I love being submitted by my coach and coaching him through the submission. I also like to end every round with me contorted in some fucked up position and telling every person that they were lucky because "I almost had you" or that they were saved by the bell. While out of breath from getting absolutely steamrolled by people i let them know that any time they want some of this smoke again, they know where to find me. Usually in a puddle of my own sweat gasping for air with a single indian tear streaming down my face after being the gyms metaphorical punching bag.
the worst is people who wont abandon bad chokes. Like youve had me in your guillotine for a minute 30 at this point, Im clearly not gonna tap, just let go so we can at least accomplish something
well, what would you do if you were competing and someone did that? Personally I'd rather learn how to escape rather than blame the guy for keeping his dominant position. Jiu jitsu isn't always about submitting, sometimes control is enough at least thats how i see it.
I mean it works, personally I just show the move and put no pressure, usually the other person takes the gesture well and pretends like i put pressure. Since its rolling and goal is to get better, i see no problem in it. I've had a few black belts actually put all their weight behind it, kinda sucks? maybe but nothing i hold agaisnt people.
I've had a bad neck for a while. If I couldn't ask my partners to go easy on my neck I would have to quit......now look you've got me all insecure now hahaha
I think it's fine and a must if injured. As some people are fucking gorillas and will 2 on 1 double grip the hell out of your neck as if you are an 18 year old specimen of health. No, most of us have injuries stop going so hard
It's more the telling people you're injured and to avoid certain things, then promptly going 110%. Like, you can't be careful and watch for their injury while also trying to not get injured from a person sparring hard
Bro ppl with bad breath are the worst. I rolled with this big dude and I almost tapped due to the smell. Had to get him out quick. Also another pet peeve would def be ppl with long nails. Its like rolling but ur opponent has a knife
Bruh idk mine is oss. Like i met this brown belt who would just say oss and through like up like the surfer sign ever 5 mins or after every roll idk wtf oss means but it doesnt need to be said more than once a training session.
@@joshabreu1156 agree with this, I usually let the new person try until i feel like they're about to cause me or themselves an injury, then i completely dominate them. And 9/10 i just tell them to go like 5 times slower, and to think about every move they make. I've had multiple people thank me about that advice later on.
@@alial-lami7963 I (white belt with 1 stripe) had a private lesson with my professor (4th degree black belt) the night before he competed in a tournament, and we rolled a few rounds. The next day at the tournament, he won. I went up to him and said, "I must have done a good job preparing you yesterday!" Luckily for me, he's got a great sense of humor.
Or people who lie about their rank. I was drilling with a guy that said he was a purple belt and we were working on some stuff from half guard when he was like “what’s half guard?” I was caught off guard but I politely answered the question. When it was time to roll I submitted him 3 times in 3 minutes as a 2 stripe white belt. Before the round was over he got up and acted like I messed up one of his teeth just so I didn’t hurt his ego anymore. Never saw him again after that 😂

Don't think the "didn't finish highschool" guy should be on here. Just because they didn't finish formal education, doesn't mean they don't have something to offer.
I strongly agree with 90% of this but I'm thinking you don't train at a gym that has a good team atmosphere. Either that or you need to get over yourself just a little bit. Jits is a journey spent with other people who may be a little different than you. Maybe you could be just a little more tolerant of different personalities at your gym. Here is my list. Guys who don't talk to anybody and think there better than everyone else at the academy. Keep training and have fun.
@MyGrapplingSucks I know buddy. Like I said 90% of it was great and I can totally relate. I enjoy all of your stuff. It's when you took it to how your rolling with some girl and you don't give a shit about her day at work before the roll OR after the roll. I just think that sends the wrong message especially to guys just starting out. Been doing thus for almost 10 years and have made some great friends. That should be part of your journey. Keep up the good content. Have a great night.

Alternatively mine is people who talk after the roll. Shut up, I'm looking for my next opponent.. I don't want to be odd man out.
