      @@noblewolfe891 I know what you mean, and, even if there was that help, Riker has risked to die, so Odan has asked to be removed from him because he doesn't want to cause any more suffering to Riker, even if the same Odan will risk to die.
      I hope it will be explained how Adira manages to survive, because, even if she is human, it seems she won't mean a temporary host but she will remain with Tal without any problems: probably, as I told, in these centuries there has been found a way to avoid reject, and she has is not part-Trill.

    Did the Trill decide to play the long game? It's clear the host was not going to live forever. I would assume the Trill would be ready when the symbiote needed a new host.

    • @jonlobello7151
      @jonlobello7151 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Trill symbiant is truely in a "symbiatic" relationship with it's host, benefiting the host as much as it does its self. It shares its memories with the its host and together they form a unique personality. It's a true blend of two individuals. It attaches itself to the mid-spline of its host. On the other hand the Goa'uld symbiant (SG1), which attaches itself to the brain stem of its host (usually by violent means), take complete control of its host by suppressing the host's personality. The only thing symbiatic about this relationship is that the Goa'uld takes over the host's immune system affording the host perfect health an extended life. Other than this fact the Goa'uld is more the parasite than a true symbiant. Now, there is another faction of the Goa'uld that call themselve "the Tok'ra". These are the good guys who only take voluntery hosts.
      Even though they still have a huge ego like the Goa'uld, they are more like the Trill symbiant and just share the host body with the host's personality. However, they are not as blended personality wise as the Trills are and they have to have more of a "internal dialog" with there host.

    • @Dularr

      @@jonlobello7151 The point is rejecting the Human outright. The Trill lost contact with the symbiote. The ability to track the health of the symbiote. Now I know they "star treked" this out and every worked out. But it would be an interesting storyline having a symbiote living in a Human for many years then transferring to a Trill. • @christopherg2347
      @christopherg2347 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      1. Could. There was no data on longterm viability and you have to consider multiple generations (the current host and all future hosts) for any health issues. *Especially* psychological health, as the example of Joran Dax showed very clearly: memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Joran_Dax
      2. If those 50% are 3 times as likely to to be on Starfleet ships or colonies, that means 1/4 of the non-joiner and 3/4 of the Joiner population could have died from ships exploding and supply lines stopping dead.
      3. If we asume some degree of inheritable traits, that can ruin a species genome.

    • @joshuabienstock1015
      @joshuabienstock1015 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I think the idea is that many of those who had been joined were in space at the time of the burn, making it so that the symbiont population (which was always more limited) was decimated even more so than the viable host population. So discovery certainly isn't ruining that precedent its just adding to it.

      Even in DS9, they told their population that few of them qualified to accept a symbiont even though half could simply because they didn't have very many symbionts. With the burn, must of their symbionts would've been offworld experiencing the galaxy so they would only have a few symbionts to distribute so of course they would further the lie that few of the population qualified. Having a symbiont return in an alien host would expose their lie of very strict requirements for implantation hence no media presence at the contact meeting and the desire for their immediate departure.

    Oh gosh...Discovery is truly awfull. Burnham have the power to make any situation worse. "No, none will do that"...shut up, Burnham...it is not your job to dictate how other cultures work ! At least have the minimal decency of TALKING, not giving order, to other cultures.
    And to think I had hopes Discovery could be good.

      What worse these guys are going to kill the human hose just to get the Symbiote. You can't blame Michael for being defensive she believes the symbiode chosen her and she helped really put the bond in and the tal wanted to return to the Federation.
