Doc shows the install of the keypad door locks that he has installed on ALL his doors over the years. It's critical to make sure your doors are always locked for safety. These locks us a four digit code that you can customize and add up to 8 combos. Not only do these keypad locks offer safety but convivence as well. Never get locked out again.

I meant to do a follow up to my original post from a month ago. A couple of days after my original posting I went to Lowe's and purchased this door lock and a dead bolt (which must be purchased separately) because my front door has both. Another reason for Lowe's is not only was it the same price as Amazon but I could get it the same day. Didn't have to wait two days for delivery. Also one of the Lowe's associates was kind enough to re-key the dead bolt to the one key provided with the door lock (it only comes with one key because you're supposed to use the keypad to unlock the door) and even gave me the second key for free. Installation was a breeze thanks to your video and yeah, you're right, the way the wiring is supposed to be tucked up inside it makes it a challenge to assemble but it is doable. My one complaint is when I try to open the door at night and the front porch light is off, the key pad does not light up so making sure to press the correct key buttons is a challenge. Good thing my cell phone has a built in flashlight! LOL Overall I am quite pleased with this door lock so thank you very much for sharing this video!
Push the top button and the keypad will light up.
@@HowTowithDoc Thank you sir! That worked. I went back and carefully read the instructions again (Some documentation I don't throw away as I never know when I might need them again.) and I couldn't find any reference to doing this in order to temporarily light up the keypad, especially at night.
I am very interested in all things to become more self sufficient and resilient. Protecting family is highest priority!
Love these. I also have these on all of my doors. Hated locking myself out. lol.
I changed all my locks with electric locks, the most difficult part of installation is that wire. Good tips!
Now that I’ve seen how easy the lock is to install I t’s time for an up grade, I’ve been locked out before and it was very expensive to get someone to come out. Thanks Doc
Agree 💯 on those locks. Very secure and very convenient.
Let's go with that new channel! I'd like your insight.
"Be prepared." - Scout motto
I’m very interested in seeing how a proper offgrid program is ran, what a years worth of food looks like, and how you went about convincing and bringing your family around to how important this is.
Thank you so much for sharing and I really look forward to your new channel.
Thanx Doc. I really enjoy your current channel and another one would just double the fun....go for it!
Yes, please go ahead with your proposed channel. I am very interested!
Looking forward to the new channel!
Yes … interested in new channel.
Thanks for video , I’ve been debating it for a while and now will . Also your lawn look great , deep green!
Great video and I’m on board with tips for living through storms and SHTF events! Let’s Go!
What up doc, I always thought you were just a landscaping channel. I like how you do it all, you da man Doc.
Great can't wait for the new channel, I'm interested in hearing about the solar project.
Looking forward to the new channel.
Thanks another awesome video.
Not just yes but hell yes Doc with the new channel!
Interested, but keeping the one channel would be just fine. All your content is great... I've been using these types of locks for about 15 years. The battery lasts for years.
Very interested in your new channel. Thank you for continuing to share your information 🙏💖✨
Yes interested in the off grid channel
Thanks for this great video! I'm thinking about going with the Accent Lever handles instead of the Georgian Knob even though they are $25 more. A couple of important notes I read on Amazon customer reviews for this model: 1.) the Georgian door knobs have different length shafts. The doorknob with the SHORTER shaft goes on the inside and the doorknob with the LONGER shaft goes on the keypad side. 2.) another user said he had to replace his every 2-3 years because the electronics failed and Schlage DOES NOT warranty the electronics, only the "finish" and "mechanical". Just thought I'd pass that along. Thanks again for the great video!
Definitely interested in the new channel!!!
I work for Schlage 👌🏼. Smart man lol
i see alot of folks get really concerned with the door locks while right next to the door is a nice clean window to enter... if the lock is stellar then the door becomes a weak point and next in line is the frame. i remember in navy housing we had a steel door with a steel frame and a high up small kitchen window...that with one of these code locks would be the just about perfect picture....nice channel to hang out on very nice
Thanks Doc. I'm trying to convince my mom to install one on her door. She's a bit old-fashioned.
Just buy it and install. Better to ask for forgiveness than permission 🤷
I’m in Doc. Will be watching the new channel! Fix that squeaky door 🤣
I know it’s a building code issue, but I never liked that you could break the glass on the door and reach in and unlock the door. I changed my lock so it’s keyed on both sides. You could also use the Defender Security U 10827 Door Reinforcement Lock with the assumption that the average intruder would be unfamiliar with how it operates.
That was one of the first things I put on my doors when we moved to the new house. My kids and wife habitually put it on. Even before the dead bolt goes on. I've shown they way too many of these kinds of videos 😂
Great info as always, Doc! I’m interested in the new channel as well
We have thought about being more prepared for whatever can happen. That channel would be great.
Yes please let me know what it will be and when.
I'm going to order some today!! Thanks for the info. Am also interested in your new channel, looking forward to that!
Thanks Doc for the great product recommendation. Ordering these.
I have something similar. The auto-lock feature is the main reason. In reference to the battery. Just change it annually. I don’t care if it works well beyond that. I change the batteries in every sensor, fire alarm and lock in the house annually. I would never wait to be alerted to a low battery.
I'd be interested in those vids
Great video Doc!
I'm interested in your proposed channel. I'm not a prepper but also ready for a "lock down" or whatever can cause a need for reserve food, guns/protection, water, alternate heating, stand by generator, alternate cooking sources, Medicare, emergency kits, supplies, ETC.
Yes interested on the other channel.
These locks are great. Just keep the buttons clean as the ones that get used get dirty first. And don’t pick a code like 4444, for example. 😊
The numbers tend to wear out and get dirty with repeated use. Some of the newer combo locks mitigate this by lighting up a couple of random numbers which you press in any order before you enter your combo. This will keep all the buttons looking the same.
We have had them for 3+ years with heavy use. Zero issues on that point.
Super easy to get in. With the master code
The "master code" doesn't open the door, and I don't think the average thief would have it. They would be more likely just to break the glass or kick the door in.
Thanks Doc!
Interested in what you got going on your other planned chammels
Yes, interested
New channel yes Doc!!!!!
Those would be nice to not have to carry keys however I think the door could still be kicked in without a deadbolt
Correct, any INSWINGING door is easy.
I bought an anti kick switch years ago that my family habitually use. Super easy to install. My kids don't even think about it, they come home from school and put it on before even locking the deadbolt. I can put the link here if you'd like
@@57kwest Yes that would be great. Thanks!
I really like this lock, but does it work with a door that has deadbolts? Thanks for all you wonderful videos Doc!
Yes it does! Covered at one point
If you can always open it from the inside and have doors with windows, what's to stop someone from breaking the door window and reaching in to open it?
Ok but what stops them from breaking the glass reaching in an opening the door ?
Nothing... but then we have alarms and are armed.
Yes
Hey Doc! Would love to see a new channel focused on preparing for emergencies.
Yes interested!!
Hey Doc, do you still have that U-shaped air conditioner in your master bedroom? If so, do you still love it?
We have a 1 1/2 story home where the only room upstairs is a game room that our son occupies and we're constantly having a tug-of-war with our lone central AC system that tries to accommodate both levels of the house.
Yes, GREAT unit for us. We also have one in the office upstairs now as well.
Interested in the new channel!!!!!
We have one that once inside you manually lock. It doesn’t lock on its own.
autolock is key

