Sir, i am trying to read this topic using RS Khurmi. Am unable to understand the sign convention used there. It seems like the sign convention used in cantilever problems and that used in simply supported beam are contradictory to each other. For eg, in its solutions the sign of sfd is same as yours in simply supported beam. But its sign of sfd is opposite to that of yours for cantilever. Why this anomaly, pls explain.
sign conventions of SF diagram is to take as upward force of left of the section or downward force of right of the section counted as (-ve) sign and vice versa
1 (b) A cantilever of 4 m span and 400 mm depth carried a uniformly distributed load of 5kN / m . Find the value of the concentrated load w acting at the free end so that the maximum deflection does not exceed 10 mm anywhere in the cantilever. Also find the maximum slope due to both these loads. [E=200GN/m^ 2 ; I = 20000 * 10 ^ 4 * m * m ^ 4 .) 10 solve this for me
Use the principle of superposition (assuming you know how to get the max deflection expressions via double integration, moment area or other energy methods). The point load w gives a max deflection of wL^3/3EI for a cantilever, the distributed load gives a max deflection of w_d*L^4/8EI. The max deflection occurs at the tip. You can now equate the sum of these deflections with the max of 10 mm, and solve for P. You can then use P to find the maximum slope (same procedure, but sum up the max slopes for the cantilever under a point load and uniform load).
Y didn't you take the lenght from B to C for bending moment of B And you solved the shear force problem without length between points and suddenly u took the measurements for bending moment at C if the values were arrived then whole problem u did earlier is wrong please check it properly if u have committed mistake then please kindly remove the video and make another one so that no students will fail in the exam seeing your video
Thanks a lot. Really helped. This video scored me 8 marks in my sem. exams.

sf about a section going clockwise
we will take it as positive

RS Khurmi takes it negative.

Sir I did the same method as you said in the final exams but still I got failed and checked that the examiners have given 0 marks for the SFD & BMD

sir i'm confused why aren't u considering reaction force at point A of catilever beam.

Why we didn't calculate reaction forces at A and B like SSB?
Because we already have load at B in cantilever but in SSB we have nothing that's why we are calculating in SSB
What is standard formula for two point loads on simple supported beam
Force bro we have add signs positive or negitive
