Thanks Dr.. Ashenden I have come to the same conclusion at 58 having lived life as an alcoholic gay man who lived with a Muslim for 25 years . Your comment on Salvation vs Happiness is acute , I had to loose everything , relationship , money , home , mental health and physical health to gain everything and became a Catholic a year ago. I have been met by so much Love and it may be the only great decision of my life.

What a relief, Dr. Ashendon, to finally understand how this dire shift in the culture of the Anglican Church came to be. As a Roman Catholic I sometimes have to remind other Catholics that the story of the woman taken in adultery didn’t end with “neither do I, then, condemn you”, but rather “go forth and sin no more.” Thank you for your courageous choice to proclaim the truth. God bless you and all sincere Christians in this fraught time.

Thank you for your thoughtful and intelligent insights - i agree with you and similarly have traversed the journey of collusion with perceived suffering and at last a vision of salvation via repentance. For me salvation on a personal level is always an ongoing process as I am a faulty human but the mist has cleared thanks to Jesus Christ who has always been so kind and patient with me despite my faults. I am sure I have been immensely irritating at times!!!

Powerful TRUTHS here, Gavin....your synopsis of our devolution...is my story in many ways...as I, like you went through these same time periods in my life intellectually, emotionally, spiritually. ! Great perception.....now at 74 yrs. I am so much more 'conservative' than previously.....the proof is in the pudding.....what a pudding we have created, beginning with being nice & kind...as I thought Christianity meant.....I have had to learn to be discerning....as I always thought it the same as being judgmental...not loving ! During my university years free love was the name of the game (my minor was psychology btw).....Then searched all new age/esoteric stuff, left Catholicism......20 yrs.....later....no answers...returned to Catholic C.......Never looked back....have come full circle at a much, much deeper level !

    Dear Dr. Ashenden,
I would be very interested to hear you and Fr. James Alison (openly gay Catholic priest, self-described "conservative" theologian, and author of many important books) discuss these matters. No doubt you have viewed some of his videos on TH-cam.
Thank you for your many thought-provoking and informative videos and writings. I don't always agree with everything you say, but I have the impression that you are a truth-seeker and a man who genuinely loves our Lord.

They have the right to choose they say but they choose both sin and the church, and the church seems to welcome them with open arms, offering sin and salvation instead of sin and hell. Almighty God will not be so accommodating.
Thank you for having enough love for your fellow-man to speak the truth.
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Good to hear and good to hear so eloquently elucidated. Nevertheless, why has it taken so long and why have the intelligentsia been hoodwinked so easily about human nature. Growing up working class but getting a fairly good education I could have told them about their naive folly years ago. No one would have listened of course - except now indulgent complacency is starting to ring serious alarm bells about our future.

@Dave Fowden - Because most people of goodwill, particularly the educated middle class, wanted to believe that the LGBTQ+ movement really was what it claimed to be about - tolerance and equality. These decent people believed that by accepting LGBTQ+ people and their lifestyle they were being tolerant and accepting. You're right when say that the intelligentsia and mainstream institutions were exceptionally naive. But the LGBTQ+ movement was strategic and purposefully deceptive.

I just discovered your channel and am grateful for your educated, literate, and level-headed commentary. So lacking in our world where all sides increasingly deal in absolutes, slogans, and mockery of those they disagree with.
You make an excellent point about our therapeutic culture. While this transition from religion to secular psychology was already well underway by the end of WWIi, the Freudian emphasis on "neuroses" and "complexes" entailed a belief that one's problems at least partially sprung from some defect in oneself, and therefore that healing might involve change. The new paradigm of "trauma" makes everyone a passive victim--who could blame someone for being injured by trauma?--and thus it is not I who must change, but the world (i.e., everyone else). There's some truth in both perspectives, of course, but I think we've swung too far to one side of the pendulum.

Excellent presentation. The task of every person is to try to conform their behaviour to the Commandments of Jesus Christ. Every single one of us will have to stand in front of Jesus, and we will have to account for our behaviour to Him. A terrifying thought, given our capacity to fail and fail badly in too many cases. Being Catholic is hard. It takes self denial, discipline and determination. We can't do it without Jesus.

you can be used by group, individual, political agenda, personal lusts, OR you can be freed up to love. there are only 2 choices. Freedom or control and the difference is sometimes hard to differenciate until you turn the light on. I stopped a while to listen, and listened to it all. A blessing truly; my dad went that way (and we lived in Brighton); eventualy, through the years he died at the hands of FAUCI and his pharmakeia (which we know in the Greek is sorcery, magical arts, fostered by idolatory). We were R Catholics, but the underworld through the gay community entered, with the magical arts of satanism etc. Dark painful years for mum and 5 children; it was like the tail sweeping the skies, taking us all down. BUT GOD!! Mighty is our God, Mighty is our King, Mighty is our God Ruler of everything. Dad and then Mum passed over the Jordan side, to the glory land, and I came back too 🙂 ... just my siblings to follow. I watch and pray and wait for the change 🙂 Thank you Gavin for your talk and testimony to the Blood of The Lamb.