What’s the best camera surveillance layout for a remote area?
What do you think about the Amazon’s Ring products for Ranches, Backcountry and remote cabins?
Is that a metal-clad door? I'm asking because there is a noticeable gap between the backing plate of the keypad and the door. I was wondering if the door had a dent/divet in it.
I don't like that style of lock because you can notice the wear pattern on the keypad digits.
Didn't tighten down all the way until later

What type of glass do you have on your entry doors?
With how your glass door pane is setup, If that clip, that you shared, happened to you personally, how would you have reacted? Much rather, what procedures have you practiced in order to be ready for such a scenario? (Please put yourself in the wife’s shoes and then the husband’s shoes).
Thanks for sharing!
Love it
I am interested! Please let me know the channel! Thanx Doc!
It looks like the keyboard doesn’t fit tight against the door. Did you forget a screw or something?
Didn't tighten all the way. Went back and did. Good eye
Will that handle go in both direction for both left and right hinged doors?
Yes, the LEVER handle can be switched
No dead bolt?
We have them on the other house.
Interested
Sure, why not
Very cool 2/12/24
i’m definitely interested send me a post with the channel so I can watch it
Wouldn't people overtime see wearing on the 4 buttons you press or more oils from your hands to see how you get in?
Nope... 3 years later none showing
interested
$120 each
Well worth it. Your family is worth more.
Would you recommend a heavy duty strike plate or 3 inch screws for better protection?
yes, but a swift kick will take out most doors that swing IN anyways.
Doc lost some weight - he's even yummier now!
😂
What brand lock do you use?
It's so easy to bust a door frame with a kick of a boot! If you want your family to be safe, then get a mean dog and a gun!
Army K9 here.
all that is good but what about those who are very low income.. i prefer to save my soul...
David and Goliath...
No wi-fi, no power, no cellular, no phone, no key.
They do NOT rely on any power or wifi
Here for the MAGA content!!!
Know a smart phone random number generator can unlock a door easily. So buy a smart one that knows when it's being compromised.
No wifi connection.
Or, stop living in fear of the world and learn to do do as people have done for centuries before us. Go out and meet your neighbors, build relationships, and start watching out for one another. I live in a town with plenty of people around. I haven’t locked a door in the 5 years I’ve been here. I’m honestly not even sure where the keys to the house even are.
I never live in "fear" ... enjoying life, love my neighbors but can't take care of them for a month AND my family. The entire point is to EDUCATE them. But as Noah said... "I told you so"
