ... Awesome!!!
@@karlsenula9495 😂😂 thank you!
I’m dying here lol everyone is out of your foam. Not available until Nov 1st. That’ll teach me to buy earlier
We have been selling so much of it!! But don't worry I have 2 big orders dropping soon to the shipping center!
Check out more of my complete builds, walkthroughs, and HD-Foam at www.SKSProps.com
This pumpkin is saying "You tryin' to make pumpkin pie outtuhv me?!!".
These are always horrifying and I can't look away! Thanks for sharing another awesome pumpkin build!
Thanks! And you’re welcome! 🙌
I think out of my foam crafting journey the biggest struggle is getting foam clay to work well for me. Me and sculpting dont get a long. Still need a lot of practice in that area. Love your videos and using your templates
That is my issue too!
Thanks! Sculpting definitely is a different skill set and the only way to get better is to practice! In art school I hated sculpting class and now I love it
I struggled at first. Still struggling, but getting better. Watching Steve has increased my skill tenfold.
I’ve always wanted a Mumm-Ra mask from Thundercats! Is that possible with Eva Foam??
@@X_factor23519 anything is possible just match up multiple tutorials of mine. Combine the mummy mask with the detailing of the krampus mask m.th-cam.com/video/7iSyYUzBCPE/w-d-xo.html
Very nice, Very good Work but imagine working on All that on the Foam pumpkin when people's eyes can't handle chemicals anymore! Can't use Clay or Any clays, can't use any sort of Paint and can't use any Glue except maybe Kid's Glue school glues! It sucked, Badly! But if your eyes can handle all those chemicals go for it keep up the Creative works! ❤️
That sounds bad but you can buy a foam pumpkin and cut it with a reg knife not a heat tool. and the great thing is foam clay , acrylic paints, and mod podge for glue are all non toxic products that's why I use them
Now that's a creepy jack-o-lantern if ever I've seen one! You've (once again) done a fantastic job.
Thank you very much! 🙌🙌
I absolutely love your work and your videos. As an amature costume-creator, it's all so helpful. Thanks!
Thank you glad I can inspire 🙌
I would love to see a video just on your paint techniques! I often rewatch those sections of your builds just to see how you bring all the washes and layers together. This is another masterpiece!
Thanks Shawn! Painting is my favorite part allows me to bring props to life
You got mad sculpting skills, Sir. Always look forward to your Halloween videos. Bet your kids loved this holiday the best.
Thanks man! I appreciate it 🙌
Hi Steve, I'm carving my own foam pumpkins from Michael's and Joann's Fabrics. My wood burner with blade attachment isn't slicing easily through the foam. What wattage and temperature are you using? Brand and model of burner?
There’s a link to the one I use in the description section. It has a temp gauge and I just put it on the highest setting
Thanks Steve. I just ordered the burner using your link in the description!
Perfect level of detail in this tutorial - I was able to get all the supplies and make one of my own (1st time) - it turned out really well! That foam clay is an awesome product!! 🎃
Fantastic! Glad I could help 🙌
Awesome video, your props are always so larger-than-life cool! Also, thank you for consistently showing (and speaking about) safe practises when it comes to crafting ♥
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it 🙌
Yeah unlike five minute crafts
make Mihawk's hat
Your work is incredible but I wonder, do you think you can make a legend of zelda orni with eva foam? My nephew was amazed by his wendigo costume but now he asks me to revali but I don't know how to do it.
Love the pumpkin and the eyes but can u make a hornet mask from hollow knight?
What brand of foam clay do you use? The kind I have does not behave that way and is difficult to do much with. The kind you have looks much more malleable.
It’s my own brand there’s a link in the description section 👍
How difficult do you think it would be to make it into a mask? The pumpkin itself seems pretty stiff so I imagine the hard part would be finding an easy way to put it on and take it off
I turned one into a mask a couple of years ago check out that tutorial th-cam.com/video/tlCG92qxThI/w-d-xo.html
Great now I can really scare everyone!!!!🎃👻
How I’d love to do this as a profession! What would you recommend for someone just getting started? Did you take any sculpting classes?
I went to school for art. But a lot of people start by just jumping in and trying it out. See what works for you 👍
Hey there!! You’ve inspired me to finally jump back into crafting & cosplay.
