I am sure Sony will definitely spread its tentacles into PC with its own platform
Hey if they can add in a big picture mode that pretty much gives you access to the PS5 home menu or the PS4 home menu then I'm down for it, make a Linux distro that launches the ps launcher in big picture mode instead of the desktop
Many tried it and then falled back to Steam aka Bethesda,Activision and many more.
@@animationmann6612 lets hope so…
And like every other “launcher” that can’t be bypassed, I will use RocketLauncher with a collection of ahk, macros, fullscreen fades/covers, and scripts to keep it hidden off the screen so it never shows it’s stupid face.
Deploy a fullscreen fade (image that matches your full resolution and completely covers any dumb splash screens/popup notifications/starting game window/launchers/etc., as it runs clicks/button presses in the background to start your game, then when the AppWait FadeTitle screen shows up, the fade image will slowly fade and show your game.
No launcher visible at all.
There's nothing wrong with Sony bringing back a launcher on PC. People seem to forget Sony was on PC even before Steam existed.
Playstation will totally make their own launcher one day and pull their games from Steam. You know they don't like that 30% and they have been testing the waters with these ports and they are selling so I'm sure they started working on their own store to maximize profits. But if it's not steamdeck compatible I think they will see a sales dip as I'm sure there are a lot of rebuys from PS owners to play on the go
Everyone that pulls their shit for their own platform fails and comes back with the exception of Epic, which has limited exclusives. Valve is just way, way more popular and will be the bulk of sales. Microsoft model is more likely, give folks an alternative ecosystem to join if they move to PC, in the same way xbox has their own
For big sellers the cut is actually smaller than 30% (though I can't find any exact numbers right now that aren't from 5 years ago). I'm sure Sony would like to sell through their own launcher, but I'm also sure it would hurt their sales. I guess we'll have to wait and see what their protections say would make them more money... I would probably ignore them if they no longer released on steam. There are way too many good games anyway and I prefer to stay on steam, so as long as I can't even get through my steam games, why would I bother with their launcher? I'd just save money and not get their games.
@hb-robo oh I agree they shouldn't but still think they would eventually. Maybe start with same day releases on their store only and release on steam a year later or something like that to draw people to the platform. But ya, time will tell.
@@hb-robo nah it would succeed. People want Sony's games, and they know that, if they made their own launcher people would gladly use it (granted it's not as terrible as EA)
They shouldn't but they certainly will try it
Got lucky enough to get into the Hades 2 technical test! Working great on the Steam Deck so far, excited to dive more into it this week.
That dig at EGS... Chef's kiss. Well done.
Great video! Playing Tsushima on the PS5 right now after owning it for a year 😅 really great game, will be awesome on deck I believe
No Rest for the Wicked runs great on the Deck UNTIL you hit Cutscenes where it tanks to 5-10fps and sometimes freezes completely. Wait for a couple updates before playing
Rip to anyone who got a portal 😂🤡
Listen... it's still really convenient and has nice battery life. I'm coping? 🤡
😂
That's a good thing vecause they are not going to make anymore of them , making them rare I bought 2 one open one sealed and I'm not broke so I didn't even put a scratch on my wallet 😂 dork
@@edwinpabon6861Oh wow! You are sooooo coooool.
Seriously what do you get out of making fun of people’s purchases using their own money?
dangerous lands if these greedy people start demanding PS+ for online play on PC.
Oh man - Sony would get torn to shreds if they tried that over here
Sony would get an insane amount of backlash if they seriously tried to introduce paid online stuff on PC.
I just left the PS+ ecosystem after 15 years of paying. I’m NEVER giving them another cent to play online. I’ve always hated it and now I’m free I’m never going back.
@@fawkesandhound Same here, hell Im a new PS user as of 2022 and I gave them my $ for a bit to see the hype/what they offered and I realized it was a scam. I just play Single player games on the PS now I don't need Online to be satisfied I just play online on the Xbox/Deck.
