thnx for putting that up/ had that trip V much on t list after many years of trips into South Westland, but sadly a blown-out Aorta put paid to my hard tramping days, but survived +now am able to enjoy foray’s into t tracked/trailed backcountry on an ebike…. pretty lucky man(almost got Chris Cairns). nice sequential filming + commentary/ LOVED t scenery, I really enjoyed t route-finding bits down South too.

Did exactly this route 5 years ago, but in the opposite direction (skipping Fenella and continuing along the ridge). It's all about route finding - which in this case means make it up as you go along! Very exposed in places - quite scary (especially as we were descending those vertical scrambles you were going up). Wild country - a bit like the rest of everything else west odf the Main Divide.

awesome vid, so the high route still doesn't get close to the ridge proper, I thought it would be closer than that. Whats the 3D stuff from is that an app you use for navigating? I live just down the road from the start of this track, really want to do it one day! thanks

Cheers, yep the high route is not on the ridge. I use an app call relive for the 3D stuff to show the route. It is magic country in there
