I am surprised people still smoke in Canada. What's a pack cost now? I quit over 10 years ago. Everyone in TN, USA smokes here. I never knew how much of a disgusting habit it was until I quit.
That is a good question I will have to see if i can find out.
I just looked it up roughly $16 to $20 a pack. wow that is crazy.
@@davebloggs here in TN, USA is 5.25 a pack. I am from Canada, But I came from the Niagara Falls, Area. Been in USA now for 30 years. I would say 95% of the people smoke here. They all stand in front of the grocery store smoking. Most men chew and spit also now that is really disgusting.
@@SurvivalSavvvy There are strict rules about smoking near doorways etc here. its a crazy habit.
@@davebloggs Not here. A few years back they would smoke in restaurants here. Now as you drive north toward NY the rules get more strict. Where motels in the north do not allow smoking at all where as you go south you can get smoking rooms. I quit cold turkey it was the hardest thing I ever did and took me 2 months to over that hurdle. Believe it or not I still get a craving 1 time a year now and it hits hard for 10 min.
People that take care of the trails never get enough credit. Thanks
Thank you for watching and your kind words. I have been looking after trails for many years. I just added it up its 28 years in Canada. I wonder how many trees i have moved in that time. Now I feel old
Nice video ❤❤❤
Thank you for watching.
Lovely mountain, cozy content!
Any time in the mountains is good time thats for sure.
It is hot in TN, USA, 40C you will melt out side.
wow 40 is hot. its only 18 deg C here today and that feels warm. thank you for watching.
Do you ever get worried about bears or wildlife. I lived in Alberta for s few years and was always cautions when in the wild. Now im in a part of Europe where there are hardly any wild animals and must say it's quite nice not to worry about.
I have over the years had a few bear encounters, i grizz was only 50 feet away, it scared the hell out of the person with me but it took off up a steep hill. i have walked past a black bear at around the same distance, it looked at me and carried on eating dandelions. 2 encounters with cougars, one on a small Cliff that just watched me and one i had to scare out of a tree, and the only thing I have ever been chased by was a moose, and I can tell you i wont go anywhere near a moose again. i stumbled across one in the forest and he was not happy that i was there, but in over 25 years in the mountains that is all i have had, i see them lots hear them lots but they cant wait to get away from people thats for sure.
TH-cam recommended and I enjoyed
Thank you for watching much appreciated.
Oh I live there in fact I swear I seen someone recording but am not sure if that was you or not.
Im very often around town doing pictures or video. if you look through my videos I have quite a few around the city, thank you for watching.
@@davebloggs Ok
Thank you for doing that work! Massive kudos.
You are most welcome I enjoy doing it, I have been doing this for over 25 years now, I have a much bigger project lined up for this coming weekend but wont know the scale of it until I get there, thank you for watching
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! As soon as your Ferro Rod strikes produced flame, you stopped striking it. I see some of the guys on here striking their Ferro Rod several more times, once a flame has been produced and I'm thinking; "What are you DOING!?!?!?!?". The BEST Ferro Rods are good for 10,000 strikes or more... But there's going to come a time, near the end of its life, where EVERY single strike matters and if you're stranded or living the true "Mountain Man" lifestyle then you should stop striking your Ferro Rod, Flint, or anything else you're using as SOON as it goes to flame; Just for that time when you might be down to your last strike, in a situation where you're trying to prevent hypothermia or anything of the sort.
Thank you for the reply, I would agree I do see people striking the heck out of the poor old ferro rod . To me its a tool and like any tool you it wisely ,fire is the most important thing where i live.
Thanks for that tour. I have fond memories of visiting there several times as a child in the 90s. Sad to see it go.
Sadly the land it stands on is very valuable, and I have to say it will be interesting to see what is built in its place. cities evolve over time and this is just another step in that direction. i have seen photos where that area was all just full of houses. with washing hanging in the garden and kids playing in the streets, all from a time gone by. progress i guess. thank you for watching.
Thanks for showing around Calgary…nice. Appreciate the upload…new sub🙏
Thank you for watching, I have several Calgary videos in my list here over the years,
A good way to start the day.
You sound English. Are you? But where are you filming? Canada or America? or Europe?
Canada, thank you for watching.
