Nice video, Paul. It's nice when you get a rainy day in autumn, when things start to calm down. The gentle sound of the raindrops on your mic! And the rushing of wind, and your gentle voice commentary! Lovely!

      Thank you Michael!
      Glad you enjoyed it.
Yes, it was a bit of a damp, but nonetheless, enjoyable walk in the Cotswolds, which I always enjoy - even better when there is no driving involved.
      Take care,
      Paul

What a delightful walk, so glad you ploughed on through the rain. You found some lovely churches & can now add sheep herding to your c.v.

    Hello Paul. Greetings from Poland
What a lovely video. I hope the weather didn't spoil your day. Despite the mist, the scenery was spectacular. What lovely views.

      Thank you Michael!
      Glad you enjoyed it.
Although it was raining, it was still enjoyable and I guess it makes a change from a sunny video.
      Take care,
      Paul

Thank you for a walk to lift the spirits, on a very wet day. The views over the Vale of Evesham towards the distant hills were worth that long climb in the rain. Good to see signs of a revival of rural bus services in this part of the Cotswolds, though I was surprised to see the half hourly service to Tewkesbury. A pity it does not call at Ashchurch.

      Thanks Malcolm!
Yes, one of those 'what's down there' moments that took me to Beckford originally and the surprise when I saw the half hourly bus service - as you say it would be useful to it to serve Ashchurch Station, but the route enters Tewkesbury on the other side of the River Avon I think.
I really love this part of the Cotswolds, which gets few visitors, but is none the less beautiful.
      Cheers,
      Paul

Nothing like the Cotswolds for a wonderful video. The views are absolutely stunning and the Churches although not ornate are so simply beautiful. I had to laugh at the one sheep you caught on video. Even he appeared to be enjoying the view. Fantastic job Paul. Thank you.👍

Yes, I enjoyed the walk despite the weather. It was most enjoyable, and I think a change from sun in my videos.

I knew you would get caught in this constant rainy weather eventually- hope it wasn’t too bad!
Those puffball mushrooms appeared to be in a ‘fairy ring’
So pleased to see a half hourly bus service in the countryside- I made the comparison of where I live & the connection between here & the 2 closest major towns & the bus runs just hourly. Apparently often gets cancelled too. Buses are beginning to be a rarity round here.
I had heard of the new mall but think only a few outlets open so far!
St Barbara’s was a beautiful church- you could tell it was very well looked after. Think she has the attribute of a tower( hence the banner) so it was interesting to find out re gunners & armourers.
It’s a lovely area,so peaceful and unspoilt- thanks Paul for getting drenched so we could catch a glimpse of it all.

      Thank you Diana.
Despite the rain, I enjoyed my walk here.
It is a little known and unspoilt corner of The Cotswolds - of which there are many, of course.
Yes, having a bus service this good in the Cotswolds is really unusual - I do hope more people support it.
Yes, I think those puffballs were in a fairy ring - I think mushrooms 🍄 communication by an underground network like trees do. Amazing, really.
      Thank you 😊
      Paul

Hi Paul! Wow, the fog in the morning was so magical! Love the idea of getting to these places without vehicles, especially for those of us who may not be renting a vehicle if we travel to the area. I enjoyed the arch on that church as well - it's awesome that it's still the original bricks. And I had no idea you were a sheepherder as well! Great story and I can just imagine all those sheep. The size of those puffballs was amazing - I've never seen such large ones before. Such a beautiful area and great tour.

      Hello Donna,
Hope things are good with you.
Yes, that is exactly one of the reasons that I make these car free walking videos - for overseas visitors who don't have a car, or don't want to rent one or drive here. I am increasingly coming into the latter category. Our local motorway, the M5, which goes from Birmingham (near the central west part of England down to Exeter in the South West) is often now closed daily due to accidents along at least one stretch of it.
Those puffballs were huge weren't they? I was really pleased to find them. The nature reserve, now owned by the villagers, was very good too, with lots of diverse habitats. I would like to return to it on a better day though.
Herding the sheep to stop them going up onto the wilds of the hillside was fun too - an unexpected delight! I couldn't film it though as I needed both hands free to wave the sheep down the lane.
      Thanks for watching,
      Take care,
      Paul

Yes, it is a really lovely, very quiet and unspoilt part of the Cotswolds - equally as good for bike riding, as well as walking. I seem to remember that you stayed on the holiday park near Ashton-under-Hill (a couple of times, I think) - nice spot!
I love Bredon Hill - great views - it would have been better on a clearer day, but we can't always wait for sunny days to film, as there are so few of them!!
      Take care,
      Paul

Hi Paul, well done for completing this walk in the rain it must have been very trying conditions but worked out really well.
The two churches were very interesting. Saint Barbara really caught my attention. I've never heard of a church of that name before nor heard of a patron saint of armourers, artillerymen, military engineers, miners.
I spent a bit of time reading up the wiki page is well worth reading. The name was also used in Spanish Galleons for the zone for storing explosives and weapons. It's also the name of Spanish defence contractor, a subsidiary of General Dynamics. It's also believed to be the source of the family of pharmaceuticals called Barbiturates. Patron saint of many many military units.
I'm glad you found a dry spot to have your lunch. Public transport worked out well too. A great Autumn walk, well done!!
    All the best!!

Yes, St Barbara is fascinating! When they build tunnels in Czech Republic and Spain they first build a shrine to her, apparently, before digging and boring can commence.
I certainly have not come across her before.
      Thank you David.
      Take care,
      Paul

      Hi Caroline,
You must have read my mind!
I intend to cover part of the Primrose Line (South Brent to Kingsbridge) when I am there - Loddiswell Station has been lovingly restored now.
      Take care,
      Paul

      Hope you are keeping well.
Yes, this was a very wet walk - the forecast was completely wrong, and it was a challenge filming in this much rain, but I had to perservere with it. It makes a change from the sunshine, I guess!
Still, the walk itself was lovely, and the scenery lovely. Great and frequent bus service too.
      Take care,
      Paul
