The Heat losing the 2011 Finals created the horrible precedent of fans counting Finals appearances as a similar achievement to winning the Finals in order to justify the hype and to maintain their preconceived top 10 rankings.
I remember in the 90s when Shaq lost the Finals to Hakeem/Rockets and that Finals loss was used against Shaq when ranking him with other all-time greats. The Lakers losing the 2004 Finals was also used against Kobe.
But after Miami lost in 2011, the rules were rewritten to where players get as much credit for making the NBA Finals as winning one. There is zero penalty now for losing the Finals when we discuss legacies.

The problem with clowns like Broussard is that they act like the Miami Heat were the only good team the 2011 Mavs beat.

Kobe fan here. Lebron was definitely the best player at the time but that makes that "decision" more egregious because if the best player has 2 other perreniel allstars how does anyone else win? Not to mention a bunch of the support players took less. Miller, battier, ray allen for example. They were as talented a team that the salary cap could allow. You could have replace lebron with any top 7 player and they would have still been the most talented team in the league. Them winning didn't really prove anything

It was a failure. They needed to win AT LEAST three championships. The Heat lost in embarassing fashion in 2011 against the Mavericks & were spanked historically in 2014.
In 2011, Wade & LeBron mocked Dirk for being sick, Jason Terry called out & outplayed LeBron, and LeBron had an epic meltdown. In 2014 the Spurs just beat them down & made their entire team on both ends of the court look old (despite thr Spurs having the older stars). No one had an asnwer for Kawhi Leonard & LeBron had to be carried off court due to cramps.

The first year of the Heatles was the NBA analogy of the '04 Olympic team, they were too cocky and thought they could run thru anyone and didn't properly respect their opposition. 2012 and 13 was proper, but the way they got absolutely obliterated by the Spurs in 2014 was inexcusable.