@@fawkesandhound you actually have only needed to pay since the launch of the PS4 (assuming you immediately got one at launch) which was a little over 10 years ago... But I do understand the sentiment :) and I don't think Sony has any chance of getting PC gamers to pay for that.
That is really good news actually, as I recently completed Ghost on PS5 with around an 84% completion. I preordered for steam anyway as Ill definitely play through it again in glorious 5120x1440. Thank you Nixxes!! You have definitely sold playstation games on PC to me due to your great ports! 👏
Hey I love my Portal. Great video!
🤣🤣 I do too actually. Good battery life, big screen, really light. I do wish they would give more support and have tech that matches chiaki
Funny really funny 😂😂😂
As Supergiant are masters of delivering stellar art on a small technical budget, I didn't expect any less from 'em.
Also, considering how much Valve featured Hades in their Deck videos I guess this is kind of a courtesy in kind.
Crossing my fingers hoping I get access to Hades II
Anton Blast is really fun it's like wario land mixed with crash. The crash easter egg in the first level might help with that lol.
I would like cross buy, that said it would completely defeat the purpose of them launching the title on pc (for them). maybe well get lucky and theyll give us a coupon or something. doubtful tho
Yeah I'd 100% settle for a coupon or reduced price
Hell id even take PlayStation store cash back kinda deal. Like $10 store credit, but don't think valve would like either as well or PlayStation
I disagree, people that don’t own a ps5 are a huge majority of gamers (~80%)
Tbh, I think some people wouldn't agree, but I'd be chill if there was like a $20 "porting" fee or something that was less than the cost of the game and would let you "buy" games you've already purchased on other platforms.
@@hb-robo Yes, but there's some people that also double dip and they're taking away money from themselves if they offered both for the price of one. If it was for their store only, I could see as a benefit as a business.
While also offering no tangible benefit beyond goodwill of costumers and theirs also a cost of porting these games via salaries, publishing, logistics (ie who gets it for free, we have to get keys for that and etc) and marketing. Consumer wise, man id love it, as a business it doesn't make sense when they're in a dominant position
I finished ghost of tsushima on PlayStation, now iam excited to play it on my steam deck

@@alvallac2171urrrrmm what the sigma
Me too man
if Sony starts selling games on their own store or have their own separate social system for PC, it legit defeats the purpose to me.
I use Steam, my achievements are on there, my friends are on there, my saves are on there *and* they're manually accessible from both my PC and the Steam Cloud (you can manually download the cloud save file if youre having issues). A huge reason I stopped paying for Xbox Gamepass was the saves being locked to your account, making migration or troubleshooting basically impossible, and games getting dropped month over month. Similar thing with EGS: if I know I might want to 100% a game, even bit by bit over the next few years, I want that to be tied to an account on a platform I actually use and trust won't just randomly break on me one day. Considering the amount of games and trophies I already have on Steam (even in some PlayStation games like Spider-Man and Miles Morales), I don't see a reason for me to use a different platform now.
I know the goal is to expand it in the future, but for as long as PlayStation associated games like Death Stranding and Persona that are now on PC independently of any Sony effort continue to use Steam Achievements, why would I start using the Sony system for maybe 5-10 games out of my 500+ PC library? The answer is I won't. Getting a digital trophy on X platform rather than Y is absolute nonesense and only really a feature for people who have and use a PlayStation already. Trophies in general are barely a feature already, was it really necessary to make that proprietary?
I am paying for a PC game, not a tie in to your console ecosystem. Even if every game on Steam that's also on PlayStation gave you the achievements you already have on Steam on PlayStation by default (which it won't) and Sony continue to use Steam and Epic achievements in the future, there's still no reason for me to engage with the new system since I only own a PC, and I do not have a Sony friendlist. Essentially, the Sony overlay becomes mandatory bloat I pay for to play Sony games on PC, even when none of the features matter to me. And thats if it's not plain out setting up a removal of said features on other PC platforms in the long term, or a PlayStation PC store.
