a little sad when The Doctor said that The TARDIS has always taken care of him and has always been there for him, but when it has his turn he couldn't fix her....
hes never been able to fix her, only stop her from imploding, but luckily the tardis is wonderful and basically will save the man she(yes she does actually love him) loves from harm because she is wonderful and mesmerising and yes kinda sexy when she gets going. the tardis is beautiful and when the doctor is sad he cant fix her she gives him a way to undo the damage so they can be together for the last time(that time being until trenselore or as its known the place the doctor defied his own passing.)
I think the episode "the doctors wife" is perfect for this point we know the doctor does work on the tardis(seen multiple docs doing it) but yet can't actually fix the problems. Hell he can barely fly the thing a lot of times.

Any words would have to be pried out of him, and they would not be about his own emotions. Those would be written on his face and mixed with anger. I know Eleven can get angry, too, but in these instances, when he expresses his overwhelming emotion by going wide-eyed and almost blank, I think Ten would be very different. I just find the difference interesting.

Yes and no. He could still live. But he couldn't be the Doctor anymore. Donna's time with the Doctor really showed this. Watch the episode Turn Left. In the beginning, the Doctor dies because he didn't know when to stop. That's the real point of companions. After 1200 years, he's lost so much. If he doesn't have someone, someone innocent and good, he would destroy himself and the universe around him just to have peace. DarkComet360 I think a lot of the Season-7b-and-Clara bashing comes from the fact that a lot of people seem to ignore the important growth that Clara is causing in the Doctor. We actually see him learning a lot about who he is and what he's supposed to be, just from his search to understand Clara Oswin Oswald, the Impossible Girl. Most people want growth and character development in the companion...and so they see Clara as flat and uninteresting, and thus find Season 7b boring aside from the occasional twists and turns and special effects. If you ask me, Season 7b with Clara was a heck of a lot better than Season 7a with Amy and Rory. Though I'd probably still put Season 4 with Ten & Donna as my favorite. :)
They seem to forget The Doctor can grow to. Even a 2000+ year old Time Lord has the right to grow and develop to. And so long as there aren't any half-human Doctors or the TARDIS doing something stupid like changing its exterior color and shape it's fine.
@@theeleventh805gamer7 I don't know, really. Such a multilayered little peace of dialogue; Really brings out some things about the characters... And for all the whouffle awesomeness, I must reserve moment specifically for the stunned reaction/little moments the Doctor has here when he briefly thinks he won't be able to fix the TARDIS, "She always takes care of me..." etc.
Screw the haters. Season 7 was awesome, like every other season. Honestly, I've yet to have an episode I didn't like of this show (except Of Love and Monsters) and I don't have a favorite or least favorite season. I thought Season 7 was great, no matter what people say, and I thought this episode was, too. I'm not a fanboy; I just like the damn show and no one can tell me I'm wrong.
Imo Doctor Who episodes never really get offensively bad, there's just the occasional bland or forgettable episode Series 7 was pretty good for me, not my least favorite but definitely not one of my favoritss
Geez so many haters! I loved series seven so much it's actually my favourite series. And I adore the chemistry between Clara and the doctor it's like two high school teenagers who are too afraid to confess their feelings for each other, and even offscreen their chemistry amazes me! Clara is my favourite companion and I'm only 14 but I have seen all the doctor who's just to clarify and I think it was a change to have someone who's such a strong but still emotional companion. And Matt my favourite doctor so you know I just have no complaints about this series and I found the impossible girl mystery so intriguing!! :)
He played that old/young thing so well.... for a second there he was an old crotchety man “I have piloted this ship for 900 years” and then suddenly was a young man again with “ok this time too” lol. I don’t think anyone but Matt Smith managed to catch that old soul in a young body so very well.
@@thebighurt2495 True, but he generally feels a bit of regret if he has to take a life and / or tries to avoid it. With the TARDIS he just takes them out without care.
I just... I love 11 as he has technical issues with his screwdriver, then taps it a couple times and the weeEEeeEEeeEEeeEEee sticks to his finger and he makes it work again. He’s so precious. This should have been in one of his episodes.
