I have the 2021 Toyota Highlander Platinum build & recently we had a lot of snow in NYC. The plows dug me in & I needed to move forward & backward a little to be able to pull out of my spot. Well, the Pre Collision System would brake automatically & I didnt know how to turn it off. Had to shovel in front of the sensors. This a reason you would want to turn off the system temporarily. I will try to turn off later as per your instructions. Hope it works, & thanks for the video (:

That actually sounds like the ics or intelligent clearance sonar system. The precollission system does not engage until you exceed 7 mph. The ics system is meant to help avoid slow speed bumps into cars or other obstacles and can cause issues if you have the situation you described

Thanks we have just bought a RAV4 hybrid Limited (NZ, had to wait 6 months, but we are so happy) and you have given us the confidence to play as we have only had it 3 days. However, we seem to have turned off the voice caution when approaching a speed camera. This, we feel, is really useful on road trips when you don't know where the speed cameras are. It was working on the way into town, I turned it off and when I got back in and turned on again, the display said no messages. I have no idea what I have done. All I did was re- programme my 2nd driver seat settings. I swear I touched nought else. The manual at this stage is confusing. We'd like it back on if you can help.

Thank you for the response. That is not a function we have here but it would make sense to be in the following spot. On the center screen toggle to the right until you see the gear. This is where you can turn on or off the safety items like pre collision blind spot monitors, road sign the detection etc. Like I said that function. Is not one we have here but it makes sense that it would be there.

I would like to see it on the dashboard where it was on the 2018. Hubby traded in my 2018 for the new 2021 for Christmas! I’m in love with it. I was a little disappointed they took the compass away. Also the Sensor (buttons) that surrounds the bumpers are gone too) I do love the alert system on the back up cam, but the front sensors on the XLE were removed. It was kinda cool being alerted as to a close object near the front bumper.
It was so cool and practical seeing the NSEW directions & the street names when my GPS was disengaged and the front sensor too. I even called my dealership last week asking them why did Toyota remove them.
This is my third RAV4 and I just love how the Rav keeps upgrading each year! 😎🤩
Believe it or not we looked at the Lexus too but the RAV4 2021 got my heart- once again. Even better, I got the Luna Rock 🛻 such a rare and beautiful soft greenish- olive-gray color! 😁😎🥰🤩
      Thanks Steve.

Not sure why it's called 'Safety Sense' as it makes no sense to me, to take control from the driver.
I've tried to permanently turn off the dangerous 'steering assist' in my RAV4 but can't.
In my view, cars are actually becoming less safe due to these over complex systems.
In reality, most drivers won't have a clue how to navigate through all these functions.

On the test drive, the car drove like new... I didn't notice any major pay on roblems… When I got home,
I started navigating the settings on the dashboard... I came across a vehicle alert screen that read- A malfunction in the pre-collision system has been detected..

It uses the radar in the grill in combination with the camera in the windshield to make sure it is fail safe.
