23:18 “I thought just my citizens were supposed to be cold” While it’s a hilarious statement, he’s made it a point to keep everyone comfortably warm(i.e. above 0 degrees celcius) for the past couple weeks
I spent this whole episode dreading Tyler naively thinking that bunkhouses with no insulation upgrades would be able to keep his people warm enough once the storm hits. As the last 20 seconds hint, he's in for a very chilly week...
@@rex-1141 I remember the first time I played. I'd pretty much maxed out the parts of the tech tree I used, including houses. Once I saw the start of the storm I thought "wait, that was it?" Then it went to "wow, it's getting close, but I can hold" to having to do emergency research on heaters because I never used them before (steam hubs were better for AoE). Then, I saw the three level drop and was like "is this storm supposed to kill you, and did I make it to the end?" It gets real bad real quick, even for people who thought the game was relatively casual before. It essentially pushes against the limits of the tech.
If I'm right there is a game mode that keeps ongoing and just throws storm after storm at you (that part is mentioned in the game so I'm not spoiling anything)
Just saying that since Frostpunk 2 was announced the game was free on epic games and had a lot of discounts on steam so you can wait to save some money :v
Is no one going talk about how close he was to a Healthcare Death Spiral? 80 Sick, 90 Sick, 100 Sick and then 15 more more sick coming from the Scouting Team, and then theres 30 more just naturally going sick again- Like it was SO close was it not? But then his Research speed was adequate enough to make everything comfortable in time and then everyone queued in a line to spend some time in the medical post, amazing Peril Management right there lol
Captain Aliensrock, no matter how cold the storm grows, no matter how low the thermometer sinks, no matter how grueling and treacherous the path ahead may be, you mustn’t give up. You’ve prepared well, now you must best this last challenge. *The City Must Survive*
God... This is all his first playthrough... Everything feels so immersive! I feel like Tyler is ACTUALLY managing a city in a perilous environment, and I can just hear how much of a legend the city will be in, say, 200 years after the events, assuming the city survives! It's incredible!

@Andrei Salvaleon I spent this whole episode dreading Tyler naively thinking that bunkhouses with no insulation upgrades would be able to keep his people warm enough once the storm hits. As the last 20 seconds hint, he's in for a very chilly week...
Judging by the fact that we *needed* 3400 food rations I guess the storm will last just enough for all those rations to be out (and maybe a bit longer) but not a whole lot. So keeping an eye on the food can be a way to assume how much longer you've got
@@sandgun3269 because the rescues in the three places were also explicitly requested I feel like that should've been included in the calculations already.

I think he will lose to the storm. I remember when i did this i had maxed houses (+2 heating compared to bunkhouses) with maxed generator power with overdrive and a lot of individual heaters on the last stage of the storm and nothing was confortable, it was going downhill really fast. With -2 heating on homes the frostbite will be deadly
Love this series so much! Don't know if this game has an ending, (assuming it does), but if you die early do you plan on doing a second series, perhaps maybe just starting off from the same point in the in-game timeline?
Quick note for coal thumpers. The 3 coal piles you see at them that's uncollected coal. You will need to send workers to collect it and i will say gather posts close by within radius. Place 2-4 of them to gather it fast.
Well, I did my second attempt. I had a feeling the cold would keep getting worse, and I think I was more prepared (houses with the extra insulation keeping everyone nice and warm), but I had only five medical stations with no overcrowding. The people were falling ill faster than I could cure them, and then they started dying. I lost over a hundred people in those last few days... but the rest made it. Hey, thanks for showing me this game. Really enjoyed this series, and would love it if this series went into some of the other scenarios. Tried the refugee one a few times, but it goes south fast.
Everything was so nice and puzzle-solvey vibe time with Tyler but then the last 30 seconds of the video hit and the only thoughts in my head were: "Yup, it's GGs". I can't wait to see how you'll approach this problem, very interesting series!