Out of topic but notice how the writers make it so you can start watching at the begginning of any doctors story. With every new doctor there is always normally a new companion that he explains his backstory and origin to so new fans can easily understand what goes on
Jenna Coleman was on DW for 5 years while Bille Piper (Rose) was only on it for 2. I think it says something about what the producers think when they keep a character for that long.
It is bad that I kinda liked this episode? I mean if you look past the really bad acting from those brothers and the pacing was a bit off here and there, but it had really interesting ideas and it was fun seeing parts of the Tardis. I think it was just a bit overhyped and probably could have done with a longer runtime, or even a second part. I miss the cliffhangers and the two parters. I mean, we kinda got one at the end of nightmare in silver but it was wasn't the same as previous series. BBC or Moffat or whoever, please bring back two parters!!
I just saw this episode yesterday and I think it’s one of my favorite ones so far with Clara as the doctor’s companion. I really liked The Bells Of ST John too that one and this one are my favorite so far.
I really loved that epsisode as it was one of the few that centered on the tardis and showed what a magnificient ship she really is, her own pocket dimension, powered by a dieing star! There could be entiere worlds inside her to explore!
The ship is basically an ocean liner designed to be piloted by a flight crew of six and presumably with support staff as well. It's established in the very first Fifth Doctor episode that large sections haven't been opened in centuries, simply because the Doctor and his companions tend to stick to the Control Room and the nearby residential areas.
gracesgr8t “It’s always lighter. If the TARDIS ever landed with it’s true weight...it would fracture the surface of the Earth...” According to this episode, it would do a hell of a lot more than that...
that thumnail is soooo beautiful. so unrealistic and so like a well made fantasy movie wallpaper. flying metal pieces and a two lovers holding their own hands. its like a ending of sci fi Disney movie
I didn't really enjoy series seven for particular reasons and I don't really like Clara but this episode was alright! Of course it had its flaws but this was the episode I enjoyed the most. Exploring the TARDIS is never boring!
TomPen94 I think she's an uninteresting character now. Her "impossible girl" storyline took half a season to complete. They completed it (at least it feels like completed) and what it left behind was a boring character. They focused on the "impossible girl" part more than the actual character. They need to bring something more to Clara (and I hope they will). Something that makes her stand out a bit and more importantly, something that makes her interesting. She could be a great companion but at the time she is not. Feel free to disagree though! It's good that some people actually like her!
Sami Koivisto Yep! It's typical Moffat's lack of character development. He loves his timey wimey plots, but he hardly develops his characters. They are just plot devices. I think the thing that gets me about Moffat's run, is the lack of character development. Why invest in the timey wimey plots when you have no emotional connection to the characters? It's screenwriting 101.
Sami Koivisto I personally really like Clara. It's refreshing to finally have a companion who doesn't just want to get in the Doctor's pants, and I like her sass and streetwise intelligence. I have to agree, though, that the 'impossible girl' thing was a bit laboured, and there wasn't much depth to her beyond that.
What is it about The Doctor ? From the the time I first set eyes on this show in the mid 1980s...I have been a forever fan. Thank you creators, writers, actors, crew .... its been a joyful ride I continue to enjoy as I grow old.
the location of the heart of the tardis depends on the desktop theme in the 2010 tardis for example it was in that big bubble underneath the console in the 2005 tardis it was inside the console so it depends the Eye of harmony is the piwer source while the room they went to in this episode was the engine room wich is not the same as the heart of tardis they are refering it as the heart because they are very deep inside the tardis interior but they are not in the heart itself :D
You lot need to do more reading up on the Tardis systems. The Tardis has two hearts, apparently; one being her link with the Eye of Harmony on Gallifrey, the other being the main space time element which is located under the console itself. I really did not like how the Eye was depicted here; it is supposed to be the nucleus of a black hole, brought back to Gallifrey by Rassilon & put under the panopticon in the Capitol (aka the citadel). All the power of the time lords devolves from it, it powers all their tardises and also anchors the web of time in the vortex! The TV movie with the 8th doctor depicted the Tardis’ link with the Eye quite well, I thought, as opposed to the stupid idea of showing it as a flaming ball of gas suspended in time!
