Yes that was Kathy. She found a Greta Gruesome doll that looked the way she was dressed and that was the field goal you saw. Layne has been known as the Carrot Lord for many a year and torturing J None with those same carrots. He did get the VioLayne moniker too but his first violin part was in Warriors, then Nothing Else Matters, and The Lion Sleeps Tonight. Loved it.
Layne is a walking one-man band in every sense of the word. Greta took one for the team, got it. There must be a story behind J None and the fear of carrots.
Not only was Kathy the ‘floor zombie’ but it was her idea for Layne to kick ‘her’ away. They bought a doll from the nearby ‘Spirit of Halloween’ store to act as flying zombie prop but it didn’t match well enough so into the makeup chair it went. And then we don’t even see the doll’s face to appreciate all that work!
What a great reaction. I'm so pleased you spotted the carrot. When this dropped on Patreon it was 2am in London it was just getting genuinely scary when I saw the carrot. I laughed so loud I thought next door might worry!! This is so good.
I was never a big MJ fan & I don't like horror but VoicePlay managed to make this one both spooky & hysterically funny so I love it. I'm embarrassed to say the first couple of times I watched it I totally missed Layne kicking Kathy across the room. I saw her creep up & bite him but somehow missed the kick.😲 I loved the carrot sticking through Layne's head; he fits that carrot in any time he possibly can, especially if J. None is around! Patreon members & fans have been begging them to do this one for ages and I'm pretty sure I remember Geoff saying that they wouldn't do it without J. None so the timing had to be right. I'm so glad they finally got it done and of course blew it out of the park. I so agree with you about Geoff and Vincent Price. I've said that to my hubby many times. The sad thing is how many people watching this won't have any idea who Vincent Price was. He passed in 1993 at the age of 82. He was such a master at the "horror voice" as I call it. Fantastic reaction, thank you so much!
Thanks for the comments, appreciated as always Jamie_T! I want to sit down with the group and find the whole story around the carrot. Others in the comment said the same thing about J None. What happened must have been traumatizing!
Thank you so much for the complement! I had a client once ask me to laugh a second time so they could capture it as a ring tone. Still not sure how to respond to a request like that LOL.
Thank you so much for this great reaction! I always enjoy your VoicePlay reactions. Your responses and laughter to so much of what was going on made it even more fun to watch!
yep, you got it right! Kathy was the ground demon, "Greta" was the flying one that Layne booted across the room. Kathy also worked for Universal/Disney - and they worked together there in at least one of the attractions. If I recall my lore correctly, Kathy is the daughter of Geoff (and Layne's) high school music teacher.
I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction. I had to stop watching for a few minutes to get my laughter under control so I could pay attention. This was never one of my favorite songs. I liked the video but I am the wrong generation to been a huge MJ pop fan. I appreciate his talent, it’s just not something I listened to very much. (However, their cover of The Way You Make Me Feel is my current favorite which really surprised me. Part of it is the tempo change, I really like the jazzy sexy sound of it.) Kathy was not only production manager but also the “floor zombie”. The “stunt zombie” was played by Gruesome Greta from the Halloween store. Rick Underwood, the make up artist, airbrushed her so she more closely resembled Kathy. (It’s not like she had a close-up, but they are the masters of a small details. 🤣) The idea to have Layne kick her away was her idea. I think if J was not the featured artist for this, Layne may not have come up with the crazy carrot idea. He loves to torment J and the carrot is his favorite weapon. He is the Carrot Lord after all. I love the part where J is trying to get out through the door, similar to the original Michael Jackson video (which I did go back and look at because it had been such a long time since I’ve seen it). I love how his voice is so tremulous like he’s really scared of the guys . Geoff’s narration was top notch. It really had to be him to do that part. He does narrations as well and has quite a few stories on his solo channel. Most of them are too scary for me but I do know he has some Poe, the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and one called The Masque of the Red Death which just sounds way too scary just from the title. 🧟😳🎃🥕🤧👻😱🧟♂️
I have seen some of the ones you stated by Geoff. VoicePlay is such an amazing group. They are so creative and love what they are doing. Granted if I ever see them, I am going to duck to avoid flying zombies, but well worth the risk!
Being a patron I get to see the BTS video and yes they had way to much fun. Lots of shinanagins. Props to Rick Underwood for the amazing makeup and prosthetics. Kathy as the crawling zombie was her idea. Geoff doing the Vincent Price narrative and the laugh is perfect.
I can totally imagine! When I worked at Universal Studios, just before Geoff, the things we did, and the laughter was amazing. What a great place to work.
This is quickly becoming my favorite video to see people react to - there are so many interesting moment visually and audibly, and that leads to SO MANY facial expressions! I loved it, and your laughter was contagious!
Ever since I heard Geoff’s laugh in “Enemy” I thought he sounded like Vincent Price in the OG version. He absolutely killed it here. Also, the Glee version is so ingrained in my head that I kept trying to mash this up with “Heads Will Roll.”
You: "I feel like I'm in a Memorex commercial!" Me: "I UNDERSTOOD THAT REFERENCE!!" I loved how much you enjoyed this, I've seen it many times now but I was laughing again right along with you! I almost thought you were going to miss Layne's carrot, I'm glad you caught it at the end. 🤣
LOL, I saw it when it first appeared but doubted myself and am like, "Oh, they are just diodes... I just saw that wrong". Nope! Yeah, keep watching my channel, I am a fountain of odd references. It's in there! Just like Ragu spaghetti sauce!
Thanks! Being a live reaction video, I can't hide it. I laugh from the heart. Loud and at times obnoxious but then again, there needs to be more laughter in this world. :)
Yes. That was Kathy on the floor. And they got a doll at the Halloween store that looks close to her. Then Rick Underwood, their makeup artist made the doll look like Kathy. The dolls name is Greta the Gruesome. It was also Rick's idea to do the "Zombie Infection". Geoff loved it so changed his arrangement to that. Geoff has 12 narrations on his channel. All amazing. All except a couple are horror. Mostly Edgar Allen Poe. Geoff has the perfect voice for it. He posted a short last night of just the narration part from this.
@@ESClone27 Forgot to mention... It was Rick's idea to do the zombie infection. He told his idea to Geoff. Geoff loved it so he rearranged the video to that idea. Kudos to Rick.
I totally get it, I respect the talent that came from MJ but did not truly fall into the sound I appreciate when I listen to music. VoicePlay improved upon it, and made it more amazing and awesome!
I like that they're all wearing red and black as a homage to the original constuming by Michael Jackson, but none of them copied it. I really enjoyed this, and yes, that is Kathy as the first zombie!
Thank you for watching! I am glad you appreciated the reaction. Be sure to keep an eye out for more! I love music, grew up around music. Can't get enough.

