    The base model would probably be great for a tradesman who doesn't travel far for work. Having a 7kW inverter built in is a great touch. A carpenter could easily power a compressor and all rechargeable tools from this.
    Sadly the higher spec models are far too expensive and have insufficient range for a recreational vehicle and the range reduces to far too little when towing.
    We probably won't be seeing it in Australia any time soon. Apparently Ford has stopped taking orders in the US, because there's about a two year waiting list already.

    If the charging infrastructure for the
    J1772 plug isn't widely available in Australia then you will most likely get the same range complaints about the lightning as we get here in the U.S. When in fact it isn't the vehicles range that's the real problem, but the lack of operating chargers for the lightning.

      J1772 is part of the CCS type 1 plug. There is also an adaptor to go from CC2 type 2 to J1772.

    No range test on towing, estimated is not actual. Some tests only show a 105 km range with a large load towing. Would be interested to see that data.

    Hook a trailer or a van on the back and it won’t make it 200k. Absolutely useless until they improve the range. Plus we can’t even power the coast of NSW when too many people turn heaters on. How are we going to do it when we all have to charge cars aswell. I would love one but they are not practical….yet

    • @RocketRod63

      Not to mention how long to charge the vehicle & the cost.
      Other TH-cam reviewer could only get around 130km range towing 3.0T trailer & have to wait 40min to get 75% charge 🤦
      Technology isn’t there yet for Australia 😬

      Mate how often do you go four wheel driving, how much of Australia do you want to see how many times do expect to recharge the car ,do you relize the best scenery of Australia is not sticking to main roads you have to travel big distances to see and discover the best Australia has,do you travel through river crossing how is that for electric motors on the wheels. Or even when the chassis is under water ,the roads out in the out back there as rough as guts so what do you think that will do to all the seal units Mate iam not being smart iam just saying you break down in the bush who do think is going to fix it bush mechanics, what do you think it's going to cost to bring it back to the city to be fixed .you will need the biggest battery extra money towing a carvan you are looking at 5 ton easily car and caravan so extra charging I could go on but it's your choice .

      @@waynehill2430 I think I am reasonably well informed mate. I do however think that EV'S probably aren't suitable for the type of use your describing above. But most utes in Aus spend there life driving around cities with no load or trailer. In which case EV'S are perfect. So its a matter of use.

    Don’t buy this if you tow. You’ve been warned.

    I'm over all the electric vehicle tests. Electric vehicle technology is still not good enough to replace the ease and convenience of an internal combustion engine. And top of this, most modern engine are really very efficient so let's get real and dial back the EV crap.

    A 400-500km range I bet will disappear with 3500-4500kg towed behind- not very practical. I like the idea of a ute with a frunk having the best of both worlds as a sedan.

    • @andrewarnott6112
      @andrewarnott6112 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the usa they have tested it towing 3.5t at 110kph and the range dropped to 80 miles or 130kms.
      And hence to tow for 1000km requires 7 to 8 charges at a couple of hours a charge.
      So essentially usless for distance towing, it may be great however if you only use it around town.

    I’ve read the driving range decreases dramatically “to not much” (150 miles?) if it’s towing a heavy load (which after all is what it will be used for)
    Please elaborate

    • @NZsarge1
      @NZsarge1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I understand it basically halves the range, you get significantly reduced range towing in ICE vehicles too but when it comes time to fuel up you’re not left trying to juggle a trailer around a charging station and you can be refueled, coffeed up and gone in 10 mins. Ev’s are all about how much are you willing to pay (extra) to get into an ev and how much inconvenience are you willing to put up with

    • @spinnymathingy3149
      @spinnymathingy3149 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NZsarge1 true, and a range reduced to less than 250km when towing say a large caravan for family holiday simply wouldn’t cut it

    • @pstoneking3418

      Even range in most gas vehicles suffer a significant range drop when towing. Which is most significant with wind resistance than with the weight being towed. At lower speeds with less wind resistance created the range doesn't drop near as much.

    when all the aesthetics start breaking on these cars and become unroadworthy because you cant replace the fancy LED headlight without a dealership, all gonna wish you had a 97 vw. These vehicles are the same as a cheap electric razor compared to an oldschool 1930s blade that lasts for generations. invest in lithium battery recycling if you want any part of this nonsense.

    battery wieght 817kg payload, distance when towing and speed all contribute to an unsatisfactory vehicle. instead of listening to salesman blurb try looking at qualified automotive engineers.

    An actual ute would probably have better range since it’s more aerodynamic and closer to the ground like a car.,