And finally, we come to the online services. Why would I pay money for an item tied to Sony's online service they are liable to shut down at any time? Why would I trust my game save to a company with absolutely no track record for cloud saves long term, especially on PC? This honestly just sounds like Sony trying to set up an ecosystem to try and justify not putting their PC ports on Steam and Epic in the future, and dodging the fees. There's a reason people use Steam over any other platform on PC and it's reliability. Taking that away from the player and sprinkling in new features like "cross saves" (which are already a thing in games like Cyberpunk) would just show that Sony does not care about the customer experience on PC, but only about control and ultimately about their console players.
It remains to be seen how the overlay is actually implemented, but the fact they paid for work on a feature that basically only improves the experience of PlayStation owners on the PC platform is already telling enough in my opinion. We don't even know if we'll be able to turn it off or uninstall it yet either, and they're already accepting pre-orders. Sony went from offering their games on other platforms to try and recup profits from those sales, understanding that the PC market will pay for a game when made reasonably accessible and feature rich, to trying to shift that same market away from what they're already using into something else they have control over. And why exactly? It's just dumb and will most likely result in rampant piracy if it gets too aggressive. It seems like a classic case of a company trying to manufacture a solution to a niche problem, hoping to be able to monetize it, only to make things worse for everyone else in the process.
Why should I give Sony money for an imaginary license to a game they can revoke whenever they want with no legal repercussions when I can have the same experience with a pirated copy? For the Sony achievements I'll never see or use? For the cross saves to a console I don't own, whilst potentially breaking compatibility and ease of use with Steam Deck? Is that worth 60$ and the chance of your game disappearing/breaking in major ways? I don't see any reason to pay for a Sony game on a Sony store on PC, yet that seems to be where they're headed, regardless of the success they've had so far because of the lack of a proprietary infrastructure on PC.
Great video....after watching the latest nerdnest video i thought creators have run out of steam deck content
Haha what happened on NN? I didn't catch enough of the latest?
News has been a tad slow but for me personally, I've also been a little busy with life (mostly in a good way).
@@FanTheDeck i respect the man for his enthusiasm and age but recently have been using clickbaits with barely any useful content on his videos....
I mean if there is nothing to make a video about; just wait until there are some worthy news
I'm glad Sony made a overlay for PC, this really means they're investing into PC as a platform. They will maybe make a launcher of their own, which people will complain, but doesn't really bother me, I'm all for it.
*an overlay. This
*about, but that wouldn't really
*me. I'm
So with this in mind. What are the chances of being able to download and play your PSN titles you already own onto the steamdeck in the future?
They would individually need to he ported to PC, be Proton-compatible, and Sony would have to allow you to do that without repurchase. So in my estimation close to 0%
This would only be possible through some sort of streaming service. Unless they ported every game...
So if you’ve Platinum the game already, you’ve already completed it on Steam too? That’s pretty sweet!
Your achievements probably don't automatically sync though. You would have to get them on steam as well.
@@Dracossaint This video says otherwise. They are supposed to be synced when logging into your PS account in-game.
Portal 2 on the PS3 did that too.
@Dracossaint They'll probably unlock all at once. Achievement spam
I linked my Warframe from console to PC and sat there watching achievement after achievement flood the bottom right of my screen that dragged on for minutes. I had a LOT of achievements, apparently

Such a bummer for portal owners. A fun idea that wasn't treated as well as it should have been.
Not really. I have both and the quality and resolution of the Portal screen is way better than the deck.
@nickydee719 right, I should have been specific in my complaint. Playstation should have developed a system connection directly from console to device. I played Anton Blast on the Switch with the demo - it feels like the new Wario land that has been lacking on switch.
I wonder if they'll end up making their own launcher, and try to copy it steams features like a big picture mode and their cloud saves and renote play?
