Everything here feels exactly as i do. Everything here verbalizes my relationship with writing. Everytime my emotions went to hell, the story would go to hell. Of course the fanfic I wrote for is basically one of those girl collecting gachas, so people didnt like it for some reason i was fascinated with worse than death scenarios so yeah..., but i didnt care. Writing was always the way i got emotions out

best video i have ever watched. Not joking. You summarised my last 5 years in a 15 minute video, with the slight difference that my passion is programming. You have earned yourself a sub and eternal gratitude. will show this video to every single person I fucking know

I listened to this while freehand painting some thorn vines on my war dog. I get what you mean about creative out bursts. Sometimes I've got a clear image of a model I want to kit bash, or a paint job I want to do. It feels great to make them real. Sometimes I don't know what I want to do with a model, it goes unpainted for months, and it kinda sucks.
I also know what you mean by doing stuff even if its for your eyes only. I have lots of game design docs that are 100% pipe dreams. There are easily over 60 - 80 pages of games of varying depths, details and completions. It's fun to work on them even if I know it will never really go anywhere.

As a chronic creative I vibe a ton with the premise of this video. I’m a chronic creative (I draw, write, dabble in music, have done some jewelry making, and sew) but for me the true _ creative and expressive _ medium for me is poetry. I draw write etc for fun but if I want to pour my emotions out and stop bottling them up I go and write a handful of stanzas for my eyes alone.
    However
Something I’ve come to understand and learn over time is how much creatives take being creative for granted. Some people simply don’t have the urge to put ink on paper or paint to canvas, and I think that is a group that probably would struggle attuning to a given creative outlet. Obviously most of those people wouldn’t approach an emotional crisis in the same way but it’s an interesting thing to think about, especially if we want to question if what I’d call “noncreatives” (for the purposes of this comment) even experience the same type of crisises that “creatives” do.
I don’t think this diminishes the point of this video, if the internet shows anything it’s that the world is filled with people that have that same creative urge as I and others do, but it is an interesting question to ponder: how much do creatives take being creative for granted?
That’s the end of this thought train, have a good (insert your current time of day here) person who has read this comment by a stranger on the internet.

loved the video man, i absolutely agree with everything you said here.
I myself also love writing (although im far less experienced) and i had a personal writing project i put on hold a couple months ago because i just couldn't get any ideas. my brain was completely blank on how i could move the story forward. I haven't touched it since then. life getting a lot more busy and hectic isnt helping that either but watching this video really made me start thinking about it again and for that im really thankful. not sure if i follow trough and continue my story but im thinking about it again so its a start!

David Drake did the same sort of thing. There's a very clear point in his books when he finally wrote himself sane.

Well I am an artist and totally get the importance of a creative outlet however the whole AI crap recently completely killed all the motivation I had.
Was drawing and painting everyday for 5 years straight, but this year I just dropped it. It no longer feel worth the effort, it just bring me negative feelings

AI completely mastered chess decades ago, but that didn't put an end to humans playing chess, Magnus Carlsen is still out there rocking it. Sure the AI may be technically better than you but it can't replace the value of human art

I absolutely get it, but I'd give it another try if I were you. There's a human element to art of all kinds that I have yet to see AI be able to capture. Not just stuff like drawing hands, but other things like context, environmental and visual storytelling, subtext, and of course: emotion. Though some of the AI art may be aesthetically pleasing and technically impressive, it often lacks the meaning that makes art fun.
What I can tell you for sure is for any commission for anything related to my channel or my book, I'll go look for a real artist. And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who thinks that way.