I was just wondering if there would be any chance you might make Guts Beserker armour? Maybe Dragonslayer from Beserk?
These are both big dreams of mine but there’s not many sources/tutorials on how to make them. They are quite big projects though so it’s understandable
Thanks! I just make whatever inspires me week to week so not saying I won't but I don't have a specific timeframe for them
Did he mean cadmium yellow? Because it looks yellow not orange
@@kimberlycroteau3683 no it’s cadmium orange for the base color on the eyes and pumpkin drybrush. Cad yellow is used to highlight around the pupil.
Maybe your devices brightness or color correction is off
You are very talented. I would love to have a couple of these for my Halloween Party Decorations. Would you be interested in making a couple for sale?
Unfortunately I no longer take public commissions that’s why I do the videos for others to make their own
Your work is always excellent. I am new to crafting with HD and foam clay and your videos are great tutorials in tips, tricks and ideas. One of the things I am still struggling with is the foam clay and how to keep the texture and grooves in it as it drys. It seems after I leave it over night I wake up an d most of the texture if not all is gone. Do I need to constantly carve into the foam to keep texture? You help with this would be extremely helpful as I am making a foam pumpkin now and using foam clay on the stem. Thank you.
Don’t worry that’s normal. Every brand is different and why mine has a higher moisture content. but Foam clay on average will smooth out details as moisture wicks out of it so you have to sculpt them much deeper than you might think. Also why on props I’ll just let it dry for several days and detail it using my rotary tool and wire brushes
Dude, that’s so AWESOME! 🎃👍👍
Happy Halloween 👻
🙏🏼🌏✌🏼🕊☮️
Thank you!
I wish i could get your Foam products in my country in Europe. Here we only have low quality eva foam.
☹️ that stinks. I wish I could as well but at this time my distributor is just US based
Looks absolutely stunning 🎃💀🖤🎃💀🖤🎃💀🖤
Thank you very much! 🙌
Gross, scary and completely amazing!
Thank you! 🙌🙌🙌
How does it handle outdoor weather???
@@karlsenula9495 if you intended to leave it outside I’d recommend a clear coat of some kind of urethane. But sunlight is going to destroy the coloring on any of these plastic pumpkins regardless if you paint it or not.
@@SKSProps thank you
@@SKSProps so maybe if info put it outside do so close to Halloween ...
wow u could should work for disney or WB thats crazy
Thanks! Teaching people is what I enjoy and much more fun than working for a company
Looks like my uncle Gary.
we don't have foam pumpkins in Germany :(
@@1265snake I do have free templates to make your own eva foam pumpkin on my channel
SO AWESOME!!!I'm gonna make some as well.
Have fun!
Increíble
Thank you!
Truly horrific. A great addition to your scary pumpkins.
Thanks you!
Freakin' awesome. I love it!
Thank you very much!
Wow l’m so Amazed Thank you 🎉😊
You’re welcome 😊
Definitely don't have the patience to make one myself.
Do you sell them on your website?
Unfortunatley I no longer take public commisssions I just don't have the free time, thats why I put out the videos for others to make their own
@@SKSProps
No problem, appreciate the free content.
Keep up the great work!
Here I was hoping you were gonna make the pumpkin out of foam first.
I did that 3 years ago go back through the videos
My father would love this, he used to carve up pumpkins to look very grotesque.
Man this shit looks so easy.......but it most certainly isnt. Lol
True 😉 but hopefully I make it look easy enough for people to give it a shot
This is awesome just wish I could get a hold of the foam pumpkins in the UK
I did do an eva foam pumpkin tutorial a couple years ago it might help you out
How well do those materials hold up it you display it outside exposed to the elements?
Mine are inside. Outside you’d want to seal it with a polyurethane but the sun will eventually fade the colors
BERSERK ARMOR!!!!
great a new obsession lol!!! that is amazing!!
Thank you! 🙌
Amazing video! I'm making my first prop with SKS Prop Foam Clay. Could I use Mod Podge as a primer instead of Plasti Dip or Flexbond?
