When I heard that Leonard Nimoy had passed I immediately thought of this intro. I grew up listening to this as a child on visits to the Boston Museum of Science. No other IMAX experience has ever been quite as impressive as this one. Rest in peace Mr. Spock.
I’m a Bostonian and this sound is so nostalgia brings back so many memories! I’m not even in my twenties yet I’m still a teen but I haven’t been back here since 2018 I believe then Covid happened I’m hoping this year I’ll be able to go again with my younger siblings!
I realize this was posted 7 years ago but it brought me back to being a little kid being in awe of it and laughing my head off. I love being a Bostonian 😂
The best feeling in the world is when you hear other people speaking along with the intro. I know this by heart and I’m glad that somebody had the mind to record just this and put it on TH-cam for everyone to enjoy. Side note if you’re ever in Boston please visit the Museum of Science it’s a great place and it would mean a lot.

Oh man. This was so much funnier, more in depth, and exciting when I was a kid. I really liked when the two guys and Nimoy ran through all the equipment in the theater turning them on and off as they went down this huge list. That amazing voice, the build of it, all the undismissible qualities and features of that theater are now all getting stepped on by this cloying framing device. It's also really weird how they pointed out who Nimoy was, and if it all hinged on that. Ah too bad.
Aww, I was waiting for the big finally but they changed it! Used to be 2 guys shouting back and forth checking all the systems. Oh man... then they wanted to test EVERYTHING altogether. My god, every light flashed and your whole body rumbled. You almost had to block your ears! It was my favorite part! I can still hear that booming sound now. Guess they got rid of it, probably had too many complaints. So sad
@@2HHB There changing to digital and im not sure if there keeping the dome thing or not. But since there changing stuff they most likely won't be using this intro anymore.
2HHB The dome will still be there. They’re just upgrading the projector to Imax Laser. I’m hoping they still play this Intro when it opens again. Maybe just edit the narration but I pray they keep Nimoy in
in the original intro, there were two male voices in the introduction who interacted with Leonard's voice one of which had asked something to the effect of 'why him?' to which Leonard answered 'He grew up three blocks from here.' What ever happened to those two male voice overs? This was supposed to be an anniversary thing? They should have kept it TRULY original.

Play all the movies From 4:00 pm to 10:00 am Where they play all the movies overnight in between movies they have food and drinks Not allowed to bring it in the theater. I got tickets from me and 4 friends they don’t do that anymore. They used have fireworks from the parking lot for 4 th of July that stop 2

I also remember after the initial demo they had a short film about boston, driving around in the city, fenway park, celtics, harvard, etc... Ahhh those are great memories from going there as a kid.

yes, i remember this. though it may have played earlier, i first recall seeing the version of the intro you're describing around 1993, when the museum opened the Big Dig exhibit. it scared me as a kid.
This is not the classic Nimoy introduction. In that one, they ran through a full sound check and didn’t need to introduce Nimoy as if people wouldn’t recognize the name.
Okay....but hat about the mini movie they played before the actual one? Like...it showed you racing down the highway, and there was a car crash....or am I making that up?
I don't understand why they replaced the two guys talking back and froth to each other, with the female voice. It feels... forced... unlike the original content. I recall them saying something like, "Leonard Nimoy? what is he doing here?" and Leonard answered "He grew up three blocks from here." They also played the shuttle launch that was mentioned and... "one omni storm, coming up!" Hate that they changed it.
but..... isnt this bootlegging or copywriting bc it belonged, to the museum of science and I assume still does, that's WHY we have said (when I worked there), NO recording devices even during the intro.... unless, someone hire up said it was okay just during the intro, after that NO recording no still images nothing

I've been told that there original was lost in an accident of some kind.
They point out who Nimoy was because fewer people remember him now as compared to back in the 80s when the theater first opened.
Aw, man. In seventh grade we went to Boston and we went here and I remember when they did this.

This theater is being renovated and changed. I'll always remember this amazing intro and cinema experience.
