Jesus, listening to these verses and such a nostalgic voice with a guitar sound behind I'm going back to my past, 55 years ago, and it brings to my mind a broken heart still bleeding crushed by raw diamonds, not by critical lyrics and verses of bombs falling, but with the passing of time and ideals, just words of a lost love, full filled by rust
My father's favorite singer, send it to him yesterday and he was so nostalgic , it brings tears to my eyes, my father's friends, early years are now souvenirs .
İn 8 months over 17k watches and only 9 comments (but very beautiful comments, heart filling). May be it's just because there is nothing to say, no need for appreciation except an admiration for the beauties of the past while listening silently, missingly. This song proves what a folk poet Dylan was. I think some concepts in the lyrics are from Christian world culture of the lullabies, fairy tales, gospels, sagas and has a huge folkloric value Therefore it may be considered global. İ'm a Muslim but I still depply appreciate his big works of creating an artlike mixture of his own imagination and the folk culture of the (western) people. He does that brilliantly while expressing his own thoughts and feelings. At those times he wrote and she sang, and she sang very lovely. İt was such good times yes. But good vibrations has gone now and won't come back ever again, nothing will be the same. When our generation be gone too, there won't be anybody left even to remember all these beautiful things. Will there be any valuable nostalgia and moreover any real love at all???
Fascinating lyrics and a really beautiful tune. It's just a pity Bob didn't write more verses as the song always finishes far too quickly for me. I guess that's why I always have to listen to it over and over again!
Farewell, Angelina The bells of the crown Are being stolen by bandits I must follow the sound The triangle tingles And the trumpets play slow But farewell, Angelina The sky is on fire And I must go There's no need for anger There's no need for blame There's nothing to prove Everything's still the same Just a table standing empty By the edge of the sea Means farewell, Angelina The sky is trembling And I must leave The jack and the queen Have forsaked the courtyard 52 gypsies Now file past the guards In the space where the deuce And the ace once ran wild Farewell, Angelina The sky is falling I'll see you in a while See the cross-eyed pirates sitting Perched in the sun Shooting tin cans With a sawed-off shotgun And the neighbors, they clap And they cheer with each blast But farewell, Angelina The sky's changing color And I must leave fast King Kong, little elves On the rooftop they dance Valentino-type tangos While the make-up man's hands Shut the eyes of the dead Not to embarrass anyone But farewell, Angelina The sky is embarrassed And I must be gone The machine guns are roaring And the puppets heave rocks And fiends nail time bombs To the hands of the clocks Call me any name you like I will never deny it But farewell, Angelina The sky is erupting I must go where it's quiet
Dylan had found himself categorised, boxed and limited by his unintentional kingship of the protest song movement with his close friend Joan Baez as the queen of that movement. Dylan wanted to throw off such restricting shackles and the album "Another Side of Bob Dylan" was Dylan doing exactly this. Farewell Angelina was Dylan telling his listeners exactly this and the song might originally have been intended as the centrepiece of the album. Perhaps he thought the song was too allegorical at this stage so, instead, he spelled out his intentions in "My back pages". Angelina (the messenger) is the personification of the genre of song that Dylan is moving away from; Angelina could also be (ironically) a personification of Baez. But Dylan is not moving away from social comment - "...everything is still the same." Instead, he is moving away from specific events (e.g. Hattie Carrol, Emmet Till, etc) to much more broad brush social comment such as "It's alright, ma" and "Desolation Row". .....or, I could be talking rubbish?
I think it's clear she loved Bob more than he loved her. He really did her dirty, got his career going by inviting him on stage during her concerts, etc. Then he was famous, they went to England together, but he never let her on stage.

wonderful voice and beautiful guitar work
I don't understand the message but after listening to this song for over 60 years I know every word, and it still sends shivers through me.
Lost our. Baby Angelina at birth. Lost my beloved Nov. 5 2o23 after 40 years.
I know they are waiting for me.
I don't want to be here anymore.
@@danlandavazo1506 I got nothing other than saying I hope you find a reason to go on, maybe find a way to help others.
It has been speculated that it's about the Vietnam war
'In the space where the ace and the deuce once ran wild' ... Are you kidding me? Brilliant writing.
A beautiful rendition of a beautiful song. Nobody writes 'em like Dylan, and nobody sings 'em like Joan.
Thanks for the video.

How fortunate we are to have this angel sing to us
Concur with all the positive comments already made. It was this recording of this song that made me finally understand the essence of poetry.
la diva Joan elle est unique.....

Super nice, super terrific.
Magnifique chanson ❤🥰🙏
Love your way
Farewell, Angelina
The bells of the crown
Are being stolen by bandits
I must follow the sound
The triangle tingles
And the trumpets play slow
But farewell, Angelina
The sky is on fire
And I must go
There's no need for anger
There's no need for blame
There's nothing to prove
Everything's still the same
Just a table standing empty
By the edge of the sea
Means farewell, Angelina
The sky is trembling
And I must leave
The jack and the queen
Have forsaked the courtyard
52 gypsies
Now file past the guards
In the space where the deuce
And the ace once ran wild
Farewell, Angelina
The sky is falling
I'll see you in a while
See the cross-eyed pirates sitting
Perched in the sun
Shooting tin cans
With a sawed-off shotgun
And the neighbors, they clap
And they cheer with each blast
But farewell, Angelina
The sky's changing color
And I must leave fast
King Kong, little elves
On the rooftop they dance
Valentino-type tangos
While the make-up man's hands
Shut the eyes of the dead
Not to embarrass anyone
But farewell, Angelina
The sky is embarrassed
And I must be gone
The machine guns are roaring
And the puppets heave rocks
And fiends nail time bombs
To the hands of the clocks
Call me any name you like
I will never deny it
But farewell, Angelina
The sky is erupting
I must go where it's quiet
Wow! I’ve listen to this song and every time truly love it everyday.
Another of many reasons for the Nobel.
Beautiful.
Thank you indeed for uploads with lyrics.
Hermosa voz. 💐💐💐

Vreme kada misliš, jer si mlad, da ceo svet je tvoj, a onda shvatiš kuda je sve otišlo....
Maravillosa.....

there is a call of duty and sacrifice for us all
the brave must fall before the curtain falls
Lost our baby.
Angelina. Breaks our hearts!

This is not insane.
You really need to start crediting Dylan with the music, not just the lyrics.
Go: Bob Dylan Full Interview 60 Minutes Ed Bradley 2004 Interview. Just the last minute.
This is not a poem. Dylan also wrote the music. Do we call Led Zeppelin the lyricists of Whole Lotta Love?
太好听了,歌词有诗意,仔细一看,原来是大师写的。bob大师,Joan唱得更好听。
Liner notes anybody? Bob Dylan?
A wonderful woman & a beautifull song ,wish they were both 18 again . Jail trump
