Bought a silver NX4 DSD about a month ago, and absolutely love it with the HE-4XX. No idea how Topping made this adorable little thing so muscular with premium feel for the price, but it's a joy to take on the move. Very good stock accessory kit, too.
Now when I have the NX4 together with my 6xx, I must say I love it. THe bass boost on the other hand isnt something that I use that much. I really think the combo of 6xx and having the Nx4 use its dac, makes it basey enough. When I turn on the bass boost it becomes to much I think, and it feels like the bass is taking over to much, skimming away some of the nice details. Edit. I have now come to love the "basiness" of the switch on. I tested the nx4 together with a pair of 990 pros and a pair of MDR z7, imho, together with my 6xx it sounds damn amazing. Super powerful, super clear, super full bodied sound. I didnt get the same result with the other pair of headphones.
HELP. I'm an ebayer that purchased one of these from a thrift store. Came complete with all the original items in the box. I can't get it to work. It charges (the light by the charger turns from red to green) and the blue power light is on in the front. But when I take the charger out, the blue power light won't come on in the front. Is the battery dead or something else. I really don't know anything about electronics. Thanks for any help
I was in a conundrum between the NX4 and Fiio Q1mkII. Love the size and format, the practicality and connections of both. I have easy-to-drive headphones and IEM's that I use with my phone most of the time, so the extra power of the NX4 didn't mean much to me. Then I found the Sonata iDSD Plus, the TempoTec version of the Hidizs DH1000 for less then it's half price (Sonata $99 vs Hidizs $229) - there was no doubt and I bought the thingy. Good power, small size and, if needed, the balanced output. Don't have the knob, line in/out and bass boost but those features make no difference to me for now. Couldn't be more satisfied with the purchase.

Thanks for this Mr Z. I had an NX-2 for about a year until the power toggle switch literally fell u (!) - I binned it and bought a Q1 MkII. I was using the balanced output on the Q1-II with my FH1 iems (another of your recommendations) but I like to be able to plug the FH1 straight into the headphone jack on my laptop and my phone so I switched back and havent bothered with it since. Per your plan, I'm watching each new vid as you upload it - hopefully you'll know soon enough if your theory re YTs analytics are correct. I appreciate that this isnt a workload most content creators want to subscribe to - keep em coming, big guy !
Bought this Dac/Amp to use with AKG K712s, they sound great on high gain, the dac works great, this produc is a steal at 160$ (same price in amazon/aliexpress at the time of writing). It works great with Android and PC. I only regret the import costs, nearly 50$ (EU) for importing. At 240$ you can probably aqcuire something similar locally. It's small, works great, battery last for ages. This is a top product, worth the import charges? Not sure yet, I had it for a week.
NX4 DSD all the way! Ifi black label nano doesn't have enough power like NX4. NX4 has the better sabre chip. According to the measurement from most trusted reviewer, Amir, ifi black label was not recommended, but NX4 dsd was strongly recommended. I have NX4 DSD. I'm enjoying it. For ifi product, I only want to recommend strongly to buy ifi Micro IDSD black label if you can afford to buy it. No DAC cab beat this one so far.
im using the DSD NX4 with an iphone 11 and HD600. i find my self using the high gain more because it feels like its lacking without the gain turned on and the bass boost depends on the song. i have use it around the 12-1 o'clock position. and with on gain and Max i hear hissing on certain songs do i need balanced cables and a different cable thats not the camera cable for iphone
After getting a bad Little Bear amp based on your reviews I just got this one as its replacement. HOOOOLY SHIIIIIIIT was this the right choice. Eargasms and volumes just below ear bleeding with the HE4XXs I also got based on your review. For the money this has got to be about as good as it gets. Im amazed. Thank you Zeos. Im also loving my Overnight Sensations I got and built based on your review. The Little Bear had to be defective, its performance was pure garbage. Plus the battery life of this SOB is way more impressive
Love this DAC/AMP! Great review. I love pairing this with the Fostex TR-X00 with ZMF ori pads. Using that bass boost brings back the stock bass you lose from swapping pads. Sounds amazing!

@@noobtis mine gets warm after a good amount of use but not extremely hot. I would say it gets more on the hotter side when using it on my phone because it's in my pocket again not extremely hot though.

Lovely option, on IOS you can use the dongle dac with 3.5-3.5 adapter to like tripple the battery life, does not decrease the quality massively according to audiosciences measurements.

What could be a better/more noticeable, gradual upgrade EL DAC + NX4 or NX4 + EL Amp? How about the sound on the fostex ? Was it loud and rich or you loose something when compared to beefier amps ? Could consider you reviewing the OneOdio DJ headphones? Yes, the name is shit, and it makes the headphones themselves sound like shit, but they are loved by their owners and said to sound as good as the CB-1's. They are 45$ on Amazon and 30$ on Aliexpress. Thanks.
I actually own a pair of those, theyre definitely not bad for the price (around 30€/$35) but nothing too amazing either. Dark, bassy, kind of grainy or distorted at times. Mids are quite recessed sounding. Comfort is excellent but build quality is pure shit.
@@gpeaes I had the dacport HD prior (which also killed my battery), its warmer than the dacportable. The dacportable is more neutral, but also has a bass boost and a treble boost as well.

I have to put them on High Gain full volume and they're only 80 ohm headphones I don't see where you're talking about tons of power I don't see it it's barely driving my 80 ohm headphones. Not to mention I think it's also a mediocre DAC inside of this I don't care for the sound either I'm going to try the fiio q1 Mark 2 but you said that has less power so maybe that's not a good idea. I had the fiio A3 which is just an amp and that was going just as loud as he nx4 if not louder but it doesn't have a DAC.
Not cool bro. I have the topping nx4 and it is nothing like you described. Amp section is absolutely not clean. I can do a blind test and get the result right 99 percent time between this(amp only) and another clean amp. When used combined with dac through usb it sound ok. Not great, just ok. I can still hear identify the sabre glare in vocals and also bass is not great( without bass boost). In my option all the integrated dac amp chip bluetooth receivers like btr3,btr5, have better cleaner sound than these.

I found a good combo with the FiiO Q1 mk ii and the HD 660s. Using a balanced cable and only 150 ohm its enough power. Anything else and I'd go nx4

I can still hear identify the sabre glare in vocals and also bass is not great( without bass boost).
In my option all the integrated dac amp chip bluetooth receivers like btr3,btr5, have better cleaner sound than these.
But in my place Q1 is more expensive than topping, glad being an asian😆😆
