How To: DIY Voyager Pro Mount for KTMs

  • In this Gnarly Routes how to video, Cole Kirkpatrick covers the mount that he made for the Trail Tech Voyager Pro to relocate it behind the headlight. This mount applies to KTM bikes that come stock with a computer (EXC, EXC-F, and XC-W)
    Things to note:
You will have to relocate your headlight switch, the stock headlight mask has holes already in place on the right side to relocate the switch.

This is exactly what I was hoping to find. Great idea with the plexiglass. I will be duplicating this on my Husky!! Thanks for the video.

Awesome video, well done Will this work with the handlebars in the number four position farthest away from the rider.

I really appreciate you taking the time to put this video together. Why do you think Trail Tech did not design this mount? I think this is in an optimal position for me.
Also…perhaps I missed this in the video…but does this push on your front plate in such a way that it actually pushes the plate out? Do you have a side profile pic? Thanks again.

Can the Voyager do Birds Eye satellite view, or just animation?

Nice job Cole! Does that pigtail plug into the OE KTM wiring harness?

Looks good, but why not use like aluminium plate? seems like it would be stronger. I would worry about that Plexiglas cracking or breaking.

100 hours on this setup with no signs of cracking yet.

I know this is a year old, so not sure if if this question will be seen or not…
I’m trying to do this on an ‘18 SX-F 450. It’s an MX bike, so I don’t have the OEM triple clamp mount like the enduro one in the video.
Could you provide the part # of the original triple clamp gauge mount?
Or which bike you’re running (EXC)?

Hi Chris, this bike is running a KTM sxs clamp. As long as you have two threaded holes in the triple clamp on either side of where the number plate mounts you would be able to make this work. The tricky part is that the SX number plate lays right against the triple clamp and the headlight type plate gives a lot more room to mount the computer.

What are the dimensions of the plexi ? Or is it just "make it fit"?

Hi Cole, I was wondering if you could help me out. My trail tech voyager pro battery no longer works I was wondering if you can find out or even know what battery they have fitted.

Hi Nigel, the best bet would be to contact Trail Tech via email or a phone call.

@@gnarlyroutes mine is to, but I’m referring to the internal battery in them.

The internal battery for the Voyager Pro is NOT replaceable.
Even if you were to take the unit apart in order to get access to where the battery is, 1) the battery is glued (extremely) to the inside of back casing making it very, very hard to remove it 2) Trail Tech does NOT sell the replacement battery, 3) I could not locate a replacement battery through my fairly extensive online searching.
BTW, I also thought the battery in mine needed to be replaced as it wouldn't stay on after removing it from the charging mount anymore, like it used to.
There is an option that got reset back to defaults (I'm assuming during my last firmware update) that I was not aware of.
Trail Tech told me to check that setting, pretty sure it's the Charge Mode (Vehicle Profile > Wake Detection, Speed Source, Charge Mode) options of "Charge only with Engine Running" (which I think is the one she mentioned is the default), or "Charge Always".
Also, take note of these snippets from the User's Manual:
"Voyager Pro only charges when turned on to avoid drawing down the vehicle battery."
"15 minutes after going into sleep mode, Voyager Pro will shut down completely to avoid drawing down the vehicle battery."
I updated mine back to "Charge Always".
Note that mine is connected directly to the battery (there is no key switch), so I expect and want it to charge at all times whenever it's connected to the charging mount.