Depends on if it’s outside modpodge is water based and can have issues in the elements. But if it’s inside should be ok. But I would only use plastidip or flexbond if it’s for costumes. Mod podge will wrinkle the foam
Thank you so much for your insight! I’m making a dagger that’s going to be more of a decorative piece and kept inside (and hopefully will last a long time). In a previous video where you made prosthetic horns with SKS Prop Foam Clay, I think you didn’t use any primer and just used acrylic paint. Will a piece have longevity without a primer/with just Mod Podge as a primer? Thank you again!! I really appreciate it
@@kaylashepherd8526 the foam sealer just helps protect the foam as well as fill in pores so it doesn’t soak up more paint than necessary
That makes sense. Thank you again!
great work! what type of clay exaclty do you use?
Links in the video description
Did you paint the inside black?
I did a little bit but it doesn’t matter since his mouth is full of straw anyways
Utlizing this method to create a jack-o’-lantern head to go on a 3’ skeleton body. Going to be a pumpkin imp proudly displaying his harvest in a basket. Great video!
Thank you very much!
What hot tool are you using?
@@KARRRTviaDSC links are in the description section
UV Resin also works along with being able to make strands of clear slime and such between teeth
Damn! That is AWESOME LOOKING!!. I'd love to have about 20 pumpkins like this. My neighbors already love my decorations, but they'd go nuts over these.
Thanks!
Watching this from my home in the Scottish highlands where Halloween isn’t a big deal….unfortunately, as I love it. Your work is incredible and I wish I had the means to try making stuff here - everything sold up here is super expensive due to transport costs and tax, but if I win the lottery or bag myself a sugar daddy, (who’d have to be pretty old given that I’m 45), I’d buy everything I needed to keep me making stuff for the rest of my life! Much love from the Isle of Skye 👍🏻🏴
Thanks! Hopefully you can some day
Absolutely fantastic!!
Definitely, will give this a try. Seems like well placed LEDs might add a bit more drama.
Maybe some ground effects, under-glow lighting.
Thanks!
Can this be located outdoors and not breakdown?
I’d probably do a spray coat of polyurethane but the sun can and will fade the paint eventually. But the elements shouldn’t affect the pumpkin, foam, or foam clay
i want to cut it to make it a cool mask
Do it 👍
So, I use foam clay a lot, but for fake food.... I also make "horror dolls" from thrift shop dolls, and honestly I never thought to use foam clay because I wasn't sure if it would shrink or dry wonky... I usually use dap sir dry clay, but that has its own potential issues and I don't have as much of it around.
Now, seeing this, it has me rethinking that thought process, lol! I also use plumber putty, which is a 2 part clay epoxy that is WAYYYY cheaper than the artist 2 part epoxy putty and is basically the same thing. I just find it dries a bit faster, so it's harder to work W if you need more time to scuplt it.
So glad I watched this video 😁 thank you!!
You’re welcome! 🙌
I’m in love! ❤ I’m gonna make one
@@doreecarrasquillo3392 thanks! Have fun 👍👍
This is my first time watching one of your videos.
I really want to try and make one of these! I carve real pumpkins with my kids every year, and as you said, it's always a bit of a shame to have to throw them away.
Now, I just have to pluck up the courage to actually try...!
Go for it!🙌
Thank you so much for sharing this video
No problem 😊

great job, super scary, and thank you for the thorough explanation! Happy Halloween!

You totally deserve it, really cool aesthetic!@@SKSProps
You should sell templates for people like me who are not good at drawing. Make the templates in different sizes that match up to the 3-4 sizes craft stores sell
I already made a template for craft pumpkins I put it out 2 years ago
@@SKSProps where is that template located and what size pumpkin did you use? thanks so much and love your videos
@@ShawnFrance-v7e all templates are on my website this was a 13” pumpkin
@@SKSProps I truly hate bothering you again, but the pumpkin with the eyes template is what I would love to have. It was not on the template page. Thank you for your quick response and your kindness.🤩
@@ShawnFrance-v7e the cutouts for this were drawn freehand to match the size of the eyes used. Otherwise use the template from the hot knife carving video.

Is it ok to secure the eyes last.
you can do what you want to on your build but putting them in early allowed me to then sculpt the foam clay around the eyes and blend it into the surface