It's something to think about that's for sure
Idk what platform you play on, but nearly every pc user hates non steam game launchers (including epic games). Me specifically hate not being able to either buy my game on steam or if i can when i go to play it i have to install another third party service. Having two launchers open to play one game. Its clunky and jank, i hope to god sony doesent go down this road. I love the way theyve been handling pc ports.
@@just_HAZEN I use steam primarily, and sometimes heroic. If a PS game is on steam it should only use the steam launcher, but options to use a different platforms are welcome in my opinion. That way if sales go around there will be more competition. If Sony is going to try to run their own PC platform they need to actually put in the effort, unlike all the others. pretty much all PC launchers other than steam lack in features and are very poorly made . If sony actually puts in a solid effort to compete with Steam's platform id consider using both if the experience is relatively the same
@@DreamerSouls true true. Ill never have a problem with more competition, but this shoe horning launchers into games on an other platform is getting out of hand. Personally i dont think sony needs their own launcher or store to keep things going. But i dont know the ecenomics of it all, and i aint got no skin in the game. But yeah as long games purchased on steam stay being played through steam, i give sony all the blessings
Which better handheld windows ROG Ally or Legion Go?
I have neither but the ROG community and longterm support is definitely superior at this stage, which will make issues go away faster if you run into them
Legion Go, I'm my humble opinion, maybe after they repair the Sd card "issue" on the Rog Ally, I'll change my opinion..
For indie games it doesn’t matter that much, but for AAA games the bigger screen on Legion Go makes a HUGE difference
@@chrisrobinson3494that’ll need redesign. Hopefully they fixed it in ally 2 coming later this year. Won’t help anyone who owns current one though
ROG Ally if you want a smaller device and are ok with slightly less battery. Legion Go if you want a bigger device and can value things like the trackpad and detachable controllers. Performance-wise the Legion Go has faster RAM but rocks the same Processor so basically the same performance.
The Ally also has better software but honestly I only ever use the software to change TDP and whatnot, I'm using Steam or other shit for launching games and whatnot. Personally I prefer the Legion Go but I kind of wish I had just gotten a Steam Deck since the power is kind of lost on me with how good Steam's game streaming service is.
Ghost of Tsushima
I never had doubt that this game will be playable on the Deck. Just because it is also playable on PS4 already and we even got PS5 exclusive games ported to PC playable on the Deck. Unless the port is borked or an anti cheat is involved, there is no reason to believe GoT wouldn't be playable. Especially with the excellent track record of the studio porting the game. I'm not surprised, but happy. :-) Finally I can play the game!

~40 fps is possible with pretty much everything on low. But i run at 30fps with a few settings at medium
Court settlements are not binding on people who weren't a party to the settlement. Not to say there couldn't be other issues but saying that there was a court settlement to the contrary as a reason for not including them is just ignorant.
No but the judge ordered an injunction and that _could_ be a legal shortcut for Nintendo to easily pursue litigation against people distributing Yuzu or whatever lawyers can prove is close enough to Yuzu
@@FanTheDeck an injunction is only binding on the parties to the suit. Further the case was settled so any ultimate decision in the case doesn't provide precedent in future litigation.

I'm not interested about this game, but it's big step in right direction. Thanks Sony
Where. Is. Bloodborne.
If this in fact brings PC closer to Day and Date releases on PC with PS5, then you should expect the worst. Only way that will happen is if Sony creates their own Windows Launcher (which after dealing with EA's Trash on my deck and PC, not a fan, though I'm sure Sony could do a better job and I'd follow them off of Steam). This could result in the rise of a PlayStation OS to compete with not just Deck, but to bring the PlayStation experience to the PC space. Which means they'll beat microsoft to the punch. Which could also mean a new PlayStation Portable is in the works.
