Shoebox packing parties are so much fun. My advice is to make up pencil pouches in advance and hygiene kits. It makes it so much easier at the event. I personally like a list of things I'd like the guests to put in every box : notebook, colouring book, pencil case, hygiene kit, cuddly toy and item of clothing. Then I have a table with all the other goodies they can include.
I don’t have a Kroger but we do have a Fred Meyer. I’d checked the other day but not closely. Thanks for the tip….I’ll definitely go back and look for clearance items.
Great Kroger haul! Absolutely love those blankets and so will the lucky child who receives it! In my opinion the plastic bags are fine and perfectly acceptable. Here is a suggestion for you to think about. Why not put it on your wish list and maybe someone would like to purchase pencil pouches for you to use, just a thought. Would a friend have a vacuum sealer to condense the blankets for you? TFS
First for your packing party those plastic bags are perfect for pencil bags. You can pre-make them and they will stay nice and flat, easy to pack into boxes for new shoebox packers. Second, I love those blankets. What a great find. They would also be great filler to send in all squished down like that. It would turn one of those only half full boxes into a WOW box.
I say yes! To using the bags for pencil pouches. They look like great quality bags from what I can see and from how you described them. That is so good to know about the Mandalorian figure! I actually got him at Walgreens on clearance and was wondering how on earth I was going to remove the gun. I knew OCC had said that fantasy weapons are ok to send, but I always wondered if a realistic looking gun with a fantasy character is considered a fantasy weapon. Oh the blankets are adorable. And you did great squishing them down in size and putting them in gallon bag. When I was volunteering at PC last December, our station saw a huuuuge plastic box come through. It must have been more than twice the size of a regular OCC box. Inside the box was a regular size soft fuzzy throw blanket. Anyway, the box was apparently ok. It was processed normally with all the other boxes. So now, I am definitely not going to stew and fret over box size when packing 🤓 TFS, Robynn

I think the plastic bags will certainly work for the pencil kits. Good luck on your packing party.... they are so much fun. Making the kits in advance will help big time in making sure you have what you want in the kits. Congrats on such great finds. You inspired me to stop in our Kroger's today, but there was no clearance. Several rolls of xmas wrapping paper and that wasn't even marked down. So I am very happy for your success. Like you, our CVS was a bust. Still my best finds have typically been at Walgreens, and they did not disappoint compared to other stores.
Perfectly fine to use those bags! They look nice and have added bonus that your friends will be able to see/choose what they’re sending. :) Love those!

That is fantastic that you found 2 Mandalorian for such a great price. I have been looking for the same, but wound up with 2 Grogu instead, from Walgreens holiday toy clearance. (They only had Grogu and storm trooper to choose from.) Would have preferred Mandalorian, but happy to have Grogu. Wow, Cabbage patch for $2? Great deal! Love the stuffies, too. Amazing prices on those, as well. The blankets are precious! Can’t get over the clearance prices at Kroger. Yes, definitely use the plastic zip top bags for the pencil packs for your packing party. They will work perfectly. Nothing is a requirement, including pencil cases.
I’m not a Star Wars fan but guess when my birthday is? I’m slowly getting stuff on clearance etc. On blanket - could you food save it. On the baggies - great cheap option. You could put a sticker with an inspiration message written by the packer.
I think that bag will last several years. I have some bags that are over 30 years old. It's fine. Thank you. Also, could you put things in the blanket and wrap it up to save room? I really think that if you put a vacuum attachment in the bag that it is in, it will work. Try the skinny attachment and see what happens.
Great haul, I too found the stuffed robot at Kroger. 1.70 great price I found three. The cabbage patch doll was a great price. Just take a wash rag to her and I’m sure it will come clean and still look new. I love sending those dolls, wish I would have found some. Love the blankets. I sent a Ryan’s World blanket last year and just rolled it tight and sent it in alittle bigger box. I prayed it would go to just the right little boy. I think your bags are fine to use for school supplies. I look forward to your video this year❤️

Yes yes yes. I think Fred Meyer and Kroger are the same company so hopefully you get some good finds. I check every time I go grocery shopping.

Instruction cards is a great idea. I’m not exactly sure yet what it will look like just a party in my house. But I’m gearing up for it for sure.
