Perfect timing for I am making my first coat. :-) Just a suggestion: to keep pieces straight I use one pin to keep the fabric pieces attached to its corresponding pattern piece until I'm ready to use them. Also, to keep the right side/wrong sides identified, when they look very similar like your wool does, I put a pin in the right side.

You should! Honestly it's a great pattern and I wear mine all the time. (I have two!) I'm not sure why but I'm glad the sleeves are double sided, so much warmer. :) x
I've been making this coat on an off since before Covid!! Just done a final toile and ready to go. But I've just watched the end of Part 1 and was surprised as it looks like you cut four sleeves out of the main fabric. Not sure I saw this in the instructions?????
Question about the sleeves! When you say "smaller circle in the bigger circle" do you mean your doing the lining earlier on? otherwise idk what small circle your referencing..

I got for this pattern an slightly hairy fabric and I was thinking of lining the sleeves instead of doing doubled fabric. Also my sewing teacher told me that lining would be better to slide the arm in. I saw from your comments below that you really liked the idea of double fabric lining. I’m torn between both options, I don’t know what to do now
Really dumb question: what comes in the package when you buy a pattern? Just instructions? Do you have to draft the pattern pieces? Sorry, I'm brand new to sewing .
Perla Aguilar Not a dumb question at all! So you'll get the instructions, pattern pieces which you can trace in various sizes, usually a cutting guide and information about how much fabric you need, the size measurements etc. 😊 Hope that helps! ✂️ Xx

I actually used a medium weight so it wouldn't be too bulky. In general try and use a similar weight to your fabric. I always use Vlieseline brand as it's the best by far. x

Oh no! Please stick with it, just practice cutting out lines and curves. It will be so useful when cutting out stretch fabrics once you get the hang of it. :) x

Sorry, I couldn't help giggling when I saw you using five pairs of scissors as pattern weights but cutting the fabric using a rotary cutter!🙂
Haha I've been doing it for so long I just do it so casually now haha. Need to invest in some proper weights!! :P
My grandmother always used butter knives to hold down her patterns. :)
