if I may, I would also add that since you need to begin with at least two piggies, rescue centers can provide already bonded pairs which is particularly important with boys. :)
Yeah, my bestfriends family have a lot of guinea pigs but they had to give one to me because every guinea pig he has come across he bites. They took him to a shelter or rescue and they had to give him bavk because he caused a lot of health problems to the other guine pigs and they have permenant scars. So he is with me withoit any othed guinea pigs and I feel bad but he is a lot happier now.

Hey Sarah, great advices. I'd like to tell you about my newest boy, he's about 9 months old, he's a white male, he's a Peruvian and he's an albino, I got him from Petco a month ago, he's been on quarantine in another room (I own 5 other piggies) but here's the thing, I had seen him for over 6 months at the store, I knew nobody was getting him because of his red eyes even he has long gorgeous hair, he kept growing always inside the hidie, never out. One day he wasn't there anymore and I was happy to think he finally had a new home, little did I know, he was taken to the back so they could exhibit baby pigs te get sold. After nearly 3 months I saw him there again, I couldn't believe it, all grown and still stock inside the hidie, I asked if he was up for adoption since he has been there for so long, the employee explained to me that they have to be for sale for 1 hole year before they can become adoption pets, that's awful, unbelievable and cruel. Next day I went back ready to take him home, they gave me at least a 10% discount (I don't like to buy, I usually adopt). So, the thing is, he's terrified, he has no experience or taste to being handle, he's in his hidie all day, I'm not kidding, he doesn't come out at all, so I take the hidie away for a few hours everyday and he only hides in the hay. I understand his background, I understand his instincts and fears as a prey specie but I'd like to help him to trascend that excessive fear, relax and start being a piggie. He hasn't squeak for over a month, I don't think he even did before, I'm so sad, por little guy. He's name is Brooklyn Joe, I'll appreciate any advice you can give me to make life easier for this little guy. Thank you in advanced and special love for Lyra, she reminds me of Lolita, she past away two years ago this month and I still miss her.
@@jhannaylpha Hello, thank you for asking. He never learned how to squeak, but he popcorns every time hay or salad is on his way, actually he demands by a few seconds chewing the bars of his enclosure hehe, he's gentile and sweet, gorgeous, eats great, loves his hay in a big pile, drinks lots of water, enjoys his pellets, he's very clean and very well behaved whenever I have to pick him up for anything, nail clipping, cage cleaning, hair trimming, it took nearly a year for him to finally behave like a happy healthy piggie. The only thing that never happened was the squeaking, I've never heard him demanding anything that way, but I'm happy he's happy now. Next January he'll turn two years with us and almost 3 of age, he was around 9-10 months old when I got him. Thank you so much for reading our story 😊🐹❤️
Your videos are really helpful and funny. My parents are already thinking about getting some guinea pigs because I am writing down your tips. Thank you so much!!!
I completely ditched any gates/borders entirely! Now my rabbit lives wherever he pleases in my room, he’s thrown around my shoes and pulled out my clothes from my closet shelf to lay on them. Lol My friends think it’s a bit chaotic but I love it, it encourages me to keep wires and other non rabbit friendly things up on shelves and away from him. He really likes it too and loves sitting by my feet or running up to meet me whenever I come home. My pants are also scratched and have holes in them, not that I mind I mostly wear scrubs and I keep those in a container on the highest shelf. XD
Watch out Sarah, Pedro looked soooo comfy there, the might try to steal your bed! 😁 On a serious note, this is all info I'm saving up for when I finally become a pig-mum myself! I always wanted a guinea pig when I was little, but my mum never liked them because she thought they were smelly outdoor pets. Now she says she wants them, because she now knows you can keep them indoors and they're not smelly! (No more than any other pet anyway.)
I've been taking care of a guinea pig that just got dropped of randomly in front of my house, there was 2 but 1 was dead when we found them, my daughter named her Bella
My 2 babies are over half a year old, so they are not fully comftrable with lots of humans around. I cuddle them everyday, i usually let the choose if they want to cuddle or not. And as soon as we move out from our apartment to a bigger house with bigger rooms. They can have half of my room, since i only have my bed and a TV. Im so exited to desing my new room when we get to the new house!
Tysm for making this shorter than some pet care guides. I have adhd and it’s hard to watch something that’s 30+ minutes long and this was super easy to understand and super informative bc im considering getting Guinea pigs so ty!
Can you feed guinea pigs green grass and good quality pellets and vegtables instead of hay? I saw in my area that guinea pigs get either sick or an allergicreaction from the hay that's why I'm asking couse I'm wondering whether or not i should start feeding them hay or not?
I recently went from 2 to 4 guinea pigs and I wish I never had just two. The older ones are so in love and happy now! And the younger ones seem so happy too. I regret always buying a pair before and really think they need more piggies than what's recommended.
