Pushing security updates to The massive amount of windows VMs is the first obvious improvement I've run across so far.... Besides of course the fact that I can now watch 4K movies over the radio network to my console PC lmao Other than that, internally on the ESXi box I have each subnet limited to 100 megabit per second links to each host as I ran into some weirdness running a lot of the Linux based VMs at full gigabit. One things for sure, it definitely helps support a lot more remote desktop sessions, as a lot of the access to the consoles / network management clients is done over VMware Horizon and I was having issues where after 5 or 6 people logged in The link between the core and site 105 would stop allowing voice traffic due to the bandwidth being almost entirely taken up by remote desktop
Do the MLC8000s require an Astro core to function?
Nope, the MLC is standalone. Stuff like the MGC, DCG, GGM, and S2500 all require a core be that M, L, or K core
Is there any actual improvements to be seen from going to gigabit tho?

@@anongator isn't there a way to tag all voice traffic with qos headers so that that doesn't happen ? Most switches support qos nowadays
@iwontlagback7236 yep there 100% is. I just haven't bothered to set it up yet.......
@@anongator fair enough
Yea it's been on my list of things to do. The gig upgrade helps a lot of non Astro stuff we run over the network so it needed to happen anyway