The problem with getting a degree in psychotherapy, counseling, psychiatry, etc...is that it's way to secular and ignores the spiritual aspect of our soul. I think we, as Christians should all be counselors and ready to answer why we have hope: (Romans 8:24-25).
I'm a counselor with BCTI. Biblical Counseling Training Institute is a free of charge ministry helping those who experience the pain of abuse, addiction, loneliness, are afraid, have no hope, are angry, depressed or consider suicide, and experience hurt and brokenness in this world to receive hope, and freedom through Jesus Christ and the Holy Scriptures.

Every community needs boundaries, and that community doesn't want any. The rational and responsible in the community need to rise up and take it back over if they want to keep allies. What has happened within that community regarding women and particularly children is biblical, and it gets harder every day not to see it. Love is not love when it's destructive, even in heterosexual relationships. 'Harm none' has become harm all as long as I get what I want. That's not sustainable.

    • @godisreality7014
      @godisreality7014 ปีที่แล้ว +1

good comment! That is the motto where I live, here in Disturbia "what I want when I want it". The man of sin will be released and "revealed" but only when the "vibration" hits the lowest point possible, which, as you say, is not sustainable, even though the forces profess the opposite. Therefore the "kings" and the beast will rule together, but only for one hour. Rev 17

11:30 Contrary to what Kurdek (2008) found, previous data from Norway and Sweden, where registered same-sex partnerships have been available since the 1990s, indicate that the rate of partnership dissolution within 5 years of entering a legal union is higher among same-sex partnerships than among heterosexual marriages, with lesbian couples having the highest rates of dissolution (Andersson et al., 2006).

You dared peel the onion to its core, and allowed, with such grace, to see how each layer is connected to one root: salvation. Christianity offers not consolation nor happiness to a fallen humanity. It offers the presence of both a crucified Christ in one hand and a resurrected Christ in the other. Holding both gives me better than happiness. It gives me Presence and Love.

Dear Carrie, it's all in God's hands. But some of the priests I know and respect have been disciplined and silenced. So perhaps the present situation is one in which I can make a more helpful offering to the Church as a lay Catholic than I could as a priest. I miss greatly offering the Mass, but everything we have is what God gives or lends us to serve Him with. So long as we are serving Him, everything else is secondary.

16:20 I did some math proving that the Middle Ages could not possibly have called someone a paedophile for attraction to someone below 15. An anecdotic example would be St. Bridget of Sweden, or as we call her, of Vadstena. She married at 13 and the couple abstained for one year. Equally anecdotic, within weeks of the opening of Romeo and Juliet, Fr. Francesco is ready to marry them, and at the opening, Juliet is 14 within a fortnight, an age at which her mother had been married for two years (i e, her mother married at 12 or at 11 going on 12).
    Statistics = doing math.
    Minimum 11 or 12
Lower quartile 14 or between 14 and 15
    Median 17 or between 17 and 18
    Higher quartile 20 to 22
    Maximum 33
Sample, 32 women, age at first marriage. Here is from 20 more:
    Min is 10 or 11.
Lower quartile is 12 or 13 to 14.
    Median is 15 to 16 or 16 to 17
Higher quartile is 19 to 21 or 23
    Max is 27 or 30.
Here are another bunch of 20:
    Min. 9, lower quartile 12 or 12 to 14, median 15 or 15 to 16, higher quartile 18 or 18 to 19 and max 22 or 23.
    A bunch of 29:
    Min. 9, Lower quartile 15 or 16, Median 18, Higher quartile 21, Max 38.
Here is a somewhat different collection, of 96:
    Minimum, 12 to 14. Lower quartile 16. Median 19 to 20. Higher quartile 22/23 to 23. Maximum 43 to 44.
The key here is, this different collection leads well past 1600 and involves Protestants. Notably Prussians.
The key is not sample size. The other four samples together make up 101 women.
Note, in each case, I have on wikipedia followed a married woman up to her oldest known or detailed matrilinear ancestor, and then traced all matrilinear lines downward, though in the sample of 96 I broke off, not counting those born after 1700 (the sample is ancestral to Queen Victoria, though I am not certain that that is purely matrilinear).

