Mike Schmidt was going through all the animatronics and spare parts and messing with them to dig out the remains. Doing this made him stink, thus the mention of an odor. The newspaper posters spell it out for us, telling us how the killer was never convicted, how he did it, and where the bodies are. And depending on the ending you get, the ghosts either get their revenge or the killer succeeds. Now the fun part is trying to reconcile this backstory with the sequels, and then you will know the frustrations that Scott Cawthon felt in trying to keep the story both refreshed and cohesive with each new game.

Honestly I don't know when Sister Location (as in when Mike goes down there to find Baby) takes place though there is implications that Elizabeth at least probably died in the 80s? I mean unless that little girl's bedroom in FNAF 4 is Mike's room (its not impossible) that means Elizabeth was alive during this era. Also given that room has a regular bed and not a crib that means she was probably at least a few years old a the time too. Combine this with Scott choosing a VA that sounds like a very young girl for Sister Location I can only imagine Elizabeth either died shortly before the bite of 83 or a few years after it. OH and kids usually adopt the accent of people in their environment which tells me Elizabeth likely spent the first few years of her life in the UK. Since the Fazbear restaurants are across the pond this makes it very unlikely she was born after the 80s unless our boy Billy Afton dropped all his evil shenanigans just long enough to move back to the UK to produce 1 whole new crotch spawn lol.

I think this is probably a loophole that is the result of the changing lore throughout the series. Playing as William Afton in FNAF 1 is probably the original, or probably the first change by Scott Cawthon. Ig he probably felt that the story was too on-the-nose with that concept, so he changed it a bit in later games in order to give more depth to the lore. As a result, things got confusing and Ig he just gave up after that and let the community fill in the blanks. A lot of people blame FNAF 4 for the Bite of ‘84vs’87 retcon. But I think the Lore got more complicated solely because of Sister Location.

Ok heres my take on Fnaf 1's date Its 1998 Reasons: 1. *ok just to update everyone i relooked at the page i looked this up on and it turns out i made a mistake the article was talking about restaurants longevity when open so take what i said before this edit with 20 pounds of salt* In the Fnaf movie and the novels the building is always abandoned and the max a building from a bankrupt company can stay in some states is 5 years (if we are assuming FNAF 1 opened in 1988 and closed in 1993 according to the cut Faz Facts) and that lands exactly on 1998 2. The date on the paycheck also match 1998s november calender 3. In every Fnaf media the building is destroyed after the inicial shift (Movie= the rook collapses; Novels= a storm breaks the building) and since in Follow me the building is cleared out it would make sense that Follow me happens before the building is demolished (since this would be Aftons last chance to grab the og animatronics) and that would mean that Mike would have been fired regardless a week before the building is demolished, and if we know fazbear entertainment they would rather fire Mike than give him his 3rd paycheck 4. It would also makes sense since after Follow me we never see the fnaf building again all we hear is that Phone dude found Springtrap for all we know they found Springtrap in the building rubble and thats why they needed an original builder of the building to find the safe room cause everything is basically destroyed and you would need someone who knows the building to know where everything even is or was I would like to know some other perspectives of my theory so dont hold back

Also, why would he go back to Freddy's 6 years after working there for the first time? If FNAF 1 Freddy's opened around 1988, then why didn't he work there on the first weeks of its opening? Why isn't he behaving the same? If he was already involved with Freddy's whole thing in 1987, why wouldn't go back as soon as he could? Why waiting SO LONG?
And, as you say yourself, and i completely agree with this, Mike went to Freddy's 10 years after a tragedy involving him, why would he break that and go to the 1987 location? I mean, it might not be the SAME place, but the animatronics, monsters, murderer and yellow suits number are the SAME. Besides the Toys, the building, and the time between the DCI and the gameplay, it's exactly the same situation.