I just got a Guinea and was not advised they should be in pairs when I asked so I went back a day later and got the one my original one was roommates with.
I don't have any experience with guinea pigs, but I made a hammock for the mice I was hoping to get, but we never got them. so if I get piggies soon, it depends on allergies in the house, I can hang it up on the shelf for them to climb onto. (The shelf is on the floor, I'm well aware they can't fly.)
I have had 4 rats and other than butterflies and fish they have been my only pets. My mom says I should take a break and save up for a new pet then wait a year so I might save up for two piggies! This video helped so much so thank you!
I have a book all about guinea pigs and it says that wood shavings and sawdust are bad for guinea pigs because they can get bumble foot which swells up there foot.
Hi thank you so much to inspire me to get guinea pigs first I wanted one bit then I watched your videos and I got two and also do every step you said to do thank you 🐹
Your channel is so helpful just got my daughter one for her fifth bday and she’s in love it’s amazing. Is there a meal plan you use or prefer and how often
I had a question because I just started using a litter box should I cut a little opening so my Guinea pigs can walk in or it it ok if they jump inside I don’t know if that’s too much effort or if it’s bad. Also should I keep my pellet bowl in the litter now aswell or outside somewhere. I am using a cardboard litter box and I am using the absorbent training pads under the hay.
I’m looking at getting Guinea pigs. I’ve already got 2 rabbits that have their own room. I would like some tips if possible with putting the 2 different animals in the same room (different areas ofc and they won’t be together)
I just got two guinea pigs! Chester and rhadigast, I have some questions 1. Can they eat chocolate? My baby brothers keep leaving chocolate pellets on the ground and I'm afraid of them getting sick 2. Is it possible to give them a fruit salad? I know they can eat fruit but I don't know how much 3. Do you need to brush the ones with long fur?
Hello i lovee your vodeos ive learnt a lot watching you im a new pig mammy and im learning fast i love my pigs where can i get the bigger bunk beds please xx
@@alphabetmafia_0116 Not always they are actually very territorial. But I'm getting mine today and my sister works at the pet store I'm getting mine from she's getting here from there too and mine and her's are bonded but were alone before that but I know
Hey, Sarah! I love ur videos, they never disappoint! I am 13 years old and I own 2 guinea pigs. I have owned rabbits and other small animals before so I know it’s NOT an easy job. :p I have a 2x5 c&c cage, and I am hoping to get a 3rd guinea pig to add to the piggie family this year. Would a 2x5 c&c cage be suitable for 3 guinea pigs in your opinion?
I really want to rescue 2 piggies but unfortunetly there arent any rescue centers where i live in my city to rescue guinea pigs but i really dont want to buy from a shop because well...i read stories about how people in my city bought guinea pigs from shops and they had many diseases, were going bald and suffering or other animals like rabbits or rats died a few days after purchase... also i have a question, could i use a bowl for water or is a water bottle better?
This is going to sound like a silly question but could you please link your dust pan? I feel like the ones I have bought don't pick up the hay and poops like yours. Thank you for you videos! I find them very informative and fun!
My dad does not agree with having guinea pigs indoors but I agree with having any pics indoors so my piggies have always lived inside with me and we have a amazing relationship
#1 problem new owners have is getting the cages that the stores say is for piggies but are never actually that. Also it is law in some countries in the world that you cannot own a single guinea pig, as they are social animals and live their best lives with another, but where properly bonding your piggies together is a topic that is talked about but not stressed nearly enough. Having had gotten my second female pig over 2 years ago and having not done the introduction correctly, they've just now gotten to a point where they sleep close to one another and don't always fight over the food.
I need advice plz 🙏 brought 2 male babies (12 wks) yesterday and have looked what veg is good to give them and literally gone down the rabbit hole of one cup per day and to given in moderation and getting myself in a tizz as some say some veg are good daily and others in moderation i just don't want to give them the wrong veg can anyone advise what to give daily and what to give once or twice a week as a treat plz 😁.
Great question - I might have to do a video on this as I know it is confusing! Veggies I feed on most days of the week include lettuces (various), celery, cucumber, bell peppers and coriander. Then I add green beans, carrots, cherry tomatoes, apple, other fruits sparingly, sometimes brocolli. One cup per day isn't necessary, I would half that and encourage them to eat lots of good quality hay, and skip veggies if they are able to have just fresh grass on some days. The 1 cup rule is tradition now it's been said so often, but hay really is the most important thing they eat 😊
I stumbled across this video trying to see how to take care of my new piggie. I tried telling my parents that he needed a buddy, but they replied with: “He’s been alone for his whole life. He doesn’t need a friend.” I’ve tried telling them he needs a bigger cage, but they said we have no room. His cage is 24 in. by 16 in. I try to spend as much time as I can with him, but I know it isn’t the same as a buddy. I have the diet down, but that’s it. I’ve also tried telling my parents that these aren’t good conditions for my piggie, but they said: “Are you watching more videos of people spoiling Guinea pigs? He’s fine.” I feel like a horrible owner and I don’t know how to help my pig. I don’t know why I’m writing this, because who will care about a comment on a year old video at the bottom? If anyone’s reading this, I’d like some advice on how to help my pig. Thanks.
