  • In this video I pickup a 76 TS400 Suzuki for a good friend. He has given permission to do a will it run video, so thats what we do. I check over the bike pretty much end to end and check every thing thats need to see if it will run. It runs pretty good, will need a carburetor cleaning for sure, but all in all it is a solid bike.

Holy crap! My little brother had a 72 TS400 when he was in school at Auburn. End of the year, he rode that thing on the highway home to North Alabama, in the cold, in rain. Said that was the most exhausting experience of his life. Getting through Birmingham I bet was white knuckles riding. I rode that thing when I went down to visit him.... it was a frikkin beast!

@@montana2strokeracer I suspect it was related to the UK learner laws at the time which said that until you had passed your m'cycle test you couldn't ride anything over 250cc, making sub-250s very popular back in the day ... until the UK govt. dropped the learner capacity limit to 125cc! Yamaha brought in their DT400 which was a rare sight compared to the 125-250cc TS/DT/KE/XL trail bikes of the day. I've had my current '78 TS185 for over 10 years and it's still a lot of fun. Hey Malc, I don't really know, I looked at the battery box and thought 12 volts. But the flasher said 6 volt on it. The taillight and brake lights seamed bright on the 6 volt battery. Oh, I know, I would love to keep them all, but I really am more of a dirt bike guy. I wish I had never sold my RM400, so I guess I'm really just looking for another one of those. I have a friend out east of me, that has been on the prowl for one of these, when I found it, I thought he would snap it right up. He thought about it for a while and asked if it was still available. Low and behold it was and at a better price, so he ask me to go pick it up for him. Thanks for stopping by Malc.

Hey Malc, just looked the voltage up on the Suzuki parts breakdown. TS400A which this one is. Is 6 volt. The L and K models are 12 volt. Kinda makes you wonder don't it. Head light really seams bright on this one. Could be it is running on 12 volt from the mag. But the parts breakdown does list a 6 volt battery for this model. Thanks buddy
