YEAHHHHH BABYYYY THIS IS EPIC!!! I GOT MY GIRLFRIEND TO WATCH TDF with me!!!!!
Tell her to give you “hawk tuah” while watching stages
@@GalaxyImpactGarp let’s just say she got bored after a while 👀😂🎀
Stop dreaming mate. You dont have a girlfriend. You dont even have friends
She’s a keeper
Fuck yes brother
I could not be more happy with the results, well done Romain!
chasse patate ? Ouais. Le peloton a fait une poutine.
Romain Bardet in yellow is too cool. Well played by DSM.
He probably wishes he’s always raced like this rather than trying for GC every year.
The dutch commentators were shitting on him saying that they should've let van der broek go first, because be was the powerhouse of the race and how great it would've been for his career.
Everybody saw what van de broek was capable of this race
Nice guys do win eventually
I cannot think of a single rider, who would have deserved riding in yellow for a stage, more than Romain Bardet.
Bardet is a legend of the sport. It was clear they were gonna ride for him. Van den Broek's time will come@@MisterCOM
What a analysation from the one and only Lanterne Rouge!!!!!!
* an analysis ;-)
So glad Cav made it, would have been a horrible end for him
it's becoming embarrassing

@@theofontaine5564is it? He just broke the stage wins record. What have you done in your life to compare to that? 😂😂 be quiet
This is the best first stage of the TdF I have ever seen in 30 years of watching
Last year was pretty great to
Last year better I think
Chapeau Bardet! Finally a maillot jaune for him. :) And Van den Broek is indeed a mini truck out there.
I mean that's probably the coolest thing DSM has ever done. Like ever. Kudos to them.
Maybe I'm biased because I'm from Denmark but Søren Kragh Andersen taking two wins in 2020 at TdF for DSM was also pretty cool!
Very impressive from Van Aert an Pedersen today
The tour is here!
No! It's over there! Wait, you're right. It's here! Hold on . . . uh, never mind!
Always worth waiting for the proper highlights video from LR!
Abrahamsen was super impressive today, I thought
I just don't get the tactics of EF Education. Missing the first group, controlling the whole day, missing out Bardet's attack and finally riding for a bunch sprint without a decent sprinter left
EF Education is like the designated losers of the Tour De France. They just fuck everything up, all the time.

@@veganpotterthevegan @permerte5118 doesn't realize it but he had a weird craving for a half gallon of Oatly this afternoon.
They got you talking about them
You forgot chasing Bardet with Carapaz dangling off the back.
They were a bit directionless.
Footage TDF making me want to ride !!!!!! TDF is the one. Makes us noobs want to shake some speed on our modest steeds. Even at 47 I’m dreaming I’m 17 getting signed. About to ride the TD of F. I won’t stop dreaming until I’m gone. Age is just a number.
Same here at 67 😂

LR covering the TdF, now THAT is something I’m excited for 👍 👍 👍
Also what a stage, 1000x better than a boring prologue
Van Aert could easily chat during all of the ascents of the day: wish him the successes of 2022 🔥
he was dropping at one point bro.
@@skyscraper5910 When?
Hopefully he is fresh from his recovery and feeling good

Cool, UTE is my favourite sports club since I was 3 years old.
Hajrá Lilák! 💜
Never would have thought that dsm would 1 2
Let alone be in the top 5 or top-10 on day 1 - props to them though
yes, pickup truck is a great description of FVDB...I look forward to watching his career
Strong legs. Impressive eyebrows.
Did you say Bardet last TDF???? And Yellow!!! So sweet. So happy. A Brit but a FR winning get in yellow. So sweet
He had announced his retirement at the end of this season
@@harmen1832 even sweeter. For France and him
Sprinter teams are in for a rough and rowdy 3 weeks badly misjudging the weather at this time of year.
So glad Bardet got the yellow. It would have been even more sweet if it were in France, but I’m sure he still received spectacular love and support. Great start. Let’s go TDF 2024!
Stage 1 and we get prime tug buddy action a benji dream
Couldn't be happier for Romain Bardet and DSM!! What a nail biter of a finish!
What a bloody awesome ride for those two. ❤
Vingegaard was on the Radio Good legs! What an Relief👍😜
Yeah that was good news, but we're only on the first stage this doesn't show a single thing

