So, basically: Guinea pigs require as much care and attention as a toddler with a few extra precautions. I 😁
TOWELS instead of bedding!!! It cut's the cost way down. Shake the towels out, wash as normal, and re-lay them in the cage... We had 3 sets to cycle them in a rotation.

Oh my God, they are high maintenance pets. Now I have 2nd thoughts about getting one. I guess it's much easier and better to have a friend who has one so it's 100% fun and 0% troubles 😁

I miss my piggies 😞 I had them all until the end, the last one lived his last year by himself tho since the others had passed away. He became really social and we spent a lot of time with him and brought him with us on small trips or vacations. He died at 6 years so he lived for a pretty good amount of time. To me he seemed really happy, but ofc I don't recommend only having one guinea pig

angela peace They wheek and whistle really loudy when you get them food, treats or if they want attention. Look up some videos of their noises and dont hide them from your parents it would be pointless to buy them and then have to get rid of them because of your parents. 😣
CanadianTurf Sandwich did you do research? If you don’t know how to take care of them properly, they can die pretty fast. I had a Guinea pig and he didn’t get a lot of food and water and he died a few weeks later.
Does he very loud noises at night? Can you sleep ?

When I got my guinea pig, Genie, I didn't know that they made noises so I was scared that she had a desease or something, but then 2 hours later, after I got her, I looked up the noises of guinea pigs so then I was relived (I can't spell some words right :P) that it was natural.
They arent expensive, its only expensive if they need to go to the vet.

Actually, guinea pigs are expensive even with out including the vet. the cost of their hay, pellets, bedding add up over time. My daughter has 3 guinea pigs and I have 2. their cage set up that we currently have, cost us over $600 becuase they require adequate room to run around as well as have space, that those small store bought cages do not have. Also, guinea pigs are not supposed to get fruits OR veggies. these have actually ended up killing some guinea pigs. I personally have spent Over $300 on one guinea pig due to 2 neck cyst's and over $1000 (not euros) on another guinea pig. The other 3 are still perfectly healthy but still cost money to take care of. If you would like to see what feeding fruits and veggies can cause to happen to a guinea pig, feel free to contact me on here and I can shoot you a picture of the jaw bone that was removed, as well as the 10ml syringe full of pus (they took out 60ml) they took out. The only truly acceptable form of vitamin c to give to a guinea pig is a childrens tablet that has been cut into 25mg.

Great video as someone that has guinea pigs it is good to see videos like this too many guinea pigs end up abandoned because people don’t do some research before getting them
thankyou so much! i am preparing myself to rescue my first guineapig and educating myself about how to properly care for him. your videos have been incredibly helpful! unfortunately his previous owner had him living alone without another piggy friend, but i will not be repeating her mistake and will be rescuing a second guineapig to keep the first one company. i have kept rats for almost 25 years and currently have 12, so i am definitely aware of how much time and money it can take to keep everyone happy and healthy, but i feel as though i am totally capable and prepared to take on the added responsibility of a pair of piggies. your videos have been so helpful and well put together. seriously, well done and thanks again!

Guinea pigs are ALWAYS a part of my life. It's been 4 months since my piggie passed away leaving me alone. Ever since I have no one to listen me out, I've become more sad, tired and just grumpy. Life without guinea pigs sucks.
Too sad. But you can always get yourself yet another set of Guineas. It will be a lot of good times one more.

Briya Rose to me that depends all on the personality, i’ve had 3 guinea pigs in my life the first one lived for 8 years on his own (without another guinea pig) and he had a happy life, when i got another one he wasn’t eating and just seemed depressed so i went and got a 2nd guinea pig and that fixed my problems! there kinda like humans in my opinion, they all have different personalities

horses are the best pet for me, i have a horse, he is well trained and i will be there for him for as long as possible! as will he for me!
All animals are going to be expensive in the long run. And also depends on the person's budget and what they consider expensive.

Your piggies are super cute! Good for you giving this accurate info about the reality of owning these awesome little pets. Your right about the fact they are expensive. Spent $150 at the vet yesterday because I suspected one of mine has diabetes. Didn't even get a positive result sadly. Vet didn't have the confidence to do a blood test just urinalysis. It's tricky when you suspect something is wrong to figure out what it is. I love my piggies and try to give them the best! Thanks for the info

I have school and work so mine are alone for a few hours too. Just make sure they have a lot of food and water before you leave and play with them once you get home. They should be fine that way. Also, don't forget to give them their veggies every day! Good luck

carly art p lucas yeah I've had plenty of snakes. We fed them mice and rats. Never Guinea pigs. My sister worked in a pet store as well and they never fed them guinea pigs. Not only are they typically too large for snakes, they would be just plain bad for them
carly art p lucas your correct. Snakes can eat guinea pigs depending on how big they are. I watched youtube videos on sjakes and theyfeed them rabbits, so obviouslythey can eat guinea pigs because theyre smaller than rabbits, andj0 just saying theyare not bad fod them

I highly suggest looking into guinea pig rescues in your area before buying from pet stores! I adopted my boys from our local rescue and it has so many advantages, they do free nail trims and a bunch of other guinea pig services and boarding, many rescues also have pigs of all ages so you can adopt older pigs incase one of your own died and left a pig without a partner!

I had 2 guinea pigs awhile back one mine and the other was sister. They used to live in the same enclosure. There name was Marty which was mine and Mandy was my sister. My dad got them when we little kids. I want a par once we move to a place more room and once I find a job. I'm watching these videos to refresh my memory.

IT's nice to see this video , which was made a while ago. I did love Pebbles and Little One and it's sad that they did not live until old age. Pebbles was the spitting image of my cheeky girl, Polly Jane, who died 18 months ago. They are now all in heaven together.
I got guineas a few years ago and already bought about 5 more since they die and it's been going on forever. at the moment I have 2, always 2 never more and the last time one passed (a few months ago) we thought about maybe putting up our guinea for adoption but we loved him too much.

About veggies out of season. In winter if you want to save money different kinds of cabbage is great. I did that with mine when I had them and didnt feel bad buying a big cabbage and not able to eat it my self. So tip from me, look up what kind of veggies in all seasons have vitamin c in them.

I got two right now 💕 their names are Hazelnut and Gigi ❤️ I’m getting 3 more since we moved and got way more space, we have a huge room that will be our guinea pig room, where they are and all their stuff. I’m planning on naming them Daisy, Autumn and Chica 🥰