I like Clara over all of his other companions. Incidentally, in "Victoria" they colourised her eyes to make them blue. Except in one scene in I think the first episode where she walks past a mirror and looks into it. They didn't colourise her eyes, and you saw Clara. Was the "Impossible Girl" Queen Victoria as well? :P Probably not :)
I'm one of those who think that Doctor Who _really_ ended in 1989 with the broadcast of "Survival" ... I reject the 2005 reboot in its entirety ... and _yet_ ... and I say this completely unwillingly but because I have to ... Matt Smith is a natural Doctor. More than that: he's one of the greatest.
Clara is there for the Doctor. That's it thats all. And she loves him and as much as the Doctor can love and thats a lot he loves her too. And that should be enough for us.
I wouldn't be a good Doctor... because I'd keep falling for them sidekicks. How he keeps avoiding romance each time is the real mystery in these series.
am i the only one that after seeing Rose looking at the heart of the tardis for a couple of moments and becoming a goddess, was kinda disappointed that the doctor and (especially) Clara, could just walk into it without consequences? what about that "i can see all that was, all that could be and all that must never be" thing?
I don't know why, but the theme for Matt Smith's Doctor ("I am the Doctor," "Basically, Run"), part of which played near the end of this video, really strikes me as beautiful, and I profoundly wish that the BBC would bring it back.
I finally understand all of the Clara’s she went in the doctors time stream to stop an evil man and she was everywhere and is basically never going to die until the doctor does
Her with John Smith, yes was good. her with Capaldi, not so much. Honestly, she got too reckless, almost to his level. The companion is supposed to ground the Doctor, not egg him on. Early Clara was fine, but later she was just Doctor 2, minus the screwdriver. Did not help, that the BBC was trying to force SJW themes, into the show every week. The later Capaldi stuff proved that thought true, with Bill and her SJW BS
I absolutely adored Series 7 but never really liked this episode very much, but watching this scene again... it's amazing! Really think I should give this one another go :) I do find it a bit odd how the Doctor is so confused by Clara though... surely it can't be that hard to work out that Oswin and Victorian Clara are a result of something that happens in her future? He's seen much weirder things in his life!
I like Matt Smith and all and I understand he's trying to act as alien as humanly possible, but him being all touchy feely on Clara is creeping me out.
"Oh clara you are beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Your beautiful fragile human skin." The Tardis imprinted a message to the doctor to tell him what to do. The tardis has always been there for him, Beautiful Bad wolf she is the tardis!
Gary bit of a late reply, but I don’t think that’s a part of the door. If it was, the Doctor wouldn’t have even met the salvage crew, let alone threaten them. In reality, I think it’s just an especially dark piece of metal.

And for all the whouffle awesomeness, I must reserve moment specifically for the stunned reaction/little moments the Doctor has here when he briefly thinks he won't be able to fix the TARDIS, "She always takes care of me..." etc.
this episode was the closest Clara and The Doctor got to dying and the most scared The Doctor has ever been and it was sad to watch them like that
Ohhh how much i miss the relationship between the 11th Doctor and Clara... ohh.....soo sad...There like a cute couple...Like if you cry every time..
+K.E.V.I.N me too! I loved them together
You ready... Geronimo
Ahemmm, what about River?
More like the best pair of BFFs you'll ever see
So sorry...
They're not there - they're is short for they are and there is a preposition ( over there)
Screw the haters.
Jack Partain i didnt like Sleep no more. Just didnt feel like doctor who
That's me with a lot of things. I just like what I enjoy.
Keep on liking it, I ain't gonna object.
Jack Partain exactly the same, I just wish I watched series 8 and 9 a little bit more but every other series was just brilliant
Yh series 7 is quite good too.
Imo Doctor Who episodes never really get offensively bad, there's just the occasional bland or forgettable episode
Series 7 was pretty good for me, not my least favorite but definitely not one of my favoritss
I wouldn't mind being in Clara's position right now :D I bet being hugged by Matt Smith is a nice and wonderful feeling :D
your confused it would be.
being the doctor would be though.
I don't care what the haters say, I loved this episode, and I LOVED SERIES 7!!!
I'm going to miss these two together so much... Also Jenna is gorgeous
When you realize that the destruction of all type 40 TARDIS was in fact a genocide.
The implication seems that every TARDIS is alive. Kind of calls in to question the callousness of the doctor destroying the occasional one.
@@Here_is_Waldo The man's wiped out whole galaxies worth of people by now. Killing a few TARDISes isn't that big of a deal compared to that.