Like it or not the open architecture of the PC has been a thorn in the side of every major corporation for the last 25 years. This sort of forking would result in Sony solving a very old problem. You want to build your own gaming console using PC parts, have at it. You just won't get the experience you get on PlayStation, but you'll have a better one if you join our eco system. You'll still have the option to wait a year and play on Windows. I'd expect them to protract that date out as people start dual booting their systems.
I'm up for this idea of a PlayStation OS. I have a machine in the other room running HoloISO playing games not in my preferred user space. If I can build a beefier machine I could leave the console space entirely so I can have that PS Pro without having to invest in a generation locked piece of hardware. It would certainly save me a hell of a lot of money, that I could put into even more beefier hardware. Splurge to get that 4090 instead of a 4080, that sort of thing.
I'll never bet on Day to Date releases for AAA titles from sony.
CROSS-BUY
This can become a reality even for steam, if the two services play nice with each other like they have in the past, we could see this expand in ways even Microsoft never considered with their GamePass programs. PS eco system gamers being able to try PS+ titles on PC. PS eco system players bringing their digital titles over to steam without having to rebuy them, maybe you really want to play a true 1080p version of Metal Gear Rising.... this could be your chance without buying the game again and carrying your save over. Just as an example we all know this won't be retroactive. Especially with PS3 titles. Valve has in the past played nice with Sony. Portal 2 was the last time we saw such friendly interaction. I think Sony will use this factor to push players on PlayStation away from physical, but I will not be surprised if sony takes things further and allows some kind of disc usage.
Say what you will about sony they have a lot of features steam does not. Even Quality of Life features like sorting your achievements or the Trophy levels, things completely absent from steam.
The big win I'm hoping for is the death of paid online, the introduction of the PS Voice Chat client on PC, and wider adoption of Dual Sense features on all platforms.
It synching your trophies from ps5 actually annoys me. I wanted a separate trophy list.
community do when ninten-don't

Richest company in Japan. Not happening anytime soon. TwT
They fell off after the Switch was released.
Hadest 2 should run 90 fps with no drops hades 1 runs at 120 fps with no drops on my Rog ally and 60 with no drops on my steamdecks. I can't see hades 2 being any more demanding.
PS Portal was always a bad product. It still blows my mind that they released that thing.
No one is talking about cross pegoression....why link a psn account if there isnt cross progression how are you not addressing that
Of course Sony are going to do a PlayStation store on PC so they can cut Valve and anyone else out of a percentage.
They won't make a PS launcher. games that are not on steam do not sell well. Epic games store apparently hasn't made a dime as of yet which is weird but understandable. Playstation if they do a launcher they will still sell on steam and or Epic games store.
Must sell enough if nearly every big publisher still keeps theirs around. Likely doesn’t cost much so if just 10% of sales goes to their own store it’s worth it. Lots people buy games from windows store for example. It’s irritating since they don’t get mods or sometimes aren’t compatible. I’ve got two ark copies cause windows store ark is console version ported over and wouldn’t work with steam one
@@sly2792004well, there’s also the fact epic rakes in money from all their deals and even fortnite alone.
Sony better not be trying to have there own store client on PC, as long as you will be able to own it through Steam. People are not going to stand for having to download all of these clients to play their games, other companies with there own app have already tried this, it did not work out, frankly very poorly. I am surprised Blizzard still has there app for there games still, they need to migrate all games over to Steam at this point. If Sony wants to have there own Store on PC, fine, but it must come with the ability to also own it on Steam.
I won't support PS5 PC launcher... To much downsides
Playstation needs mods like pc has
I hope Sony does this for FFVII Rebirth
they will, on epic...
@@TicoDK They released Intergrade on both Epic and Steam, I don't see why they wouldn't do that again for Rebirth.
If Sony creates their own platform to sell their games, I'm not going to buy them. For now I will continue to enjoy my games on Steam and pray that day never comes.
