    I loved that looped progression at the end. You did a great job placing the parts in different octaves and using different rhythms so they didn't step on each other.

    Ive always been a huge fuzz fan, so Ive always run some form of Big Muff as my distortion, and I dont think I could have it any other way. Works incredibly well with both high tempo punk and slower, metal-like riffs.

    Cool seeing you put these pedals to use. I always thought you use pure VST and simulators.

    • @SugarpillProd

      Typically I do, but it's always fun to bust out the pedal board every once in a while. Plus it's a lot more interesting to look at than an OBS capture, haha.

      @@silveralt98 Most of the time I'm just using my Axe FX, but if I do end up using a sim instead, it'll usually be one of Neural's (Nolly's is normally my go-to) or Guitar Rig 6. Can't say I've ever heard of NAM though.

    I played through a jcm 900 or 2000 DSL 100 and I usually use a Friedman Buxom boost, Wampler Triumph, or a Mosky Silver Horse and it kicks both amps up a notch, and if I want higher gain I'll throw onto the pedals at the same time

    • @sgtmusic
      @sgtmusic ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same.. JCM900 with Dual Reverb, DDelay, Wah wah and Tuner for live shows. Only now adding pedals back in: Tube Screamer and DS-1

      @@sgtmusic I have the High Gain Dual Reverb 50w but with 6L6, do you have EL34 tubes? You know i have an SD-1 but I like what my Wampler, Buxom Boost, or Mosky do for my amp better. I also have a Berhinger Vintage Tube Overdrive T0800 that doesn't sound too bad through it but I'm using it onnmy bass rig right now for OD. Do you habe any videos of your band?

    • @SugarpillProd
      @SugarpillProd  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's been awhile since I've used any pedals, but I'd probably just try to keep the level pretty consistent from one pedal to the next. Just makes things easier from both a practical and recording perspective.

    • @SugarpillProd
      @SugarpillProd  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sure thing! Out of the ones I own / have tried, I tend to like the blues driver styles, as you can get a nice, crunchy sound out of them. I don't really like super high gain tones for punk, so something like that is a nice in-between.

    Is it really necessary though? I don’t think any of the big bands like The Clash Dead Kennedys or the Circle jerks used any

    • @SugarpillProd
      @SugarpillProd  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Dead Kennedys lead guitars were always caked in effects like delays and reverbs. That's a big part of that surf rock sound they had going on. The clash also used a lot of phasers / flangers. Like if you listen to Mick's leads on Jimmy Jazz, or just London Calling in general, there's a lot of effects on them.

      But, do you think you need pedals to play punk in a live setting? Is it necessary for the rhythm guitarist?

    • @SugarpillProd
      @SugarpillProd  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@allstarlord9110 I don't think you "need" anything, it's entirely down to personal preference. I don't personally use any, and if I need an effect, I'll just apply it in post for the most part. I think it mostly depends on the sound you're going for. If it's a straight forward punk band, probably not. If you're playing shoegaze, then most likely you would. Context is key.

    Hi man sorry for the beginner and stupid question but in some lives of Anthem pt.2 by blink, the intro starts with a clean “dirty”(?) distortion and then the riff becomes heavier with another distortion, what pedals can i use to replicate it?

    • @SugarpillProd
      @SugarpillProd  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're using a clean amp tone and then a distortion pedal to drive that, I'd just leave the distortion off for the clean arpeggio part, and then kick it on for the main riff.

    • @SugarpillProd

      A compressor pedal is pretty helpful, especially if you're doing a lot of tapping parts. Outside of that, I wouldn't say there's a ton of specific pedals you'd need for Midwest Emo.