@@thebighurt2495 True, but he generally feels a bit of regret if he has to take a life and / or tries to avoid it. With the TARDIS he just takes them out without care.
He destroyed the Master's TARDIS on Traken.
"You're insane!"... yep Clara ... that's the show
With every new doctor there is always normally a new companion that he explains his backstory and origin to so new fans can easily understand what goes on
I LIVE FOR CLARA AND ELEVEN HOLDING HANDS ITS SO CUTE AGH
Don't worry, it looks like Series 8 will be 'back to normal'.
How do you think we fans from the 1963 - '89 years feel?
I just saw this episode yesterday and I think it’s one of my favorite ones
so far with Clara as the doctor’s companion. I really liked The Bells Of
ST John too that one and this one are my favorite so far.
It's established in the very first Fifth Doctor episode that large sections haven't been opened in centuries, simply because the Doctor and his companions tend to stick to the Control Room and the nearby residential areas.
one of my fave episode!! Clara is amazing, her & Eleven were so hot together, their chemistry were literally gorgeous.
My favorite Doctor Who episode ever! (Don't hate!) And also my favorite doctor and one of my favorite companions!
It's a good one
gracesgr8t I’m not the biggest Clara fan, but she had her moments...and this episode was phenomenal.
gracesgr8t “It’s always lighter. If the TARDIS ever landed with it’s true weight...it would fracture the surface of the Earth...”
According to this episode, it would do a hell of a lot more than that...
Love Clara! Love this episode! Love Matt! Love her outfit here! Love exploring the tardis! Miss doctor who! Miss Matt! Miss Clara! Miss season 7!
I love Clara.
So much.
I almost cried here, I love the Tardis almost as much as I love the Doctor.
I personal think Matt Smith was the best Dr. Who ever. Clara and Amy were amazing. Best sonic probe ever. I have one of those. Great fun.
that thumnail is soooo beautiful. so unrealistic and so like a well made fantasy movie wallpaper.
flying metal pieces and a two lovers holding their own hands.
its like a ending of sci fi Disney movie
I didn't really enjoy series seven for particular reasons and I don't really like Clara but this episode was alright! Of course it had its flaws but this was the episode I enjoyed the most. Exploring the TARDIS is never boring!
There are a few good episodes such as this one and Hide, but they all had their moments.
Sami Koivisto
Yep!
Callum McKeown Well I became very attached to Amy
Sami Koivisto I personally really like Clara. It's refreshing to finally have a companion who doesn't just want to get in the Doctor's pants, and I like her sass and streetwise intelligence. I have to agree, though, that the 'impossible girl' thing was a bit laboured, and there wasn't much depth to her beyond that.
We'll miss the both of you

HIS EYES
O MY GALLIFREY HIS EYES
THIS IS WHY I LOVE MATT SMITH
RIGHT HERE
Very good episode, almost surreal. I don't know why they hate it so much...
What is it about The Doctor ?
From the the time I first set eyes on this show in the mid 1980s...I have been a forever fan. Thank you creators, writers, actors, crew .... its been a joyful ride I continue to enjoy as I grow old.
Matt smith is the best doctor ever I wish he never quit
Just so cute that they automatically hold hands ❤️❤️
"Okay then, well, that's water-tight." XD I love how she sasses him but still trusts him
Clara is so pretty how. Her and the Doctor look great together
I thought the heart of the TARDIS was a beam of light that shone out of the console.... Perhaps this is it up close... And personal?
fankidtastic The supernova trapped in stasis is the power source, not the engine. You don't say that the gas in your car is the car's engine.
Good point!
the location of the heart of the tardis depends on the desktop theme in the 2010 tardis for example it was in that big bubble underneath the console in the 2005 tardis it was inside the console so it depends the Eye of harmony is the piwer source while the room they went to in this episode was the engine room wich is not the same as the heart of tardis they are refering it as the heart because they are very deep inside the tardis interior but they are not in the heart itself :D
The engine transforms the fuel (from the star) into energy
This is when he began to understand Clara.
when you still can't read her hand to this day even after pausing the video for a hour looking at it
It's reflected backwards, right to left
Does it say Big friendly button? That's what I can see
EDIT: can confirm it means big friendly button
There’s a whole world in the Tardis.