Its 1998
Reasons:
1. *ok just to update everyone i relooked at the page i looked this up on and it turns out i made a mistake the article was talking about restaurants longevity when open so take what i said before this edit with 20 pounds of salt* In the Fnaf movie and the novels the building is always abandoned and the max a building from a bankrupt company can stay in some states is 5 years (if we are assuming FNAF 1 opened in 1988 and closed in 1993 according to the cut Faz Facts) and that lands exactly on 1998
2. The date on the paycheck also match 1998s november calender
3. In every Fnaf media the building is destroyed after the inicial shift (Movie= the rook collapses; Novels= a storm breaks the building) and since in Follow me the building is cleared out it would make sense that Follow me happens before the building is demolished (since this would be Aftons last chance to grab the og animatronics) and that would mean that Mike would have been fired regardless a week before the building is demolished, and if we know fazbear entertainment they would rather fire Mike than give him his 3rd paycheck
4. It would also makes sense since after Follow me we never see the fnaf building again all we hear is that Phone dude found Springtrap for all we know they found Springtrap in the building rubble and thats why they needed an original builder of the building to find the safe room cause everything is basically destroyed and you would need someone who knows the building to know where everything even is or was

So in the Golden Freddy discussion, how does that work when compare to Movie version? Golden Freddy had a physical form to kill the aunt and to show the weight difference when getting in the cab, but he still teleports into the house and disappearing outside the pizza place during abby's scene.
It could be a case where it’s just a projection but non physically things can physically interact with the world. This has happened previously so it could just be that

@@ImpulseEvan37there isn't even evidence for FNAF 3 being 30 years after FNAF 1. Only after a closure of A freddy's restaurant. Considering FNAF 2 at the time was a secret prequel, I think FNAF 2 is actually set in 2017, thirty years after the 1987 closure. There is also a "real value" puzzle in the security logbook which through using inflation values you can find that it matches up pretty well to 2017.

I always thought Henry was the one who went to prison, like, in FNAF 1 I think Scott put that poster thinking the killer who ended up being Afton was convicted, but after inventing Henry and expanding the lore I think he, in his mind, may have considered that poster to now mean Henry
I think that would be cool, if instead of Henry killing himself, he goes to prison (and maybe kills himself after being released and doing the pizzeria fire but finding out he failed)

My answers:
With more recent titles well the order of FNAF 3 and FNAF Pizza Sim have been right the year due to people combing FNAF AR, FNAF HW, FNAF HW2, FNAF SB+Ruin lead me to these beliefs. (Also Movie)
For 2000 being the year of Sister location I think with the Idea of Vanessa being an Afton being highly likely means a lot, but the father isn't Micheal base on Vanessa therapy files as a Kid her Father was named Bill(aka another name for Will/William) and he caused his wife to "end things" my manipulating Young Vanessa so William would have to be alive long enough to have a 4th Child before being Springlock and the Springlocking happen around the same time as Sister Location, base on Vanessa Email name her year of birth base on trends is 1997, and most people oldest memories they can recall from adulthood is 3 at the youngest. This mean around the same time as William going back to Freddy's he just finished his Divorce, this also explain Mrs. Afton. But why 2000? Because it was odd the Movie to change the story for a Movie audience they had it set in 2000 which mean that year might be important. Finally the Divorce is a Good reason for Sister Location events to happen because it removes Micheal from showing up to help his Mom case and id Micheal survive then it be a good reason for Afton to go back and remove what he can at Freddy's as his Freakshow animatronic are on the loose, Micheal is aware that his father might been a murder that killed his first sister and might be at fault for Micheal's prank gone wrong, and 2 of his employees were found dead..... So yay William wanting to use the remain parts for more remnant well going back for the suits, heck just burning the remnant away to get rid of the Kids souls since burning remnant was His Idea. Yay that make me think FNAF Sister Location and the FNAF 3 Minigames Happen in 2000s.
For the 2015 claim this is something other theorist have came up with as SB dates were wacky and Didn't make sense to be in the 2030s, AR hinting in cut emails that it might be taking place in 2020 due to Vanessa age being early 20s and that game needing to take place after Pizza Sim, plus that weird 40 Years Birthday Party for Freddy Plushies, all that put together make it feel like FNAF 3 happen earlier then we think, and by looking at Micheal's text in the logbook, Math base on "For Real Value" which Credit too the Redditors and small TH-camr who did this, convert an 1992/93 Fazbear Ticket price and got 2015 as the year Micheal wrote in the Logbook in FNAF 3, 30 after Freddy Fazbear first location was closed and now elements are being reused for Fazbear Frights. Also this Mean SB+Ruin take place in 2023 when looking at the context of the monthly issues for Fazbear Catalogs as the next year after is 2027 and Vanessa seem fairly young so earlier the better and it lines up as SB take place 40 years after Freddy's first Pizzeria was open and now they have a Megaplex Mall... This also mean FNAF 3, FNAF Pizza Sim, FNAF HW, FNAF AR and FNAF SB Ruin events happen close to the year they were release as Games which is funny.