I understand your argument about lack of self control at the end of the day.
The state need such people that rely on the state through dependancy for that control.
You rightly fear that if the gay question is just a matter of 'I was born this way', then pedophiles can use the same argument.
My point would be, that such is a moot point.
We have in this country a line, that ensures such activity does not occur for a reason.
That line is called 'the age of consent'.
You will note however, that the age of consent also came with the idea of legal guardians.
Those legal guradians in the first instance being the parents of the nuclear family.
The nuclear family that is deliberately and openly being destroyed.
Now of course we not only have the medical profession usurping legal guadianship and specifically that age of consent,
we also now have the education system usurping legal guardianship and the age of consent.
This is perfectly in line with the destruction of the nuclear family, and its replacement by subverted institutions of the state.
Pedophiles need control/authority and access to children.
It is the schools/churches/medical and other such professions that have such access power and authority that can not be challenged.
Hence the industrial scale child rape across the country.

Or do you not know that the Lord’s people will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases? Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life!

Jesus said, “I and the Father are One!” (John 10:30)
If you change your God, you change the religion. God is a He.
We have always referred to God, as a He.
If you want your God to be a female then worship a female God, but it's not our God.
If you want your God to be neutral-gender then worship a neutral-gender God, but it's not our God.
If you want to worship our God, then understand we refer to him as a He.
If you change your religion to suit people, then it's no longer a religion of faith but a business with political ‘Woke’ marketing tactics.
‘Our Father’ in the Lord’s Prayer…gives comfort to millions worldwide.

And God (Elohim) made man in his image, male and female he created him.
Elohim is plural, and so the argument goes that God is both male and female.
However he acts in a similar way to an earthly father, in that he disciplines those who sin against him, and so we utilise the male pronoun.

@@fireanduril I heard that Elohim can be singular. I think they said that it depended on surrounding verbs. Something with the Hebrew language. I don't remember exactly, but you may want to look into it.

14:40 What do _you_ call "paedophilia"?
In Sweden, where the diagnosis and the crimes are heavily confused though perfunctorily distinuished on some levels, a man can probably be diagnosticised as "paedophile" for the showing of attraction to someone below the age of consent, which in Sweden is _15._

I truly appreciate Dr. Ashenden, but even Jung acknowledged that people had a strong potential to become deluded, projecting the anima or animus onto others --- essentially creating false gods and deluding oneself. These projections, believed and realised in the trans phenomena and ideology were considered by Jung to be a descent into narcissism. It was not all about being affirmed but therapists are likely to ignore the dangers involved with projections, which like sin, people are tempted to quite often.

Fascinating Gavin. Did you not know grace is merited? My Ytube video in 'Myths in so-called Christianity' Paul proves grace is merited. Grace or sin (works of the law).

Dear Dr Ashenden. You are correct one on thing - said at the beginning - rightly so. We can all be right or wrong. Thankfully, Jesus is our good shepherd. If even one goes astray - etc - .
It behoves us to look to Jesus. Law and Prophets, Apostles and Paul - all get used in the doctrinal push and pull. BUT Jesus and His word it has to be. We must look at this world. It's not just the Church. People of difference in sexuality are all round us. If we are a Church of Mission then we must have rights words. Not the wrong ones.
In 1952, the UK government prosecuted a man for gross indecency. ie touching another man. He was chemically castrated. Two years later he took his own life. That man is accepted now as the foremost and greatest computer science and articial intelligence genius in the 20th history.Every bit a true gentle-man. His 'activism' saved several million lives. Check his bio if you wish.
My point. Consider the what and who before you condemn. I assure you that thousands have taken their lives in similar fashion - without needing prosecution. How many of your friends have done so?. I count three.

He was given experimental female hormone treatment!?! That has an tremendous impact on mood and dignity. Tell the whole story. Perhaps he wished to transition?
I myself with a decade of "fairness" motivated support of gay issues in the past, including Stonewall HQ ...Outrage, (which had a Marxist chomo subgroup it turns out,)
I have seen way too many suicides, especially amongst meat rack youngsters and pass "the parcel teens" GHB lost weekends too.Terrible injuries.
What do you think changed my mind, makes my blood boil still? The attrition rate of self harm coming from the deadliness of the lifestyle.
In memory of those unloved young men l am obliged to tell their truth.

So in another ten years time, will we expect to see an apology/confession for your detour into Maryism? I wonder how many people will be led astray in the meantime? Is there a pattern to these detours? It is only our human hubris that drives us to a Gospel-plus-plus theology. Recommend a thorough study of the Pauline commentaries (letters) to bring you back on track.

.. , The blessing of gay relationships is a political move to try to keep the Anglican Church and Catholic Church relevant in the West where congregation size and income are dwindling. The Anglican Church as well as the Catholic Church has growing congregations in Latin America and African (GAFCON for Church of England, for example). The seats of the Anglican and Catholic Church in Europe are scared that they will lose control to Latin America and Africa. Thus, to bolster up relevance of the Anglican and Catholic church in Europe and USA, these churches have compromised and become woke and has embraced the LGBTQ+ agenda to bolster congregation numbers in Europe and USA. The whole matter is political and an issue of control and domination of the West over Latin America and Africa.