'An excuse to bugger off into the woods! '😂 Straight up. No beating around the bush 😂. Thanks for the video 😊
Thank you for watching much appreciated, i have just got back from around 12kms in what turned out to be calf to knee post holing. had a great campfire and then walked back a different route along a logging road. will up load video soon. again thanks for watching. happy trails.
Great vid man. Very informative and interesting
Thank you for watching glad you enjoyed it.
Wow is it still snowing now in Canada? 🤗 Hello from a camper from Malaysia
Oh yes . we get snow from around october to around may. tonight we have a snowfall warning for 10 to 30 cm of snow
@@davebloggs oh my! that's half the year! 😅🤣 that's awesome cos it looks so good in video 😍 but nor so nice when it's too cold too long....
@@davebloggs where I'm staying, it's mostly hot and rainy all year round... we have to go camping up a mountain region, and even that it seldom gets below +10 C 🤣 my Black Camp video was very misty and cooling, but even that was only 16 C
@@kayfunkids we have 2 seasons here we have winter and not winter yet . in winter its cold minus 35 deg c is normal and in summer we have plus 35 deg c, im not a fan of the rain thats for sure. i dont mind being cold but not so keen on being wet.
@@davebloggs just noticed I haven't subscribe to your channel, came back for it 😍 liked your video, keep it up!
This building is getting demolished in may of this year and a lot of memories I had a seizure in that building and staff got me help by getting ambulance and my sister was a janitor was fired cause me and my mom stop by for a min to see her.
Im glad you are ok,. not all memories of places etc are good ones however the building will be gone soon and a new beginning for Eauclaire . lets hope the new place has better memories for you.
Good job my brother and good healthy 🌿🤝

Nice running into you today!
Nice chatting to you. i just subbed your channel ,It will be interesting to see how it all comes out with the new designs etc.
If you did not open the lid a dozen times it probably would’ve boiled by now
you are right but the idea was to just see if it would do it or not. and it did it well.
This is a TULD type cooker. There are many possible loading and combustion methods, but only one optimal one. It is very compact, universal and effective. Its shape and modular design are an excellent basis for modifications and improvements - over the course of several years of use, I have made 14 of them (I also have a gas and alcohol insert for it). I achieved comprehensive management of oxygen, flame, combustion temperature of 500 ~ 1100°C, charcoal and embers. Disadvantages: weight, transport space and self-degradation of the material (inox 304). I think I know "almost" everything about her.
To me they weigh just about nothing and it fits very nicely in the pot I carry along with many other small items so im never worried about that. as for material. I have used mine extensively and have had no degradation in the material so far. overall im very happy with it.
@@davebloggs #1. What matters is that you are satisfied. I am also very satisfied. I have three pots and a frying pan, and a small Ohuhu stove inside (135 mm diameter). #2. The cooker works even better after using covers and reducers - DIY. It burns even longer, has more embers, does not dirty the pots, sparks do not burn the tarp / hammock... #3. Structural degradation is not visible - it must be an electron microscope! But the rust is visible - look from the inside. #4. I also have a large version of it (200 mm) - this is a challenge.
some of these video clips are in the wrong order oops hahahah blame the editor ie me :-)
if wind does not dictate direction the smoke always tend to lean to nearest vertical object. Try placing log of wood vertically near the campfire and feel the difference. cheers
The smoke always head to the low pressure so you are right a good size log close ish to the fire might just help. I will give that a try next time im out, thanks for that.
What a beautiful scenery
Thank you
There's nothin' like a nice campfire.
You got that right, a great way to start the day.
多么漂亮的城市!
Thank you .
謝謝您,這是一個值得探索的好城市,謝謝您的友善評論。
Your videos are amazing! If you like farming or harvesting videos, I look forward to having you visit my channel to have relaxing moments together!
Zip firestarter is the best for this and pellets. Lights in heavy rain too. I break up a bar into sugar-cube size. Also, if you have a tripod cooking grate…or an adjustable stake-the-ground type… A few inches above that fire with a solid pan acts as a heat deflector, and you can sit around the stove like a campfire.
some good ideas there I will have to give it a go.
It is sad to see only one person commented here! Are you in the US or Canada? It does not look like Britain to me. I was drawn to your vlog because I have a stove like yours. Thanks for doing a video on it.
Im in Canada , I have done a few videos on the stove its a great stove for sure and lives in my pack now as it fits very nicely inside my pots etc. butane stoves etc can run out of fuel but as long as i have a few twigs i can cook food and boil water which is very important when out in the mountains. thank you for watching much appreciated.
