A cat is known to hate having their bellies rubbed yet I have had many cats that liked it a lot. They'd throw themselves down and turn over for it. Piggie could be "complaining" because they want you to touch them. They won't usually stick around if you're doing something that bothers them.
@@ferbobjr4569 If it helps, my guinea pig that I had as a kid loved to be cuddled and pat and scratched around the cheeks. She purred to show contentment and when I gave her her favorite snacks and complained when I stopped patting her lol. It seems varied among guinea pigs.

My first guinea pig complained when I stopped giving her attention and my second (her bonded sister that I adopted later) absolutely hated being cuddled but liked regular scratches and pats.

Chirping always gives me goosebumps. For some reason this sound creeps me out more than the other guinea pigs. Especially when I wake up from it. One of my piggies used to chirp almost every night for a month or so after her best friend died. She always slept close to her and got scared "alone" in the dark. Even when the others were just casually chilling somewhere not far from her
I feel exactly the same about that sound. It’s so eerie. When I woke up from it, sometimes at night, I used to just lie in bed frozen, sometimes not even breathing any more, waiting for it to stop. I always perceived it to be a very emotional and stressful sound, whether positive or negative I couldn’t say then.
Mine did it once. I adopted her and her friend they were abused and her friend died very shortly after I got them about a week later she chirped for about 30 mins she has not done it since.
I had a baby guinea pig who was quiet... I bought him newly weaned but was curious as my previous pig in my childhood wasn't so quiet. Then, that first night he started chirping which I knew was he was scared. My girlfriend and I tried everything to calm him down... failed. We gave up and went to bed - promising to buy one of his brothers the moment the store opens... We left him in his hide-y hole since he was calmest there and went back to our room. As we walked away, he stopped chirping for a second. The we heard this singing song like a songbird... It was really truly like a prized song bird aria. We slept next to the hutch... and bought the entire herd the next day. Hahaha Btw they song is variable. GusGus (the original) was a very grumpy Guinea Pig who hated the others and would ask to sleep with us all the time as an adult boar. One day, a few years later. When we refused to pick him up to take him away from the herd because he was tired of talking with them... complained as usual. But then as we walked away sang like a bird again. But this time, it was so calm and the other pigs literally stopped and just listened with their heads up. And we stood there and listened. Forgetting to even record, as we were well aware its once in a lifetime thing. Somehow, I like to believe, he realised something... and was just saying thank you.
When i open a bag of treats for my guinea pigs they wheek so loud it’s cute but it’s so loud that it kinda hurts my ear a little but it’s so cute! Also i loved minne in the beginning of the video!

My smallest guinea pig Popper purrs every time I pick her up. It’s high pitched at she snuggles into my arms. Sometimes she even stretches out and yawns. She just loves being cuddled.

Our very first piggle was an elderly gentleman, Bert. We knew NOTHING about guinea pigs. When he chutted with each step my first thought was, " oh my god, he's got arthritis, poor love". Looked up guinea pig sounds and realised we were getting something right. That was back in 2016 and thankfully we have learned a lot since from observation, searches and this channel. I have two now but they had three baby's sadly the third one died and he looks exactly like his father he died from respertorial disease. The other two have grown up and are with my big sister but I'm thankful that I have my Guinea pigs today fact: Guinea pigs live up to 6-7 years 👌

Thank you for putting this together. I inherited my first guinea pig recently, purchased a companion and have been learning steadily. I showed this video to my kids because they wanted to know what noises they made, and funnily enough our new piggie who hadn’t made a single noise since bringing him home nearly 2 weeks ago, started wheeking and making noise!! And today we got him a friend and they are so vocal together and have bonded quite well so far!

My daughters guinea pigs week all the time. She gives her pigs food at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They get a hand full of spinach! This was very helpful.
I have a guinea pig who does a long purr when I lay down or back and put her on my chest. She also purrs when I pet her, not when I touch only her butt but when I pet her at all and the purring doesn't stop till I stop petting her. She loves to snuggle and every time I pet her she purrs. The purring she does isn't like the rumble strutting or the in heat purr. She doesn't lift her butt or anything, she just purrs like a cat. If I don't pet her enough she will try and nudge my hand to pet her. I've had over a dozen piggies over the years and of all of them I have only had two that did this. Neither of them started doing this right away, it took a long time of attention, love and snuggling.
Saraphiene Haldritch If a guinea pig nudges your hand it often means they want you to give them some space. They do it to other piggies if they are too close. If she is alone she probably isn’t moving/running away because she has no one/where to go to. This isn’t hate I haven’t seen much about your pig (I don’t know it’s personality) so I don’t know if it is purring because she likes it or because she doesn’t. I have 6 piggies all female. 2 of my peruvians (Peppy and Cinnamin) always purr like you are describing. They both will lick my fingers or will nudge my fingers to get me to pet them. Then they will purr. I know mine purr because they are happy😀 the other 4 I have , are starting to pick up on the purring and I have noticed them purr when I pet their favorite spots. It's Soo sweet and cute😍
@@hairbytamara We have 3 piggies, and the largest and oldest female is named Roxanne. She always purrs when I sit her on my belly or chest, and purrs even when I pet her in the cage. She usually snuggles up to my neck for awhile, and will also wheek softly.