tha'ts not a clothing malfunction. Back in the day they were called crotchless panties
Nicely done DSM
You guys always give the best recap mixing good video footage and beautiful photo's and detailed explanation. Many thanks for this! Looking forward to this tour. Greetings from Italy
Fun fact, Jonas Abrahamsen became the first ever Norwegian leader of the KOM to wear the polkadot 😍
Guess who’s back
Eminem: "Dr Dre!"
State 2 will win Maxim van Gills or some random decatlon rider. I am also exited to watch Kevin Vauquelin after his second place in Flesche Wallonne.
Best first stage of a TdF in my memory. Cannot even think of any 1st stage coming close. Became even more exciting because of the jonas/Pogocar rivalry since most knew of Jonas accident and Pogocars positive covid test 2 weeks before start.Following if any off them were showing weakness, just added to it all. Incredibly they both looked strong which only makes the also tough stage 2, potentially just as exciting. YEAHHHHH! 5 mountain tops on stage 1! What a stroke of genius from TdF. NEVER another 1st stage TT again!
Time cut for this stage was 61 min, Cav's group came in at 39 min down, so they had a buffer of 22 min.
I'm surprised they didn't let it go further. He could have started his recovery on the last descent.
Uno x is the first team this tour to use electric car
EF is using Cadillac Lyriq EV as its team car
I would bust my cycling tops now too having been off the bike a while like the Anchovy.😅😅
Love from Florence ❤
Awesome stage. Great finish. Loved the break not getting caught.
Cav’s interview after the race…. “If you’ve got my body type don’t start cycling”
Frank van den Broek has exactly your bodytype and pulled Bardet to victory loooll
I don't think anyone expected to see Cav in the group after those climbs, so he's all good.I think he's capable of win or two this year.
Bardet winning stage 1 & getting yellow is so cool! He definitely deserves this more than anyone in the race.
You think Frank van den broek is a sprinter?
By exactly a like you mean two arms, two legs and near the same height😂
@@treadtyred9742 My thoughts exactly. Lol.
@@treadtyred9742 lol yeah the only diff is 3cm in height. Weight the same. Stop glazing your boy. He is cooked
@@kconnnnn body type is far more than height and weight.
How come Caleb Ewan was a world class sprinter with a climber's size, while Hugh Carthy has a GT podium at 190+ cms?
The whole day I was sure Marijn van den Berg was in the group because of how EF were pulling. Kinda shocked they put so much on Bettiol's sprint
Motor interference (th-cam.com/video/MH7TUxJypKg/w-d-xo.html) is exactly what allowed DSM to stay ahead 🤨
DSM this is what I’ve wanted from you forever. Great work today
Ah so that’s why he pulled exactly zero seconds for WVA like last year ?
Happy to see, I thought this only happened to us fat dudes.
hahaha the "cojones" living in Spain :)
Solid pronunciation, too! So many English speakers butcher that first "o".
Jonas knows what us fat guys feel like now.
Jonas "Wheel Sucker" Vingegaard
At 2'50" : Woah...what a workhorse !!😳
During the awards ceremony, Bardet still looked to be in shock or disbelief. What an amazing day and final Tour for him. As much as sports are driven by money, greed and skulduggery, these little stories make it all worth it.
Absolute Masterclass indeed
Lanterne Rouge after Stage 1 - Fabio Jakobsen
Cav beat him in the sprint.
This should have been the Giro! 🎉
Exactly! Not a walkover for a certain guy!
Best in the game!
Cav made the cut?
Just when you think you “know cycling,” this happens. Didn’t have a DSM 1-2 and Bardet in the jersey on my bingo card.
What a lovely finish!!! Yay Romain!
Great first stage! Patrick, I'm surprised you were surprised by Jonas' 2-way zipper. I've had outdoor garments with this feature for many years in vests, jackets, and zip-off tights.
I see shadows of Bardet in O Connor and other GC prospects, who've had a big result and then are pushed for far too long to try and compete in TdF GC. I'm so glad Bardet managed to escape that in the last few years, he's looked like such a better and happier rider at DSM (injuries notwithstanding)
I digned up to Join. It gives zone 2 rides every day for weeks. Why do i need a training plan for that?
Watched the race live. Still coming back for your recap! Thanks!
Overall a very good opening stage with things in the balance until the last 300 meters. Excellent ride by bardet. The good- all leaders safely in the bunch no dramas. Wva looks like he has some form maybe the rest did him good. The bad - cavendish with more of the same today and the galiber so early it’s not looking good.
Crazy day from Van Den Broek. I’d love to see his avg power and calories burned today.
2:47 Oooooh! Water Fck?
Let's give credit where credit is due: the amazing motard windshield
Bullshit isn't it...over designed crap😂
F VDB what a ride to give bardet the win, wouldn't see F1 team makes willing to do that.
Epic win for Bardet. Cheers!
yeah baby, so good to be back with my morning lanterne rouge routine
Cav will drop the sand for stage two.
The Tour De France is like a bike race on steroids.
Zippers ain't what they used to be! 😆
The best highlights, bar none.
Best post stage 1 video thanks❤
Thanks good overview