I don't particularly appreciate how people think it's terrible to "spoil" your pet. you're not only spoiling your pet, but you're also actually helping your piggie out since the piggie isn't able to care for itself. I recently adopted two piggies so they aren't alone and depressed. instead of a cage, id recommends purchasing Transparent Clear Small Animal Playpen Fence Pen Enclosure, White Clear Plastic Playpen 12 X 12 Inch, 24 Panels they have room to roam around and you can build cute stuff in it. id get this regardless of what your parents think. it sounds like you are the owner and whos taking care of him.
I just gotten a Guinea pig yesterday & she’s been in her lil house for so long, idk if she still scared but she has not come out, I’ve been doing alot of research of Guinea pigs & what to do when their scared but I hope she can be comfortable around me 😕
One day is no time at all, she'll take a good few days to get over the shock of moving, start with gentle quiet hand feeding of fresh veggies and grass to encourage to out more. Consider getting her a friend to live with, they are social herd animals 😊
I've had my two sisters for about 5 weeks. They are expensive to set up properly and I was one of those not expecting to spend so much. I must have spent $700, but I have done more than most as I've an outside cage as well. They seem to love grazing on my lawn. The girls were 5 weeks old and sisters. We are currently going through the bonding process, week week is our command and Amaya comes running. Bela doesn't. Cucumber & lettuce are their favourite.
This video has helped me a lot, but I still have a few quick questions for when i get my 2 guineas: I know i should have at least 2 waterbottles for them, but should i also look into 2 separate hay/ feed bowls? I also feel as if i should have 2 separate pigloo huts for them in case they want to be alone but still big enough for them to cuddle. Should i do that? Also, my enclosure didn't come with a top? Could a thin blanket clipped onto the top work, or is it okay to just leave it open? One more thing. I feel like their main source of veggies should be about 1 baby carrot for each per day. Is that enough? Too much? Im probably being paranoid but i just want to make i get this right and avoid any conflict in the future. Thank You!
My little piggy - Smokey - just died in my arms, today. He was 4 1/2 years old. It was very hot, but they are out in the hutch every summer. They have lots of shade. They had water - both in a bowl and a bottle. I think they must have turned over the bowl this morning. When I went to feed them after work, they were both almost dead. I put water on them. Echo perked up. He's okay. But Smokey wasn't with it. I gave him a cool bath and tried to get him to drink - wetting my pinky and putting it into his mouth. He was very weak. He passed. It may have been heat stroke. I'm very sad. So, whoever may be reading this: don't make the same mistake. Keep a sharp eye on your beasties in hot and cold weather.
Hiiii! Just got some new guinea pigs and went shopping for them. I got them these treats called Wild Harvest Bake shops they say there meant for them but I read there not allowed to eat milk so I want to know if it's okay for them. Thanks so much!!! btw love all your videos 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
Hello! I’m going to adopt a Guinea pig in two weeks! So i have a few questions, how big do they grow till and how do you care for it when the weather is too hot?
I sadly have to have my Guinea pigs in the garage and there going into the garden soon, but it’s sad because they attracted flys when they were inside do you have any tips-? Maybe I can convince my parents to let them inside if they aren’t attracting fly’s, because they used to be so happy and they would come up to me when inside but now in the garage they aren’t very happy.
if I may, I would also add that since you need to begin with at least two piggies, rescue centers can provide already bonded pairs which is particularly important with boys. :)
Great point thank you! 😄

Thank you in advanced and special love for Lyra, she reminds me of Lolita, she past away two years ago this month and I still miss her.
Wow what a soft hearted person you are. How is your piggie?
Thank you for giving us some advice! To be honest, you are a very nice person😍
XD
My guinea pig has a hilarious comb over it is so cute your videos helped me know a lot about guinea pigs because I only have two thanks
This video was do helpful I'm going to get a Guinea pig this year so I'm doing as much research as I can thank you 😊
ahhhh im early love ur videos sarah sending love to all of the pigs
Thank you Jade! 😍
Thanks, a Guinea owner trusted me their Guinea and we are thinking of getting an own one!
Watch out Sarah, Pedro looked soooo comfy there, the might try to steal your bed! 😁
On a serious note, this is all info I'm saving up for when I finally become a pig-mum myself!
