  • In this video I show case the Yamaha YJ2 Campus 60 or Riverside 60. I do a few repairs and then get it running. The other bike the Yamaha HS1 90cc twin is the next bike and I just do an introduction on it. It will be showcased in the next video.

    Hey Dale. Been going along on the ride for a while now. Thought I'd finally chime in. My first bike was a used '71 HS-1B I bought from a friend when I was 14. Next bike was an AT-3 bought new at 15. Anyways, I digress. I know the feeling: 'I should have looked at it closer'. I recently picked up a '76 RM 370 right when the Sun was going down and I missed a lot of messed up stuff. Some guy did every hack he could to keep riding it, including welding the shift lever on. I have just started to work on a '75 MT 250. That's how I came upon your channel. The piston was stuck, but the crank looks good and spins freely. Your videos are very informative, and you seem to have all the correct tools for repair and restoration. (Shop envy) The videos are also well-produced!

      Hey Douglas, thanks for coming along on the ride, these old bikes are getting hard to find in good shape and complete. You really have to watch it because some you just can't get parts for anymore. Oh man, the welded-on shift lever, those are one of the hardest things to find for the vintage RM's. I gave up and bought one that was no good just to get the dimensions and now I have made a couple. Not a bad job, but wow......weld them on.... what were they thinking. The 75 CR250 will be coming back to the shop soon to start freshening it up. Thanks for all the kind words my friend and best of luck with your project.

    Hey Dale, short topic to cover in an upcoming video if you would. Decompression. I'm quite sure a lot of enduro owners think that that extra spark plug hole in the head is just to keep a spare spark plug in. LOL. You almost never see the decompression valve installed in them. My first CT came complete with decompression lever and cylinder valve all assembled. Can you tell me why most of these bikes don't have them installed? Also, what are your thoughts on the pros and cons of the system? Thanks Dale.

    • @montana2strokeracer
      @montana2strokeracer  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there, sounds like a good subject for a video to me. As you are aware, to use it to store a spare plug is not what it is for, because a plug just setting there without sparking will be terribly fouled by the time you need it. They are normally used in large cc bikes to aid in starting, and probably the most common reason is engine braking as we used to use them during flat track racing because we didn't have brakes early on and later, they did allow rear brakes only, so the compression release was great for slowing going into the corners, also good for slowing going down hills. The bad part is they suck in lots of dirt.
