    Just got in winwing F-16 icp panel. I have to say it was easy set up and really was plug and play. I will say you need to install there Simpak software in order for it to be used.

    As a VR flyer, I love that every single switch cap has a different shape. I added velcro tape on the top surface as well as the selective jettison buttons. As I don't have to look at the labels, I usually just bind stuff where it feels appropriate. So far I have had zero issues finding the right switch even though my binds differ a bit between planes.
    Jettison is always bound to the guarded bus tie reset switch on the Taurus start-up panel for reasons. :smile:
    My only complaint is that the hole geometry on Winwing's standard mounts is not square which means you cannot rotate the the table mounts 90 degrees for vertical surfaces.

    I still have both my Gen 1 panels, I ended up taking apart the landing panel and running the hook switch all the way over to the right side of my simpit, connected using extra wire and worked just fine. The combat panel I've been using as back up switches and in case dcs bios fails in flight, which does happen with the old dcs bios hub. But I've recently made my own landing gear panel using an arduino mega as the controller. So now my ww pto panel controller is disconnected off to the side. I really like both Gen one controllers, they did the job when I didn't have a fully working simpit. I thought about buying the pto2, but I'd rather make my simpit as accurate to what I can as I can make it. On a side note, my simpit now in vr is as easy as reaching at the location of the switch and finding it. Distances in vr are about the same as they are in the pit, so yeah, if you reach for it while in vr it's there physically. Wish I could post pictures here.

      I agree with you and for guys that don't really have a Simp pit for the need for accuracy and replication and just want some handy controls. It's perfect. But for me, the older panels were just fine for I had them on my set up which you can see and some of our other videos, especially when I cover the, racing seat from the last two years.

    Good review and I agree with everything. I was disappointed with the quality of the gear/ hook and brake... I thought I was doing something wrong with the brake lever as well because their video showed it going 90 degrees, but that isn't the case with mine either.
    Be nice to get a mix of the two like you said, the quality of the original and a redesign of the new one.

    Nice review, couldn’t agree more. I far prefer the gen 1, two panel setup, to the new gen 2. The originals had a much higher fidelity feel with metal levers and hook handle. The new unit seems very flimsy and light duty. Winwing is obviously concerned about this since the new unit comes with stickers on it saying "Don't commit acts of violence, or it will cause the switch column to brake" (direct quote). The new unit photographs very well, and looks cool until you interact with it; then it just feels cheap. The fancy Parking Brake, Wing Fold and Hook handles are all plastic and hollow on the back and the plastic shafts flex with light inputs; you feel it every time you interact with them. Disappointed.

    Don, I agree with most of your points. I do like that the whole jettison system is in one panel, that was a criticism of the first gen. But like you I like the solid "clunk" of the first gen switches. It will be interesting to see what the second gen combat panel will look like.

    Nice video. I fly in VR so i do not need all the light on the bases. I also fly many different modules in DCS, so i would love to see more of a function oriented panel, instead of module strict panel. Like a panel for internal and external lights some potentiometers for panel- flood- instrument lights landing/taxi light switch navi- and formation lights etc , a panel for radios where you have a encoder for preset channels and for setting the correct frequency maby a 1-2-3 switch that you can use as a modifier, if you have more then one radio.

      Time for you to dive into the diy world of button boxes. Plug and play Leo Bodnar usb interface is a good start although more expensive than the arduino approach. This way you can set it up how you need it for VR. And as it is VR you don't need to make visually pretty unless you feel the need to. I have built many button boxes and I have not long finished building a collective. If I can do it you can too.

    This is kind of the problem with WinWing: yeah, they seem to offer really great and functional stuff at low prices, but their QC isn't all there. You might end up with a switch or knob that doesn't work right. In the grand scheme of things, in milsim you'd rather have less HOTAS controls/button that actually work well and right work, than have more, but the extras have issues that prevent reliable and trustworthy use. I say this having a 2nd F-16EX stick on a (now) Orion2 base. If another joystick grip has a compromable number of buttons, and even better a layout quite compable with the F-16/A-10C stick, I would get it provided it's a higher quality.

      I'm about to convert to the Orion 2 Throttle with F-15EX Grips and the Orion 2 Stick Base with Hornet/Eagle Grip and stick extension. Both with haptic feedback built in. We'll see how it goes.
      Been flying MFG Crosswinds and TM Warthog for the past 6 years. I have elected to retain Gen1 Panels and send the PTO2 to our Former T-6/T-1/KC-135 Instructor who transitioned to the airlines a year ago. He's going to evaluate it to compared to real-world cockpit equipment he's flown with. Not that it makes any matter, the public already knows it's limitations.

This differences really impact it but they're working on improving it. I promise. If they don't, I'm going to stand on their chest and beat it into them just kidding.

    My parking brake handle acts the same as in your video. According to the markings on the PTO 2 it sure looks like it should move differently than it actually does.

    • @AIRWARFAREGROUP
      @AIRWARFAREGROUP  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Apparently, the video on their website just shows it animated. Going all the way 90°, but it would be nice if it worked like in the jet. I think it's just meant to move a certain direction for electronic impulse input, which is best they can do.

  • @RagsHSC-7
    @RagsHSC-7 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    That is a low altitude warning also a load speed warning. So if you're coming in for a landing and you forgot to drop the gear, that's all it is. Also normally at 5 k. Alt. You will not get that gear warning. Only at low Alt & low speed together. Especially if you're at 500 lb fuel Way beyond bingo on fumes 5:03 It's first cranking on final approach with no final approach. There's a lot going on trying to control the air brake and many people can't get their eyes off the lbs of fuel when they should ignore it and come in now you're not going to be able to circle in a case. One configuration. Just call ahead for an emergency that your JP is on fumes. Call out your runway even if you have to crank hard, you don't have to burn to do it. But that's what that is. Now if you set your altimeter and many people don't even bother with it. So the altimeter would be at 2.2 k in altitude. That warning will go off. I sent my warning to 500 ft. Which is well within a good range at 3/4 Mile from the ship. At 1 mi or further you should be at 800 ft to 1K. It's just that people don't set their parameters as far as alt. It's set at a certain standard as default. It'll be on your lower right on the front, right dash. Just below the clock in the f-18 legacy

    I love WinWing and I am looking for such a panel. However, the biggest blocker for me and this panel is that it's very much focused on the F18. Me, flying the F16 (and maybe the F15 too soon). A more generic panel would be great!

      It's not my favorite quality, but if it's the only one I had to choose from and for what it has, I can get used to it, but there's no harm in waiting for something better. Or trying to find one of the older panels as a combo for sale.

      Actually, that's probably the best I mean even if you get a stream deck and customize it yourself you could really take it along way. The older PTO version one I use for the viper and have mapped similar controls to both panels to the viper and hornet as it's my second favorite aircraft to fly.

    The pto2 seems more fragile than the 1, I got both. I got problem with the hook handle on the 1. In that case, you're alone, winwing can't nothing for you. Send back is more expensive than the item. I fixed by myself. I have barely all the gears of winwing, for many years. Really sastisfied. Better than warthog, not so strong, but more versatile. As for virpil or vkb, winwing is better. But, effectively, pto2 is fragile, you have to be very careful. But if you want better, it doesn't exist in this shape, or you have to add much more money ! It's a compomise between quality, price, effectiveness, versatility. All my items works well. I bought the A320 fcu, and for now, I can't bind the knobs, on XP12, nothing is schedulded for that, XP12 is oriented Boeing.. Disappointed...
