This was amazing. Today, I was teaching English to my student from Trieste and I asked her what typical dishes they eat during the holidays. I was shocked and floored when she told me Sausage and Sauerkraut! It's fascinating what you DON'T learn in school and only learn from being with the people and asking questions.
Was nice to see this. I was born in Trieste. Adopted to an American family in 1959. In 2008 I met two sisters and was able to spend time here. Thank you for sharing your time!
Fun fact: when ordering an espresso in Trieste, locals ask for 'un nero' (a black one). You can also opt to have it served in a glass, rather than a ceramic cup. In that case, ask for a 'nero in b'. Also, if you wish a cappuccino, you need to order a 'caffelatte'. In Trieste, a cappuccino ('capo' for short) is an espresso with a tiny bit of steamed milk on top.
Sure, in Trentino-Alto Adige and the Alpine areas near the Austrian border, they definitely eat sauerkraut. But in Veneto, not so much, and even less in Lombardy. In Udine, they do something similar, but they use turnips instead.
Trieste in NOT on the Mediterranean, but on the ADRIATIC.....It's my mother's Hometown as well as the city of my childhood. Lovely presentation of a beautiful and historically significant as well as culturally unique city. I will be visiting family in September after over 4 decades!.😊
This beautiful Italian, Austria-Hungarian Empire City also belonged to Yugoslavia for a few weeks at the end of WW2 (Tito era)...Most of the Ulysses was written here !!

Vous devez écrire un livre sur votre vie
I'm preparing for a family trip in December and this video is very helpful. Thank you so much.
I was in Udine and Trieste a couple of months ago, with my wife, and we enjoyed the visit a lot!

Allora il cappuccino a Trieste corrisponde al "caffè macchiato" del resto d'Italia!
Great swimming, all the way from Barcola to Miramare castle and beyond - keep that in mind!
I was there in May love it the weather was perfect for walking around and enjoying Trieste.
I was there and fell for the chilled atmosphere and the ease of the city❤
Ah, the nostalgia! I wish I could eat sauerkraut (capuzzi), cotechino and potatoes right now!

Sauerkraut is common throughout northeastern Italy not just Trieste.

The unremitting vapidity of the tourism drive...'bucket list'....
beautiful women. nice city. good tour
Great town, but this host is terrible, whingeing about the heat. How dull.
I agree August in Italy is hot she should know, also why don't show the castle on the hill ans the Saint Giusto basilica with amazing mosaic work.
exactly my thought throughout the short vid, if she's being that sensitive to heat, she shouldn't have hosted this kinda outdoor program
🥰
7:14 Gibanica (ghibanizza) is a Serbian cake actually.
Not. We also have in Slovenia. And it is also known in Croatia, so ...
@ How do you call it in Slovenia?
So they comfortably avoided to mention anything Slovenian...wow

My god! Don't you know that Adriatic, Tirrenian and other seas as well, are ALL part of the Mediterranean sea?
@@robertopesenti1173 My GOD...the other side of the boot is on the Mediterranean....we do make a distinction between the two .

There were always talk about Trieste being a free state. I was born in Trieste and I feel Italian and I hope it stays that way.
Trieste never belonged to Yugoslavia! The city was occupied by Yugoslavian troops for 40 days

Summer in Trieste is always been hot.