6:40 Shin Megami Tensei V poisoned Denuvo, for this reason, I definitely won't buy it
i just hope they dont mess up the steaminput api. just like they did on horzon forbidden west. if you know anything about steaminput api then you know they way they used it on horzon forbidden west is really bad. every action is made as a new layer. Theire is no mouse like camera option. So you can not get good gyro with this port. only the bad gyro implementation they used in this game. I can not use such a bad gyro option, because i am used to real mouse gyro.
The amount of ego it takes to not port a game to a specific platform.. Oh well. We'll always have emulation..
I want to earn my achievements seperate from my PS5. I'm that kinda weirdo 😅
why do people even use discord. The UI sucks and anything they dont like they ban
They have to try to keep up with Xbox.
a little too late... asus has been sitting on their high horse for too long and got complacent with their goodwill from the community for their excellent support and customer service... its just been the last few hicups with their GPUs and MOBOs recently where they did this crap... then when it hit the ROG ally... yea it was not a good thing... and only now did they finally admit the fuck up and are actually owning up to it...
if this was the ASUS from 5-10 years ago, this would have been dealt with immediately within the same week it happened... in fact they used to deal with it within a few days... and they would be sweetening the deal with something for the affected customers... while telling them they will look into a solution to the issue and ask for the understanding that their product could be swapped with a product that was quickly hot fixed....
I wont buy anything that isn’t on Steam. I don’t want multiple libraries / platforms. I don’t even use the xbox app anymore. I rebought games just to have them in my Steam library. Hopefully after the Helldivers fiasco, Sony realizes that PC gamers don’t want to be forced into anything.
I own Steam deck and love it when the games actually work. I also own a PS5 and I will always choose my PS5 over the S-deck so many great games but some either don't work or preform well on the S-deck. You either have tweak the settings or do more I'm no pc expert so sh!t outta luck for some games I purchase like dragon's dogma 2.
Sony are too casual, relaxed and slow about bringing their games to PC, after adding God Of War to my Steam library It has sat there redundant for a number of years, it's clear the PlayStation platform takes precedence. I'm not excited about the PC release of Ghost of Tsushima, by the time Sony steps up to deliver content to their PC audience my excitement dies.
Every time people mention the PS Portal all I can ask is "why?"
It seems like such a redundant and useless device, unless you're Amish and have no phone or other devices. But if you're Amish, you also wouldn't have a PS5 or Portal, so again I ask "Why?"
Ps is just losing so much money not putting all their games on steams or not making it’s own launcher for pc
Please bring MLB the Show to PC
It seems incredibly dumb of Sony to do day and date releases on PC and PS5. Speaking strictly financially, i can't make sense of it.
Some basic math. Selling 8 million $70 games on PC and PS5 respectively.
- PS5 = $560 million
- PC = $392 million (30% platform charge)
It would be equivalent to sony selling 5.6 million ps5 games. Or 13.6 million total.
I'm not saying it wouldn't happen but it is pretty dumb in terms of maintaining their image. Right now the general consumer isn't aware that some ps5 games also launch on pc. That will change over time.
Seems like it'll essentially kill any reason to own a future ps6. Not to mention liquidating their platform.
But even if its a dumb decision, might be something they choose to do
The reason rockstar aren't launching gta 6 on pc day and date is because they know a lot of people "double dip" you get more sales by making some effort
Ghosts of Sushi?
Vanillaware specifically didn’t want to do a PC release?? I understand development time in conversions… but do you not like money? PC gaming has never been more viable.
Sony has said they will make a PC launcher. The overlay is in fact the first step. I wanted this release but now I have to skip it. Origin, uPlay, and EGS are trash and will always be trash. GOG is the only alternate store that isn't a shit show.
Playstation game from 2005?
just turn on your modded ps2... lol
God I hated trophies, Sony bringing the worst of PlayStation to PC
Why do you hate trophy’s? Steam have achievements list for games that’s the same as trophies and so does Xbox? What’s there not to like? It’s optional not required
