as soon netero activated the bomb, the narrator was like "btw the bomb was dirt cheap" 😂 Little ant really didn't understand anything ...

I’ve always interpreted that line as being how humanity would always develop further and stronger ways to destroy enemies, but your comment really showed me that really without netero humanity would have won by just nuking tf out of the ants for cheap, probably cheaper than hiring netero. He’s just the way to try to destroy them without destroying the environment

To the people who like to comment about Netero's final words:
I actually went and looked up chapter 298 in Japanese to understand what the real story was. Togashi used 悪意 and wrote 進化 as furigana, essentially saying that humankind's malice allows them to progress/evolve (I imagine this refers to stuff like scientific advancements going crazy in times of war, nukes are an example). In the anime, Netero explicitly says "shinka", which refers to the evolution part (you could argue that they could have slightly rewritten the line to include both but that's another debate). The "malice" part is not present in the anime, therefore the subtitles aren't wrong, nor a mistranslation.
The fact that most people aren't familiar with this kind of writing ends up creating these weird urban legends declaring the line's poorly translated or that "shinka" is a homophone that also means malice.

The ant king did have a human heart due to the influence of wheat, but he did not understand the despicability and cunning of human beings. Humanity will stop at nothing to eliminate threats to its dominance, even sacrificing itself. I can lose, but no one can win!

Its just funny that Netero have the time to give Meruem a middle finger (and an arm and leg)

One hell of an annoying mistranslation. The line is more accurate as:
"You underestimate humanity's infinite potential for malice." Basically, what you ants do for survival, we do for fun.

Actually no, the way that word was written in the manga (in Japanese) can be read both as "evolution" and "malice" and Togashi confirmed that the right translation is "evolution"

Yeah, you're right with the literal translation of the word. It's more like a double entendre though.

    • @davidc.
      @davidc. ปีที่แล้ว +1

@Luciphell yes it's ment to be a double entendre but if you had to pick one evolution would be the word to use.

      Nah, not really.
It's Netero basically saying "You may be the pinnacle of evolution, but humans are the pinnacle of malicious violence. We've perfected the art of killing things over centuries." Which culminates in what is the peak of human malice according to Togashi, the nuclear bomb.

I keep seeing this kind of comment everywhere so I decided to finally fact check this by looking up chapter 298 in Japanese. Togashi used 悪意 and wrote 進化 as furigana, essentially saying that humankind's malice allows them to progress/evolve (I imagine this refers to stuff like scientific advancements going crazy in times of war). In the anime, Netero explicitly says "shinka", which refers to the evolution part (you could argue that they could have slightly rewritten the line to include both but that's another debate). The "malice" part is not present in the anime, therefore the subtitles aren't wrong, nor a mistranslation.
The fact that most people aren't familiar with this kind of writing ends up creating these weird urban legends that it's poorly translated or that a single word could mean both of these things.

They could, but it makes sense they want to reserve a nuclear weapon as a last resort. They tried the hunters first to see if they can deal with it and minimize casualties. If Netero had won against the king then mission is accomplished, they saved most of the country the ants took over, and everyone comes home no problems. They implanted the rose inside of him as a last resort. Netero was able to take the king to a isolated area so if the rose went off it wouldn’t catch any innocent bystanders in it.
If they just launched a nuke from the start hundreds of thousands or millions would die by firing them at a capital where the king was located. It makes sense for governments officials and hunters to want to minimize loss of life if possible. From what they did here they still achieved that.

Nope, because they have 5 millon people standing outside the palace.
The whole point of this mission was to isolate the king so Netero could deal with him 1on1 at the designated area, which is at a safe distance from the palace, in a place literally used for testing weapons.
