@@struancochrane753 The Futurity Stakes has always been around for as long as I can remember and has been a good guide to the following season's Derby over the years. It's the addition of all the other group 1 races from 5 to 10 furlongs that I disagree with.
@112sje Used to be the Racing Post trophy, until Vertem stole money (allegedly) from it's investors to sponsor it. Almost always run in bottomless ground. My point was how can you have a group 1 after the season curtain fall at Ascot. Or probably how can the season's championship day be before a well established group 1. Anyhow, Ascot will say the numbers work. Like Cheltenham and 4 days. Trying to battery farm the golden goose.
I have watched racing since 1964 and the powers that be still are trying to sort out how to start a race how to have a consistent stewards system that is 60 years doesn’t bode well does it
Why does this hard hitting journalist of the year never have the topic of people not being paid out by bookmakers like for example this Nicholas (Steve McLaren lookalike with the fringe starts of the back of his neck) Luck comment on punters waiting or refused the be paid by the bookmakers. There is a punter still waiting for his £800 from William Hill but he never says a word, why is that, maybe they pay this plank affiliation deal. Don't be fooled its money over integrity every time.
@@200degrees. That's obvious, but Luck position himself as the seeker of truth and justice on this show and his dull podcast. I said it on X and I’ll say it here: develop tech / use existing tech that allows live recording of the number of hits. If that’s not possible, change the whip rules OR have one person watching 1 or 2 horses in each race. There needs to be live recording by humans or technology. If that can’t be done, Dylan is right about educating people and getting rid of the 6-max whip rule.
Why do they need a whole new channel in Ireland because of the bookie advertising ban? When I listen to the radio online I hear ads relating to local companies and they also do it on ITV……..
Sorry for Dylan Cunha but he started over here from South Africa with one horse now has sindicates etc but obviously has limited involvement so far of Brtitsh racing .South Africa only has seven courses and crowds are amazingly small it’s all off course betting that keeps it afloat . Kyle Strydom top apprentice is over here but struggles for rides and Greg Cheyne eight times SA champion jockey is here and had a winner at Chester t recently but nobody seems to want to put him up .
Painful to listen to that drivel. You only get a job in racing now if you’re a yes man and have a fancy degree. I miss the days of channel 4 with proper racing folk, who aren’t afraid of giving an opinion.
Typical Snobbish comments from people who would like nothing better than have racing held only in the south. Catterick is a great friendly course unlike Ascot that is filled with stuck up old farts.
Duffield/Kelleway, very best of luck to them. Their specific situation aside. In general , if as Dylan said, you need "80 horses to make a business", surely 2 people would need 120ish. Merging two operations that are struggling standing alone, doesn't mean that together they're viable for 2 people. I do understand there will be some economies of scale. There is some 600 licensed trainers in the UK, 27 trainers in the top 75 by prize money have run more than 79 individual horses, that's 5% on Dylan's numbers, with viable businesses. Clearly the number with a viable business is greater, and some don't seek to do it as a viable stand alone income. I was surprised that there was no talk about Champions Day, again run on ground NJH would be happy with running Constitution Hill on, if Sunday's weather had arrived 18hrs earlier it would have been called off. A flat meeting run on the hurdles track, marking the end of the turf season but there is turf meetings after it. Clearly it's a contrived concept, if horse racing is to get fully behind it, it should be the last turf meeting, and the only flat meeting on that day. IMO it's Ascot being greedy, shoe horning in a lucrative sponsored day, that has no business in it's current guise being the seasons curtain drop.
Horse racing doesn't help itself at all, does it? Jockey broke the rules - simple, it should be a DSQ. In no other sport would you not get thrown out for breaking rules. The jockeys & trainers Championship should run from March to November; current system is a nonsense.

More unchallenged and unsubstantiated pro whip stuff. Same old story. How about getting someone on to put the opposite side of the argument and then don't challenge what they are saying. Not going to happen, is it? The Cesarewitch fuss has all come about from the BHA continually pandering to jockeys, rather than just saying hitting an animal once for sport is one too many.
The flat season used to end on November Handicap Day at Doncaster which was the only flat meeting of the day so everyone could meet at the same place.
There is a Group 1 2yrs old race next Sat at Doncaster....its a joke.

I preferred the Futurity when it was run round the bend rather than the straight course

The bookies pay every one of them , that’s why !

Its easy racing TV..put your racing channel in a sky package for extra few pound a month..then u keep your media rights deal in Ireland
