"Arbi-tees" lmao. It's ar-bee-tes (like tesla), like an arbitrator. It's not a made up word either. Couldn't pay attention to what you were saying because you were making me laugh with the pronunciation and Australian accent. A++
So, I had a guardsmen character in a home game of the all guardsmen party who for various reasons ended up ripping an Arbites head off bear handed because he was a secret worshipper of Korne then proceeded to take his armor and shield painted them read, and revved his chain sword when anybody started asking questions. Turns out a 7'6 muscle bound guards man with Arbite gear, and a chain sword within melee range is pretty good at convincing people to turn a blind eye. He also got various augmentics from helping a powerful noble making him a tough SOB that threw down with an Astarte's, and live to tell the tail even giving the Astartes some decent wounds in the process.
Fun fact about the arbites, the reason why they look so much like Judge Dread is because when Games Workshop was just starting out they produced models for other tabletop games like D&D. One of these was a Judge Dread tabletop game licensed by 2000 AD (company that made Judge Dread). When they wanted to make their own games they had to slowly produce models as the books came out. Unfortunately not all characters mentioned in the old Rouge Trader (later called Warhammer 40K) books could be made in time for their release. One of these models was the adeptus arbites models which were still in the design phase. In order to make up for this Games Workshop encouraged players to use the Judge Dread models in place of the arbites. It became so popular that people constantly envisioned the final arbites design as Judge Dread. GW would actually go to 2000 AD comics and ask permission to realize models that looked like theirs and surprisingly they approved and we got the modern arbites that we know and love today. Also the scraped arbites design would later became the inquisitor model
Heh, still remember a friend of mine playing an Arbiter….She was pretty much the Tank and *MAIN* DPS, mind you, everyone else was either a Basic Soldier/Merc or a Psyker
This was fun! I think the Arbites get the short end because so much of 40k is army v army on some benighted battlefield, and by that point, the Arbites have already fallen. Still, in the Dark Heresy game line, by FFG, they were one of the things your retinue of Inquisitor Throne Agents could have trouble from, since their authority was on par with his, and he was usually not around. Their good armor, decent guns, shields, shock mauls, and robot murder-dogs were really dangerous, and awesome. On the plus side, their remit is so high you usually actually have to TRY to break rules that bring then down upon you. 😆
3:30 Hmm Funny thing.🤔 There is a Judge Dread comic called Nightshift(?). Where Judge Dread comes around of a five berbs, who are just "opening" a stores safe. And he gives the berbs 15 years in cubes if they come peacefully. Unfortunatly berbs open fire, and that is the death sentece.

It even suggested using the old 1st or 2nd edition Arbrites minis. Or take a bunch of raw recruits, give them grav-chutes and melee weapons then watch them get slaughtered.
Fight against an army of chaos cultists and it would be the Arbities breaking up a secret chaos cult on their planet

I laughed so hard from that Speech device clip that I missed half the episode and had to go back and rewatch it. Man I miss those guys.
I loved so much playing an Arbites during a Dark Heresy campaign !!! Thanks for giving them some love :)
Early in the company's existence GW produced a full line of Judge Dread miniatures.
When the license expired they used the old licensed designs as the basis for their own similar yet distinctively different space cops.
3:00 No, not simply implied, it is a truism. Due to the fact that saying that nobody has sway over the Custodes save the Emperor does not add anything new as well as being outright obvious.
I need a book of a Arbities prosecuting an inquisitor and the hell that could be raised with that
Yeah..not happening.... inquisition outranks Arbities... remember this
@Psychometrics to be fair most inquisitors, not all of them are fucking asshats. Eisenhorn and such are the minority. So most might even say thank emporor someone got that inquisitor to chill

Fun fact: GW used to produce official judge Dredd minis.
I like how GW doesnt like people using thier ip but thier ip is made of other peoples stolen ips
Yeah that's been a running theme. I even think a guard unit is based off the Fremen from Dune.
I used to know a dude which was making a tabletop game, GW wanted to buy it, he refused since in the contract specifically stated he could not even claim that he was the one who created it
They are allowed to shoot Inquisitors that break the law but being allowed to kill some of the top mortal badasses of the Imperium does not mean they will succeed.
More often than not, the Inquisitor will just wreck them and make them eat shit and die. And if not, well they probably weren't doing that great of a job to begin with, so no big loss.
Issue is that I'm pretty sure an Arbites judging you guilty allows me (and other marines) to beat the shit out of you. Haven't gotten to doing that yet, though
exactly, it depend on the inquisitor, what happens when they try to judge a inquisitor that has a couple grey knights with him "guilty". Dont think much is gonna happen except the judge getting blown to bits.
@@songhan1586 in that instance of course but most inquisitors do not have grey knights with them and even though they are quite powerful they’ve been assfucked before by less powerful opponents than an Arbites. Sure they’re space cops, but they’re JUDGE DREDD Space Cops, thereby making them 10000 percent stronger by default.
@@theoverpreparerlamenters3r436 knowing your guys track records im really not that concerned
Love these videos, it really is the little things you learn that are the best in 40k. We know so much about the factions overall yet so little in regards to daily life on hiveworlds or the people that live on it. Always liked the concepts of Necromunda or Cityfight, only seen 1 Arbites army in my entire life not on a screen and it was very much as badass looking as any Spacemarine Army. I do find it funny how Arbites have Justicar as a rank for their forces, a Justicar is a Grey Knight Sargent last I checked, why does GW keep reusing rank names for different forces? you'd think they would have a few more to use before they run out.
The Emperor Protects
They're in one of the dawn of war mods and they're so cool. Later on, you unlock the inquisition but the cop dudes are way cooler

Good point about how GW gaurds their totally unique IP (Judge Dread). They also be protecting that Tyranid IP too...
HAS an Arbites actually arrested or killed an Inquisitor? In the lore I mean
These guys would be great for a killteam faction

Kill Team Second edition has the Exaction Squad which let's you do so

GW actually made Judge Dread minis in the past. It's always been a funny back and forth between them and 2000ad.
I love how Dorn understood everyword bug E said except for "ruin"
Not gonna lie when I first saw this I thought this was some judge Dread lore.
Pronouncing it as arbeeties made me wonder if two of them working together would be a diarbetes
"Arbi-tees" lmao. It's ar-bee-tes (like tesla), like an arbitrator. It's not a made up word either.
Couldn't pay attention to what you were saying because you were making me laugh with the pronunciation and Australian accent. A++
Dredd crossing over to 40K would be sick, just like doom guy also
Great comparison there with the almost black and white Arbites vs scheming CIA.
Inquisitor Eisenhorn has mentioned that Fischig is his moral compass.
In the Cain books he always makes fun of the Arbites, because he confuses them with normal police and PDF sometimes
I would love to see an arbites faction in table top. (Or is there one and I’m just dumb?)
The Imperium: "We need zealots for the Inquisition, the Assassinorum, the Commissars, and the Arbites. We need ORPHANS!".
And also the scions and SOB
I do like that in the Cain novels there is in universe a 'Arbitrator Foreboding' series of holodramas to further hit the Judge Dredd nail on the head.
Who else is back here after seeing the new Adeptus Arbities models for 40k/Kill-Team? They look great and they're definitley gonna be next Kill-Team!
0:58 Caption: *Adept disabilities*

An Inquisitor commanding a group of Arbites would be cool to see
I just like to imagine the Judge Dredd universe is a core world somewhere
I love how it almost sounds like you're saying diabetes each time you say Arbites.

An arbites would see Mega City 1 as holiday posting, compared to a hive city.