You know, I wouldn't have minded a Rose reference somewhere in this heart of the tardis scene. Shame.
She is the one mystery worth solving, and I would love to have the chance. And all those hugs.
Not for lack of trying on Clara's part mind you. Governess Clara is...
Anyone remember a show called ‘Doctor Who’? It was about adventures, mystery and fantasy but above all it was FUN
This was by far one of the best episodes.
am i the only one that after seeing Rose looking at the heart of the tardis for a couple of moments and becoming a goddess, was kinda disappointed that the doctor and (especially) Clara, could just walk into it without consequences? what about that "i can see all that was, all that could be and all that must never be" thing?
Rose looked into the time vortex inside the console. The doctor and Clara walked into the frozen engine explosion.
It took me a while, but I came to really love Smith’s depiction. Makes the current state of affairs very depressing.
I don't know why, but the theme for Matt Smith's Doctor ("I am the Doctor," "Basically, Run"), part of which played near the end of this video, really strikes me as beautiful, and I profoundly wish that the BBC would bring it back.
There should be something just dedicated to the TARDIS, she has as much life and soul as the rest of us
0:25 He said the exact same thing to Donna, and Wilfred, etc.
I once thought that Clara could regenerate except not change their look and that's why she's been in so many time periods and places
To be precise, he couldn't even pilot it the first three incarnation
I finally understand all of the Clara’s she went in the doctors time stream to stop an evil man and she was everywhere and is basically never going to die until the doctor does
I don't know why you noobs don't like Clara. She's one of the best companions.
Willfred mott
And after 5 years.... I still think Clara was amazing. Every companion has something special imo
Amy was gold
Her with John Smith, yes was good. her with Capaldi, not so much. Honestly, she got too reckless, almost to his level. The companion is supposed to ground the Doctor, not egg him on. Early Clara was fine, but later she was just Doctor 2, minus the screwdriver. Did not help, that the BBC was trying to force SJW themes, into the show every week. The later Capaldi stuff proved that thought true, with Bill and her SJW BS
crazyjr *matt Smith
I miss Matt already ;__;
WOW, SHE IS INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL.
900 years? I expect him to be older than the universe ten times over.
The song near the end is called fire women by the cult it is played through the episode
2:07 Excellent Graphic! I Love the Graphic designer!
“I’ve piloted this Tardis for over 900 years”
Yeaaaa.. probably just a tiiiiny bit more than that.
Millions of years
I love Clara´s face at 1:41! She did the same in The Crimson Horror...
Doctor: This is the heart of the TARDIS
Clara: wHeRe nOt dEd
His eye color is beautiful
I absolutely adored Series 7 but never really liked this episode very much, but watching this scene again... it's amazing! Really think I should give this one another go :) I do find it a bit odd how the Doctor is so confused by Clara though... surely it can't be that hard to work out that Oswin and Victorian Clara are a result of something that happens in her future? He's seen much weirder things in his life!
2:08 what if quicksilver came outta nowhere And fixed the core up? 😂
1 series later: "I don't think that I'm a hugging person now"
I'm not sure you're gonna vote
I like Matt Smith and all and I understand he's trying to act as alien as humanly possible, but him being all touchy feely on Clara is creeping me out.
Well, I guess we all die now.
*I am the Doctor starts creeping from the background*
Big Friendly Button! Love this episode :D
That was great, I love it, you can tell he looks so much older here compared to how he looked in the eleventh hour
"Oh clara you are beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Your beautiful fragile human skin."
The Tardis imprinted a message to the doctor to tell him what to do.
The tardis has always been there for him, Beautiful Bad wolf she is the tardis!
omg, i just realized i fell asleep during that episode and missed that moment. Have to rewatch it now.
i actually cried when i saw the heart of the TARDIS broke
Loved Matt’s doctor
2:17
why is there a piece of the door on the far left?
Gary bit of a late reply, but I don’t think that’s a part of the door. If it was, the Doctor wouldn’t have even met the salvage crew, let alone threaten them. In reality, I think it’s just an especially dark piece of metal.
Chameleon circuit, dimensional transcendence, wibbly wobbly....
Why *wouldn't* the tardis have bits of its exterior lying about its own interior ?