I used to have a guinea pig and two rabbits in my house. My guinea pig’s cage was on top of my indoor rabbit hutch which was close by to the kitchen. Every time someone went into the fridge, my piggie would start weeking and then my rabbits would come to the front of the hutch to get treats.

I love animals, and so does my daughter. I wanted to know GP language. This covers everything. I've done so much research because we wanted a friend for my daughter and a companion for our family. I've learnt so much about these sweet creatures , plus my daughter is learning to stay calm when we excersise them. She even talks to them and feeds them. She also feeds ours dog, my friends horse and the pigs on the farm down the road. This has helped her learning issues so much. I'm in love with these Piggy's

Our very first piggle was an elderly gentleman, Bert. We knew NOTHING about guinea pigs. When he chutted with each step my first thought was, " oh my god, he's got arthritis, poor love". Looked up guinea pig sounds and realised we were getting something right. That was back in 2016 and thankfully we have learned a lot since from observation, searches and this channel. I am now the primary Keeper of the Piggles but I am always learning, from them and from you, Julia. Thank you xx

I have two now but they had three baby's sadly the third one died and he looks exactly like his father he died from respertorial disease. The other two have grown up and are with my big sister but I'm thankful that I have my Guinea pigs today fact: Guinea pigs live up to 6-7 years 👌

Thank you for putting this together. I inherited my first guinea pig recently, purchased a companion and have been learning steadily. I whistle to my little piggies every morning and they wheek back to me. This video really helps me to know that I understand what their sounds mean. Such happy little piggies.

I got my guinea pig yesterday and thanks to this video, I found out that petting him on the back is bad, and now I don’t do this anymore! Thank you! I figured that out with the humming noises he made, but today he also made the humming noise when I gave him some Roman lettuce, so i think that means its his favourite food. Thanks for this video, helped me a lot!
I showed this video to my kids because they wanted to know what noises they made, and funnily enough our new piggie who hadn’t made a single noise since bringing him home nearly 2 weeks ago, started wheeking and making noise!! And today we got him a friend and they are so vocal together and have bonded quite well so far!

My daughters guinea pigs week all the time. She gives her pigs food at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They get a hand full of spinach! This was very helpful.
I have a guinea pig who does a long purr when I lay down or back and put her on my chest. She also purrs when I pet her, not when I touch only her butt but when I pet her at all and the purring doesn't stop till I stop petting her. She loves to snuggle and every time I pet her she purrs. The purring she does isn't like the rumble strutting or the in heat purr. She doesn't lift her butt or anything, she just purrs like a cat. If I don't pet her enough she will try and nudge my hand to pet her. I've had over a dozen piggies over the years and of all of them I have only had two that did this. Neither of them started doing this right away, it took a long time of attention, love and snuggling.
Saraphiene Haldritch If a guinea pig nudges your hand it often means they want you to give them some space. They do it to other piggies if they are too close. If she is alone she probably isn’t moving/running away because she has no one/where to go to.
This isn’t hate I haven’t seen much about your pig (I don’t know it’s personality) so I don’t know if it is purring because she likes it or because she doesn’t.
Anyway, I wish your piggy(s) a good life.

I have 6 piggies all female. 2 of my peruvians (Peppy and Cinnamin) always purr like you are describing. They both will lick my fingers or will nudge my fingers to get me to pet them. Then they will purr. I know mine purr because they are happy😀 the other 4 I have , are starting to pick up on the purring and I have noticed them purr when I pet their favorite spots. It's Soo sweet and cute😍
@@hairbytamara We have 3 piggies, and the largest and oldest female is named Roxanne. She always purrs when I sit her on my belly or chest, and purrs even when I pet her in the cage. She usually snuggles up to my neck for awhile, and will also wheek softly.

I used to have a guinea pig and two rabbits in my house. My guinea pig’s cage was on top of my indoor rabbit hutch which was close by to the kitchen. Every time someone went into the fridge, my piggie would start weeking and then my rabbits would come to the front of the hutch to get treats.

I love animals, and so does my daughter. I wanted to know GP language. This covers everything. I've done so much research because we wanted a friend for my daughter and a companion for our family. I've learnt so much about these sweet creatures , plus my daughter is learning to stay calm when we excersise them. She even talks to them and feeds them. She also feeds ours dog, my friends horse and the pigs on the farm down the road. This has helped her learning issues so much. I'm in love with these Piggy's