Will tune in Eurosport again Sunday to watch the continuation of the Tour of Mark Cavendish. Can't they just give it a rest for five minutes?
Whatever comes after, just one of those finishes that does the heart good.
I am not crying - you are.

Crazy good win
What a start to the tour. Love your videos
Frank van den Broek 🫡
The omens are good for a great tour .
7:00 love that shot!
What a stage!
👍
The lack of roulers on uae may come to be an issue as we see that they have no one left to pace on flats
not Cav on the ropes in stage 1....
We're back baby!
0:23 "time for some real competition . . ." The Giro was a walk-over, indeed!
DSM with a tactical masterclass and yet the title and thumbnail are about Jonas clothing ...
It's called humour 😂...
I truly love your analysis and understand the commercial imperatives of the TH-cam game, but the titles of your videos are trending toward click-bait-y ridiculousness
knowing LR they just make me chuckle
is this your first time on youtube? the "ridiculousness" is so they can make money and produce more content for us all. Look at other big channels. You have to do it mang. dont know why it bothers you that much.
just go somewhere else, nobody forced you to click...
@@great_live_music "just go somewhere else, nobody forced you to click..." i'm literally trying to have a conversation with him, why would you post this shitty comment?
@@happygamer77 It really doesn't. I can understand titles like these when nothing happens in a stage. But this stage had an amazing storyline, and LR chooses to highlight something we all know is totally irrelevant and unremarkable. It's his channel. He can do that if he wants. But I'm also entitled to have an opinion and share it. Sorry you disagree.
I'm wondering what other's people opinion is on this, I just caught the last 40k at home with my parents on Dutch tv and looking at it I agree with the Dutch commentators that in the end Van den Broek looked stronger and did more than Bardet. They also said that they should have given the win/yellow to Van den Broek because it would be great for his career while Bardet will retire in the same standing whether he wins this stage or not, as well as that Van den Broek plain deserved it. I also understand that Bardet is their leader but still I feel like as marketing/nurturing a prospect and such it would have been great to give Van den Broek the win. (I will say I might also be biased because I am Dutch)
As a french i can say you're 100% biased lol
But so am i then
Wait a few day when the Tour is gonna enter France. Then you will understand why DSM let Bardet win. Or just read the newspapers or the comments on TH-cam. Everybody likes Bardet and with this yellow jersey it's a feel good story for him, the Tour, the public and DSM
neither one would win without the other one. it was a teamwork and bardet is the leader. that being said, van den broek was an absolute machine being able to pull after being almost all day in the breakaway. i believe i wasnt his last chance in tdf.
I think go with Van den Broek reaction. Coming across the line and in the post race interview. He clearly feels that it was Bardet who made the play for the stage and not him, and that the most significant factor was that Bardet kept the pace up on the hills.
Also, keep in mind that it is much harder for Bardet to get away from the peleton than it is for Van den Broek because of his climbing reputation. The timing has to be perfect. That's not to take away from what Frank did, by the way. Put simply, I was absolutely awed by his performance and found it inspiring.
Face the fact: Cav is too old for this. Doped to the gills Horner could get a victory at Vuelta at the age of 42, but age hits different for everyone. He's done.
People said this last time and he proved them wrong. A quick reminder of his results last year before crashing out - 5th, 4th and a 2nd place due to a mis-shift. Riders who compete for stage wins in the most prestigious race on Earth are not "done". Watch him prove you wrong...
@@evanedwards2501 I've seen enough yesterday.
Well...
cav aged better than your comment 😂
@@Robberscave1 on so much juice everyone can do it. My point stands.
And that's the last anyone will see of Bardet in this TdF.
who cares, he did what he had to do! Where is your BF Froome?
Was hoping Cavendish would not make the time cut... I do NOT want to see this dude crying and blubbering like a child, which he will do if he gets the 35th.