But the labor of love was there, just in case. They are true professionals when it comes to the craft. I am totally down for it.

Thank you for watching! I am so sad I missed working with Geoff at Universal Studios, by just a few months.
Absolutely killed it! What respect to the one and only Michael and yet it was pure VP gold. Will be played repeatedly for years. STANDING O!!!
IKR?! As you have seen from my reactions I listen for the sound, and the sound on this was absolutely amazing.

They were Frankenstein and bride of Frankenstein
That is absolutely hysterical! Kathy was in his Monster Mash video as well! What an awesome couple!
@@ESClone27 she’s in Golden hour as well

I used the word glee as in the actual meaning totally forgetting they covered it as well. So right!

The tempo is exactly the same as the original, just compared them and tapped the tempo 60 bpm. Best wishes from Finland🇫🇮
Greetings Finland! You are indeed right. Thanks for keeping me honest!
Enjoyed your reaction. Especially the giggles 😁

An ambitious project and they totalled pulled it off! 🌹🕊
They have arrived at a whole new level lately. Forget MTV, hello Pattycake / VoicePlay TV... with more exciting content!

Rick needs a raise of 63 cents! Brilliant! The infection through the video made the story more compelling. What a fun watch.

@@jackyfriedman1963 Sometimes it is well worth just pursuing something so funny, creative, and/or amazing. This just happened to be all of the above!
I am very old, so not an MJ fan for the most part. But this song was always great, and Voiceplay just took it over the top for me.
I totally get it, I respect the talent that came from MJ but did not truly fall into the sound I appreciate when I listen to music. VoicePlay improved upon it, and made it more amazing and awesome!
I've been watching for this one! Thanks for the great reaction. VoicePlay is so entertaining and talented, always
They are an amazing, and way under rated group in my opinion. They are top tier in all they do.
I like that they're all wearing red and black as a homage to the original constuming by Michael Jackson, but none of them copied it. I really enjoyed this, and yes, that is Kathy as the first zombie!
I noticed, they all fell in the realm of the 80-ish dress, but not exactly the same. That was Weird Al's job! LOL.

Thank you for all the love! Thank you for watching!
Ah, a fun reaction! This is VP's best, I think. Words don't do it justice.💙
True, needed to consume a thesaurus to try and come up with enough words for this video. Thanks for watching!