Audio sucks!
Yes I agree that was filmed with a little fuji camera and the audio was garbage if you were more than 3 feet away. that was the main reason I got the go pro 10 black way better audio.
I have just got one for Christmas but not used it. How long does it take to cool down?
Where I live about 30 seconds in the snow, but in none snowy conditions it looses heat very fast, a separate all the parts and the base cools in seconds the fire basket and top double wall allow a few minute's and all is good. you will love this stove. if using sticks stand them upright or better still run them on pellets. have fun , they are a great addition to any backpack kit.
th-cam.com/video/kVUEcOhapI4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=zQhDxEVeHv16zYOU take a look at my other video at around the 3 minuite mark for a lot more information.
careful do not melt your boots.

And to you, thank you for watching.
“Just gonna make a short recap video” he says at the start of a 44min video
44 mins is short for my videos some last twice that, thank you for watching and commenting .
A product review could be as short as 5 min. most people wont have the patience for more than 10 mins on a 20€ product@@davebloggs
I cut a 6X6 inch square of carbon felt (welding cloth) to put under the stove. It protects the ground or any other surface the stove is placed on. The square weighs very little and can be folded or wadded up. It also keeps the jingly parts from making noise.
Now that is a good idea I like that I will give it a go. I do have a baking tray that I used for fires if im in an area that is to dry etc but the cloth idea would work very well and be much lighter I will give that a go.
What does the ground underneath the stove look like afterwards, is it scorched? I have a Silverfire stove, which is similar to yours but it has a heat shield. Despite that, mine still scorces the ground. I imagine it would be worse with your version.
Yes it can leave burn marks from the bits of charcoal that fall through but there is not any real amounts of heat as such. I treat it as any other fire when it comes to flammable material underneath.
Can't see anything.
What is it you cant see?
Too far
@@pedroclaro7822 I notice you dont have any content on your channel, also the reason its dark at the beginning of the video is it was still dark out the sun had not come up yet. the best time to be out enjoying the quiet for sure. again thanks for the comments much appreciated.
just cuz i dont produce doesnt mean i cant have valid comments, or useful constructive criticism. I meant the camera was rather far from the stove, and that it's probably why the original commenter said he cant see anything. Closeup shots are nice for a B-roll, but also to give viewers useful info, and keep things interesting @@davebloggs
@@pedroclaro7822 I always welcome comments good or bad , I dont tend to make what I would call stunning videos i make them because i like to bring people along for the things I do. I will see if I can get the camera in closer for the next time and as I say all comments are welcome good or bad. thank you for watching.
Subbed...
Thank you
Bio-light head lamp? I have a few lights by these guys, torches etc. The wind be a howling tooneet...
Bio light 330 is a great light as it has a pass through ability so i can run it all night from a battery pack.
apparently if you leave the fire to burn down beyond the coals into ash it's alot better for the earth than charcoal.. funfact, keep up the good work.. should make your own cabin.. along with a FORGE. even your own Cobblestone Oven..
Yep wood ash is a great fertilizer however if you make the charcoal small and bury it into marginal soils it works wonders as its ability to hold water is amazing,
Just subbed, I'm enjoying your fire, imagining I'm out in the woods! You mentioned to bring a shovel and have some water to extinguish any sparks or flames that may jump out of the fire pit, Great idea and reminder! Thanks for sharing also nice pot I use a percolating type for coffee or just water.
Welcome to the channel thanks for watching. my fire rule is simple always know how you will put it out before lighting one. I have not done to many fires recently because the forests are very dry and we dont have much snow yet, once we have a foot or 2 of snow I will be back out on my trips.
Interesting walk.
ITs good to remember the events of the past and also to make sure we dont repeat them again.. thank you for watching
😊Thanks and take care😊
Your welcome 😂. I will endeavor to not sit in the snow unexpectedly next time!!
That snow was deeper than I expected thats for sure.
The idea of standing small fallen logs up against a tree is brilliant! I've been ski camping and we had to forage for firewood on top of 8-10 feet of snow. Having a cache of available firewood is priceless.
It is well worth doing it this way, it has saved me many times from struggling to find good dry fire wood.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching.
wow nice place
It is a nice place for a walk for sure,
When your stoner buddy says he knows a place. lol But seriously this was very nice.
