I always love it when Michael and K.I.T.T. bring the cops while closing in on the bad guys. It shows the law always come out on top, while evil falls flat on its face.
Back then and into the 90's people made the KITT light out of discreet circuitry, 35+ years later the same light setup is still a popular project to make with Arduino's and such.. It's pretty amazing how something so old can still have some mild relevance in certain circles.
The clicking noise comes from the relays which they used to make effect of speeding. Original scanner also had relays to control, and they clicking too :) (They were hidden under the hood of the car, therefore you couldn't hear them)

4:27 ironically, a large black car threatening to push a car sideways off a cliff was something that happened in the 70s movie 'The Car', and footage from that same movie was used for when KARR plunged off the cliff in Trust Doesn't Rust.
This episode "Custom Made Killer" is one of my favourite Knight Rider episodes. And I'm not really sure why as it seems a normal average everyday episode where nothing majorly essential happens. Like it's not an episode that sees KITT damaged or gets a new upgrade. Or sees the debut of a new cast member. Or an episode with either Stephanie Mason, KARR or Garthe Knight & Goliath. Yet this is an episode I choose if I just wanna chill out and put on a Knight Rider episode.
Mine are this episode, Knight Moves, Chariots of Gold, and Many Happy Returns because in those episodes, when Michael and K.I.T.T. closed in on the bad guys, they brought the cops with them.
That two car skidding stop at 4:06 is impressive. In a car chase show stuffed with stunts every week we got used to it back then but those drivers were good
Awwww, the eighties... when evil muscle car drivers didn't have guns in their glove compartment, and private contractors, like Michael, could order regular cops to arrest people. And cars with the best AI built in used cassette tapes.
@@marky456x Weeell... we had a lot of stunt drivers doing KITT's driving too. But I was referring rather to the plot than the actual trickery used to film the show.
Michael was an official representative for The Foundation For Law and Government. Michael: Oh! Wise guy, huh? KITT, you wanna do the honors?
KITT almost pushed him down the cliff to his certain death. I know they were just trying to scare him but it seemed out of character to for KITT to put someone's life in jeopardy like that. Also, cassette tape! I love it.
Perhaps with his super powerful (1980s) computers he calculated precisely the right amount of force to apply safely without pushing the car over the edge :) Agreed the cassette was funny, although at the time we wouldn't have thought anything of it! :)
Did anyone notice at 2:33 mark that it was small scale car when he raising push bar so yeah i know it's the 80s but we as fans back then did not pick up all of details like this when the show was on air but anyway great job KRO can't wait for the next one see you later bye now.
I think the MacGyver episode you're talking about is the one where Mac meets Penny Parker for the first time. The driver of the lime green Plymouth, Kai Wulf, was also in that episode.
Wow! Always wanted to see this episode again! I knew there was a Fury/Monaco in it which i also liked very much as a kid! After 30+ years i'm going to see it again!
Has the scene with KITT and the green car here been edited?? I distinctly remember when Michael presses KITT’s accelerator a couple of times in the scene there was the Turbo Boost sound.?!!! What happen to that??!
You're absolutely correct. The episode on the original DVD's do not contain the sound effect. However, when aired on Starz Encore the sound effect is present. I'm not sure if the sound effect was present during the original run. Good catch.
I can't say anything about KITT, KITT, more than 30 years ago, had predicted what is going on today, like GPS, bluetooth, smart watch, auto drive, and design of car never fades away..wonderful 🤔
"KITT, will you do the honors.." "If you mean push this man in his car down the cliff to a fiery death at the bottom of a canyon in Encino, sure, I'm all for it Michael."
Except for the tech, this is MOPAR. It has a better drive train and is on a sturdier platform. It is similar to compairing a Chevelle to a C-2 'Vette. The 'Vette may look better, but the Chevelle is a better car.
Why is some of the audio missing? The turbo boost sound was used after Michael let up off the brakes, again when he started going towards the custom killer, then again with the last push against the custom killer's bumper... :(
I wondered why at the end, they frog-marched the bad guys out of a shopping mall, so I looked up the episode synopsis. The plot is about a guy eliminating competition from a garment trading business. Wait until Walmart rolls into town.
Michael knights found a record the audio tape, but then, the man and the woman had a arrested to the custody, they send it back in jail. There is will we no bond.

'82 Trans Am... timeless design. Such elegance and simplicity.
I wish it was manufactured again.
There's something about that sleekness which cars these days don't have.
There’s 5 cars I want... Christine, Kitt, General Lee, Herbie, then the Delorean...
Not sure about Christine, but the other four I agree with.
Christine, KITT, General Lee, Back to the furniture, Bandit, and Herbie
Mac 5
Without the mach 5 the list is incomplete
I take KITT trans am, KITT mustang, General Lee, Starsky & Hutch torino, 1977 Trans Am Bandit.
Back then and into the 90's people made the KITT light out of discreet circuitry, 35+ years later the same light setup is still a popular project to make with Arduino's and such.. It's pretty amazing how something so old can still have some mild relevance in certain circles.
I did it with the user port of my Commodore 128 and machine code routine.
I always like when they show Kitts MPH, love that ticking sound it makes. Which my car had that sound when the speed moves
Sound was always added in post production. The car did not actually make any of those sounds that you hear on TV.
A ticking dashboard everytime you changed speed would drive you crazy 😂
The clicking noise comes from the relays which they used to make effect of speeding. Original scanner also had relays to control, and they clicking too :) (They were hidden under the hood of the car, therefore you couldn't hear them)
