if wind does not dictate direction the smoke always tend to lean to nearest vertical object. Try placing log of wood vertically near the campfire and feel the difference. cheers
The smoke always head to the low pressure so you are right a good size log close ish to the fire might just help. I will give that a try next time im out, thanks for that.
