      Similar situation here also. Bought a 'Pioneer 202' way back when & it sat on a closet shelf for decades. I've been using it (not as much as I'd like to) for the past 6 or 7 years or so. Very satisfying hobby ... gets me outdoors and plenty o' exercise with all the ups & downs; and plenty of interesting finds.

    We have two detectors hanging in the garage, not touched in decades. Now living in the country near an abandoned railroad and whistle stop. Complete with a general store still standing. I know nothing about operating the detectors. Hope it still works.

    The Philadelphia Coke Co. Made coke from coal and used as a fuel. Nothing to do with cola.

    • @Kp.lightner1980
      @Kp.lightner1980 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Erie also has a coke plant that you are referring too..

    Again, nice finds guys 👍
    That “Coke” medallion could be from the Philadelphia Coke Co. that produced not Coca-Cola but the coke that was used for fuel (made from coal or oil) that operated from ‘29 to ‘82.

      an identity medallion for a worker. hung from the clothing. if anything happened to him/her where they couldnt be id'd the number was for ident. purposes. of course i live in WV and coal mines are more dangerous in the respect.

      My dad was a steelworker, and sometimes worked in the coke plant. My immediate thought was that it was related to either US Steel or Carnegie in some way.

    I believe that Coke tag is a "Miner's Tag" it was hung on a peg board when they went down into the mine. That way, if anything happened, the supervisor could account for all his employees. Who may still be down in the mine shaft and who went home for the day.

    • @thepirhomancer9745
      @thepirhomancer9745 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Coal Co.'s also had tags the miners would hang on the coal carts after they filled them as a way of tracking production. These tags are uaually larger in diameter than the "miners tags".

You keep finding those little pieces of pottery what you should do with them is make a table top mosaic that would be beautiful and then you would be able to see all the pottery you found on display.

The hand on the Italian coin is holding an ear of wheat. I reckon the Sterling silver item is a pendant that once held a semi precious stone.