Thank you so much Sarah it helped me alot my piggies are well cared for❤❤❤
Because of you❤❤
My 2 babies are over half a year old, so they are not fully comftrable with lots of humans around. I cuddle them everyday, i usually let the choose if they want to cuddle or not. And as soon as we move out from our apartment to a bigger house with bigger rooms. They can have half of my room, since i only have my bed and a TV. Im so exited to desing my new room when we get to the new house!
im getting guinea pigs soon, i want to educate myself. you earned a sub!!!
When you mentioned fleece bedding it blew my mind I will definitely try that
THANKS FOR THE GUINEA PIG SUPPLIES AMAZON LIST AS WELL QUEEN
Tysm for making this shorter than some pet care guides. I have adhd and it’s hard to watch something that’s 30+ minutes long and this was super easy to understand and super informative bc im considering getting Guinea pigs so ty!
I just got my very first piggies on Friday just gone and you and your piggies have been so helpful thank you soo much ❤️
Thank u I was thinking of getting one for Christmas I can’t wait to get one thxs for the tips😊
Just started on my journey, you're a big help ❣️
Can you feed guinea pigs green grass and good quality pellets and vegtables instead of hay? I saw in my area that guinea pigs get either sick or an allergicreaction from the hay that's why I'm asking couse I'm wondering whether or not i should start feeding them hay or not?
Hello Lizette how are you doing today
I have over 40 guinea pigs and they are all so adorable!
Tell me their names 😂
I am thinking of getting guinea pigs soon and this is very useful
what if your only choice is outside in a hutch but it is in a little enclosed building with heating?
Hello Tamara how are you doing today
Hi thank you so much to inspire me to get guinea pigs first I wanted one bit then I watched your videos and I got two and also do every step you said to do thank you 🐹
Congrats on your new piggies! So glad the videos have helped too 😀
Love this! Great info
Hello Robin how are you doing today
Your channel is so helpful just got my daughter one for her fifth bday and she’s in love it’s amazing. Is there a meal plan you use or prefer and how often
I'm kinda starting but I got them in 2021 but I got them at the end of 2021 so this will help thanks
Yay! Good luck with your new pigs!
i love your content and you are so good to your pigs and you know so much about piggies!!!😆
Hello Elizabeth how are you doing today
I’m looking at getting Guinea pigs. I’ve already got 2 rabbits that have their own room. I would like some tips if possible with putting the 2 different animals in the same room (different areas ofc and they won’t be together)
I just got two guinea pigs! Chester and rhadigast, I have some questions
1. Can they eat chocolate? My baby brothers keep leaving chocolate pellets on the ground and I'm afraid of them getting sick
2. Is it possible to give them a fruit salad? I know they can eat fruit but I don't know how much
3. Do you need to brush the ones with long fur?
Please never let your guinea pigs eat chocolate. No to any fruit salads containing sugar syrups either. They have a very sensitive digestive system.
Ok so I really want. Guinea pig and I'm saving so much for one so far I have 2 $ so far but can you use small food and water bowls for them
I have an inside and outside area for my piggies but it could use alittle more space
Hello i lovee your vodeos ive learnt a lot watching you im a new pig mammy and im learning fast i love my pigs where can i get the bigger bunk beds please xx

Hello Lovely how are you doing today
Hey, Sarah! I love ur videos, they never disappoint! I am 13 years old and I own 2 guinea pigs. I have owned rabbits and other small animals before so I know it’s NOT an easy job. :p
I have a 2x5 c&c cage, and I am hoping to get a 3rd guinea pig to add to the piggie family this year. Would a 2x5 c&c cage be suitable for 3 guinea pigs in your opinion?
Hello Elliana how are you doing today
I am trying to convince my parents to buy me at least two guinea pigs and this will really help them!
Hello Jean how are you doing today
How do you know if something is wrong with your piggy and can you have just one why do you need two
I stumbled across this video trying to see how to take care of my new piggie.
I recently adopted two piggies so they aren't alone and depressed. instead of a cage, id recommends purchasing Transparent Clear Small Animal Playpen Fence Pen Enclosure, White Clear Plastic Playpen 12 X 12 Inch, 24 Panels they have room to roam around and you can build cute stuff in it. id get this regardless of what your parents think. it sounds like you are the owner and whos taking care of him.
maybe next time don't ask for a pet of you know that you won't be able to take a good care of it
@@Maja-se3hfare u trying to be rude
I had to ask for xmas
Im gonna get a guinea pig in 2 years So this was really helpful So Thanks
This video has helped me a lot, but I still have a few quick questions for when i get my 2 guineas:
I know i should have at least 2 waterbottles for them, but should i also look into 2 separate hay/ feed bowls?
Hello Ollie how are you doing today
Hello Debra how are you doing today
